  1. Does anyone have a 3/4" bulk head lying around? Thanks! -- Rob
  2. I've had the exact same problem on a similar older Sony digital camera. I bought a Cannon instead and the zoom/focus works perfectly. I think there is something inherently wrong with older Sony cameras. -- Rob
  3. Howard, Are you sure you want to squeeze 6 tangs into a 90g? (among all the other fish?) Or do you have a typo in your sig and you really got a 900 gal tank... That's a total of 20 fish!!! -- Rob
  4. Ok, has anyone else experienced problems with the Xantrex 700W inverters? I ordered 2 from Amazon. One was DOA (it kept cycling fan/red LED when turned on - even without any load). The 2nd one appeared to work fine, untill today's 1 hr power outage (Pam's house in Falls Church). After 10 min this inverter started doing the same thing - cycling fan/red LED. It his product a POS or what? -- Rob
  5. For heavy duty stuff - use Acetic Acid. (Home Depot) -- Rob
  6. I'm not sure if I'm the guy you're talking about... I've done my share of plumbing work before - but I dont think my reputation has been established yet. Ellen, Back to your original post... the price seems a bit high if it's pure PVC stuff. Bulkheads can be pricey, but the rest you can get at Home Depot at reasonable prices and then have one of us help you put it all together. Let me know your time frame and perhaps I could come out and help. -- Rob
  7. Sounds awfully familiar... I'll be there! -- Rob
  8. PS. ...and I swear I heard some fins clapping in a spontaneous applause.
  9. Things are still settling down. I'm sure the fish/anemone were stressed. New tank, new lights, new water flow. I'm hoping they will adjust and be happy in their new environment where they will not have to constantly defend their territory. All the fish from the display tank gave a unanimous sigh of relief though... -- Rob
  10. I couldn't believe how easy it was to 'fish out' a pair of tomato clowns from the 260g display reef. All it took was pulling out the anemone that they were hosting in, and moving it to another tank. Both clowns (quite big actually) were stuck inside the anemone all the way to the new tank. Unbelievable! -- Rob
  11. Pat, After the General Discussion forum, the Members Only For Sale/Trade forum is the 2nd active forum with 2,444 topics and over 12,122 replies. (as of righ now) I have saved hundreds of dollars on used or slightly used equipment and also sold lots of stuff leftover from upgrades. It's well worth the $20. Like everyone already said, it's really the members that make this club so great. And we have an amazing group here. -- Rob
  12. Thanks Steve... If I don't find anything closer by, I'll take you up on your offer. Want some monti frags? -- Rob
  13. Great! Make sure you include some Ich postules...
  14. Anyone willing to swap a cup-full of clean/virgin/southdown-CaribSea mix with a cup-full from an established sand bed? Need some critters in our new 29gal breeder set-up. Thanks! -- Rob
  15. I use Argonite based Southdown sand mized with CaribSea Aragonite product simply because that's what beeing used in the ocean. -- Rob
  16. The middle one is the DI stage. -- Rob
  17. Something I found on Wetwebmedia... A note regarding "feeding strikes", where for no apparent reason(s), a fish will forego feeding. This happens quite a bit with Zebrasoma. If yours seems to have "given up the ghost" and stopped eating, don't you give up. Very often, just as quickly, these surgeons will resume feeding, regaining their girth. Check `your water chemistry, try a water change, an offering of a new green food... this often stirs resumption of feeding. Understand that these fishes go through periods of non-feeding naturally in the wild, storing fat in their body cavities. -- Rob
  18. Hmmm... any volunteers? -- Rob
  19. Some of baby snails appear to survive in my refugium. You never know. -- Rob
  20. Umm, one question I got... What exactly is ORA? -- Rob
  21. I've actually seen someone sell them on eBay... "Rare anemone" -- Rob
  22. What kind of snails do you have? It's their eggs. -- Rob
  23. Very cool! Where did you get the calibration fluid? -- Rob PS. Do I hear TDS meter calibration party? Mine is a 6 stage too... assuming you mean 3 prefilter stages, RO stage (4), DI stage (5), and a final 'taste' stage (6)... I use stages 1,2,3,4,5 for my aquarium water and stages 1,2,3,4,6 for drinking water that is routed to my kitchen. -- Rob Dave, let me get back to you on my tap TDS... I make 200 gal a month for water changes, plus around 10-20 gal a month in the kitchen. -- Rob
  24. I agree, you're better off with 2 smaller heaters than one big one. The reason is, if you have only one heater and it fails, you have no backup, and your reef takes a temperature dip. I've had Won digital titanium heater for over a year and have not seen any rust. (I have a controller - just in case the heater mulfunctions) -- Rob
