Wow, maybe those Red Dragon pumps are as crazy as they say. The new Red Dragon II pump is coming out soon. Checkout this video: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v660/roy...nt=MOV03083.flv Pretty crazy from a pump that size.

I wished I knew the answer to that question. I'm convinved that my hermit crabs take nibbles out of them and make them retract for a little while. Can't say for sure though.

I really like the two island look. That toadstool lookslike its gotten pretty big. That's the piece you got from me right?

I thought Dan uses the Eheim 1262 on his skimmers, and Deltecs used the 1260 pump.

I didn't think Byron still worked there

That is bad. That means the inside of reactor has become too anaerobic and started producing hydrogen sulfide. Smells like rotten eggs. I'll let Dan tell you what to do as I'm not 100% sure. I know that stuff is not that good for your tank, so be careful.

I know for a fact that Lowes will also cut glass for you because I used them to make my sumps. The acrylic they sell is way too thin and will bow when you use them as baffles. Been there, done that. One piece of glass is only $12 or so, and they don't charge you to cut it.

I have my ATO hooked up to my ACIII and only have the ATO on for maybe 10-12 minutes a night. Redundancy to make sure all 32 gallons don't make it into the tank. So the first float switch would have to stick, then the second float switch would have to fail, then the ACIII would have to fall. All three would have to happen for all the water to make its way into the tank.

Gotcha. Hmmmm, looks like I'm gonna replace that one then. Thought they made a smaller maxijet than the 400. Let the search begin. And Niki, if BRK sells the triple float kit, I'd just go with that then.

My aqualifter pump is the same one I've been using for about 1.5 years. Haven't had to clean it or anything thus far. Still pumps out pretty good too. Can't believe you guys have had that much problems with them. Yes, you'd have to get something else to shut off the pump that tops off the water. I've never had to set that up because I have a 32gal Brute trashcan holding my ATO water, so I don't run out of water usually. For folks that have a smaller topoff container, it might be worth it so you don't burn out the pump.

Not sure. There is a black box shown in the pics. Should I open it up to see what's inside?

Buy this one. I have it and its worked out great for me. Why buy a DIY kit for around the same price. http://www.autotopoff.com/products/DS1/index.htm Plus you can get the optional snail guard to protect the lower float switch. A Cerith making its way onto my original single float switch ATO, which caused an overflow of my sump, is the reason why I switched to the unit I posted above. By the way, if you use a Tom's aqualifter pump for your ATO pump, you don't have to worry with having your pump burn out on you, and therefore you won't need the additional 3rd float switch inside your ATO water container.

Check out the deep water rock-mag. I've seen one at BRK and they are bigger than you think. http://www.aqua-mags.com/product.php

I experience the same thing if I don't have my grounding probe in the tank.

Also, when in a pitch, you can always just trying to superglue the tissue to a frag disc of liverock rubble. People glue down zoanthids all the time, so I'm sure the shroom would survice through it.

Awesome Bruce. Tagging along to see the your results.

Frustrating experience at Marine Scene

I'm confused. One person started this thread and was obviously disgruntled, but many members jumped in to defend your store and the quality of your livestock. Not sure why you would show such a negative stance towards our members. Not to mention to then turn around and say you're looking forward to expanding relationships with Wamas. Like quazi, you calling us your "chief critics" doesn't really sit right with me. I've been here a while now, and can really only think of one general issue that members gripe about your store, and I'm sure you know what that is so I won't highlight anymore negativity here. I only hope that you chose your words a little more carefully when referring to our members, as to not further isolate your store from them. I also wanted to mention to you that I was highly impressed with your store when I finally made it out that way a few weeks ago. You had a coral that I had been looking for forever (Octo-frogspawn), and I'm very very happy with my purchase. My ricordea are doing well also. Thanks for the the healthy purchases. -
The crazy thing is that I can get almost as much water movement out of just one pump. Adding the second pump gets the wave another cm or two higher. Having the second pump also allows me to get that size wave without have to run the pumps at 100%. Both only run around 75% at peak to get that size wave.

Brightwell Aquatics NeoZeo Method [Long Read] but worth it

Reading it now. Thanks again. -
Man, I've neglected this thread. So I looked next to my purple LTA and noticed my Clarkii clowns have finally layed some eggs. My false perc trio in the Riteri have layed more times that I can count, but this is the first for the Clarkiis. Here are some picsL I also finally got my Vortechs back from their upgrade at Ecotech. Here is a video of what two Vortechs can accomplish in my tank. Just to warn you, I spilled a couple gallons of water during a water change today, and had a couple room circulator fans running near the tank to help dry it up, so the video is kinda noisy. I'd mute it so the noise doesn't bother you. Pretty crazy to compare the pics in the beginning of this thread, and see that my purple LTA has easily quadrupled in size. I'm going to be redoing some things in the next few days, including installing Chris Thomas' old frag tank inside my equipment closet, specifically to house my ever-growing Riteri and clown trio. It just takes up waaaay too much space in my tank and has stung and killed way too many corals. Maybe some re-aquascaping once the Riteri is out of the main tank, and placing all my ricordea on the rockwork now that they've fully attached to their frag discs. Also going to place my zooanthids, just not sure where. Also switching from the large Lumenbright reflector with two mini Lumenbrights, both with Radium 20K bulbs inside. Also will be installing my redesigned manifold and external pump which will run everything with one pump. I'll be taking pics of the before and after and will update in a couple days.

What, no pics?

I would like if the corals more, then they would pull more nutrients out of the water. Right?

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll try without bleach first and see how it goes.
