  1. Well it looks like it's open again. I just saw a memo about it. Yeyyyy!
  2. I heard about it on facebook. It's not over yet. Supposedly the officials met to discuss their options. Not issuing any cites anytime soon.
  3. If you're looking for a different brand pump, you can check out the Coralvue bubble blaster or a Laguna pump. You are probably going to be looking for a BB 3000 or 5000, Laguna 1350 or 1500.
  4. I'm surprised that you are struggling with those 2 skimmers. I've owned the 150s and also have an Aquamaxx CO1 and both worked really well for me. Easy to dial in and I've gotten really stinky and dark skimmate. Does the water level in your sump fluctuate at all? And how high is the water in your skimmer area?
  5. I've tried it and it worked great on bubble algae. Just be careful about overdosing I've heard of people experiencing cyano issues with it.
  6. The male you have is from my Rod's onyx female and Cquest male. I lost both the Rod's and the one I got from Evan during the crash. I sold all the babies thinking I was going to get out of the hobby but now I am looking for a good lineage onyx. The ones I see now have a lot of deformities. Let me know when they lay again as I would like to take another go at breeding. Thanks!
  7. I'm trying to remember if you got the clowns from me. They are looking great!
  8. I use salifert and Hanna for kh. Red sea for calcium and magnesium. I had 2 salifert Ca test kits. One read abnormally high and the other really low. The Hanna and red sea always tested nearly identical all the time.
  9. 78-79 for coral tank 80-82 for clownfish breeding tank
  10. I use this for my breeding tank to siphon out the detritus. You may need 2 or 3 of these though. https://www.amazon.com/Schneider-Industries-Micro-Vacuum-Attachment/dp/B000BSJCLY if the link doesn't work, just search for small vacuum attachment. Btw, I only use the end with the brush and slim tubes that connect together.
  11. Wow...you've been busy stocking that tank up.
  12. I have an SCA 75g rimless. Their quality is really good for the price. Starphire glass with beveled edges and the silicone work was good. The overflow was also well built but if I had to do it again, I would probably order the tank from them and have it custom drilled for a shadow overflow. They usually have the tanks on special so you can wait for that. Also, if you send an email to SCA, they will usually negotiate on the price. You can probably get an extra 10 to 15% off on the price. I didn't get their sump but the skimmers are actually pretty good. The only issues I've heard about their stuff is the quality of the stand but I know a few folks who have them and have no issues.
  13. I may have gotten lucky with my red velvet wrasse as I added a female later and they are paired up and always together. Maybe I will finally just get a lineatus wrasse.
  14. Do you have any female flame wrasse? The pair I bought from you didn't really pair up. I now have 2 supermales.
  15. Thanks Evan! I have some picassos left. Unfortunately, your onyx didn't make it. I was able to however breed babies from her so all is not lost. I think I have a really tiny frag of the stevem table that may survive. I mean 2 polyps tiny sps. I think I have now changed about 180 gallons worth of water. Removed all the dead corals, fish, and snails. Water parameters are good now so just waiting for things to stabilize further.
  16. Thanks guys! I did a large water change last night. Water is pretty clear today. Spoke to my neighbors and they said that the power went out a few times in the neighborhood and at times it was flickering on/off. Will probably take the time now to change out the sand and rebuild. A few have reached out as far as restocking corals so thank you very much for the offers. Hoping to get rebuilding started so I can restock soon.
  17. Nice!!! Looks like the skimmer is already doing a lot of work.
  18. Have amquel already and can move existing corals to a running nano tank. I did set the skimmer to skim wet. I am going to get a large water change done tonight. Thanks!
  19. Tom, yeah I had 10g premixed but was just so tired from the trip. Then I was rushing to get to work this morning. I should have enough to get a 60g change but was thinking smaller changes. Do you suggest bigger water changes?
  20. I lost one and the other is doing well.
  21. Thank you for the support and encouragement. I was only able to do a 10 gallon change (total volume of system is probably about 80g. This allowed me to somewhat see what's in the tank. Not much alive except for a few zoanthids and the montiporas are ok. All acros are gone. I will do another 25g change later on. Running carbon now so hopefully things will get better.
  22. I don't know where to begin. So many SPS and some of my breeding clownfish are dead. I was out of town over the weekend and spent the day in a location without any mobile phone signal. Apparently, power went out a whole bunch of times last night. It came back on but somehow both my GFCIs tripped. I normally keep my powerheads on separate circuits for redundancy but this time everything was off. I also had a small tunze powerhead on a non gfci circuit and that one failed too. The impeller locked up and didn't spin until I forced the propeller to turn. The multiple times we lost power probably had something to do with it. The tank probably had no circulation for at least 16 hours. Tank temp was at 74 degrees from 80 degrees and lack of oxygen is most likely the culprit. By the time my son was able to reach me, he said the tank was so cloudy that he couldn't see anything. A lot of acros and other stuff I've collected for about 15 years are gone. I had the following lost livestock that I can think of right now: breeding pair of onyx clownfish breeding pair of black ice clownfish pair of frostbite subzero clownfish 10 of the nicest helmet picasso clownfish that I kept from breeding some blennies tons of sps wd tenuis some other maricultured tenuis that were really coloring up nicely upscales microlados pink lemonade stevem blue table tons of milleporas (rainbow, bubblegum, sunset, palmers, etc) procoral rainbow procoral superman reef raft stuff oregon tort lots of ORA corals a lot more stuff that I can't think of right now orange rainbow scoly master scoly some rainbow anemones too many to list and too much money, time, and effort lost. My picasso breeding pairs are on a different breeding system and a dedicated circuit so they are not affected. I will probably focus on those for now and get out of the coral hobby. The good thing is that I've given away a lot of corals and sold some for a very good price. If I can find the time to restart, I'm hoping I will be able to get back some of the corals in the future.
