  1. I think that is wise move Yes, IMHO
  2. In the interest of full disclosure: - If these are a rarely and highly sought after marine aquarium addition, the frag came from me. - If there are a nuisance, the frag came from me and I am sorry for any troubles. Steve
  3. Well, even after the posting, I tried to throw some business his way but he wasn't interested. ArtC, this is very generous.
  4. Option #47 - Auction this stuff to folks that need something to seed the cycle process for a new tank.... Seriously, this is a very good thread that has given me some good ideas to improve O&M on my tank. Steve
  5. I've had too many heater issues so I've moving off of the Wan Brothers stuff (except for the 40 gal I use to store conditioned salt water.) My 100 gal tank now has a Ranco controller with an old Wan Brothers titanium heater. I'm planning to get an AC III and some new titanium heaters. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. Steve
  6. Chu, If you decide to go acrylic, I had a very good experience with Tenecor. I purchased through one of their local dealers (they do not have that many) to avoid some of the shipping challenges. If you plan to be in the Vienna/Oakton area, you are welcome to see the product. Steve
  7. After repeated attempts in trying to get a custom order from a local source, I purchased one from glasscages. I has very pleased with the qualiity and timeliness. Moreover, it was delivered to my front door.
  8. One of them controller things. I'm thinking about (A) Neptune Systems AquaController Jr or (B) Neptune AquacCntroller 3. The misses is on board...in fact, she encouraged me to buy one for Christmas. Steve
  9. All I know is that they are called "Sea Dragons".
  10. during the winter, the tank keeps the humidity in the house at 45%. (She was reminded of the difference when we spent time in the homes of
  11. My thought -- make sure you comply with laws and have any required licenses. My experience - Yes, as noted in my signature, while living in Jamaica, I kept fish captured around Lime Cay near Kington harbor. My ex did most of the capturing using a "slurp gun" I had purchased in Florida. In this case, I did NOT QT since the ONLY animals going in the tank were the ones that were captured that day. Steve
  12. I'm hearing that folks (more often in the past) have had good experiences with NAGA but I'm also seeing a more recent pattern where TOO many folks have had bad or at least questionable experiences. This is very unfortunate. I'm wondering how many small business folks have treated a client like this: http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?s=&a...st&p=213999 This proposed solution (and NAGA) would have more credibility if NAGA had made good on other issues such as the bounced checks from 9 months ago.. Three months ago, in a post on the bounced check thread ( http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?s=&a...st&p=214093 ), NAGA said "I clearly owe Art the money and I have little excuse for having bounced a check other than it was not intentional. I will make Art whole in this matter and hope to do this very soon. He has been more than patient..." I'm (1) concerned about and (2) support small business but ... I also (1) reserve the right to take my business elsewhere and (2) hold a business (large or small) accountable when they have a pattern of poor performance or failure to deliver. Steve
  13. I was there last week while in the Richmond area. It was very nice. Not sure I would make an exclusive trip that far for ANY fish store.
  14. I too, ran across that quote/source but I do not believe it is accurate. Please see http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?show...mp;#entry218081
  15. I consider this whole drama to be very serious. Considering the alternatives (for example, http://www.courts.state.md.us/district/for...l/badcheck.html or http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/police/police35l.htm I believe that ArtC has been very generous with NAGA. I tried (unsucesfully) a couple of times to give NAGA a little bit of business but he was not responsive or not interested. I contacted him before and after this post ( http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?s=&a...st&p=214004 ). I was left with the impression that, because of my post, he didn't want my business. I hear (read?) that other WAMAS members have had good experiences in the past and I was hoping to give NAGA some business (and perhaps help ArtC get paid). I also consider myself understanding and forgiving. Moreover, I like to support WAMAS club members and vendors. However, my experience was not positive and my business went elsewhere. Steve
