  1. cuz he's probably still digesting the yellow clown goby, court jester goby, and the peppermint shrimp... -- Rob PS> I'll let someone else comment on the freudian slip...
  2. Anyone have any LR up for sale? I need some medium to small pieces to fill up the sump. Doesnt have to be pretty... -- Rob
  3. Chris, Couple of comments... In the second pic - I hope that wasn't a load-bearing stud you cut into. How are you going to maintain/serivce the tank once you dry-wall the front? From the rear? Looks like it's gonna be difficult with the lights in place, etc. Will you be able to remove the sump once you dry-wall the front? I find that being able to remove the sump once a year for serious cleaning is a good feauture. Other than that, looks good... Where do you live now anyway? Tank tour!? -- Rob
  4. Sure can. We have this combination in the 260 gal reef. Be advised that purple firefish may be aggressive towards each other. -Rob/Pam
  5. I just bought a used Neptune AquaController II sortof complete with a temp probe and a bunch of timers. I 'm using my existing PinPoint pH probe with it, and it appears to be working ok. Couple of questions: How do i interface it to a PC to log data? My unit didn't come with any software. Should it come with software? Where can I buy a cable? Do I need an ORP probe and what does it do? Thanks... -Rob

ROTFL... Alex... your attitude towards living creatures never seems to amaze me. Have you ever asked yourself why you're in this hobby in the first place? Just something to think about. Wouldn't it be smarter just to donate the little bugger to Pet/Co/Smart or something? Or find someone on WAMAS who collects Damsels. (i.e. Sachin) As far as the sand, if it fizzes it's a good calcium-based (aragonite) sand, that will help with pH buffering. If it doesnt fizz, it's probably pure quartz, or silica-based which is pretty innert, and it's not gonna give you the desired DSB benefits. Still, not a huge deal. It would be a good idea to seed your 'new' sand with some 'old' sand from an established reef. The sand storm is normal. Normally lasts 3-4 days. You can crank up the skimmer to speed things up, and run a canister filter. Just be sure not to introduce fish until it clears. Otherwise they will get stressed and probably develop ick and die. Where did you find the sand anyway? Shouldn't hurt anything once it clears up. Do you have any books on Reef keeping? read, read, read... and stop wasting fish! -Rob
  7. Arghhhhh!!! I can't believe I 'm traveling again this week for work! Looks like I'll be recording both Friday games on my DVR and watching them Friday evening... Anyone welcome to drop by. Party starts at 6PM... Both games recorded in HD. Prediction for Friday Germany-Costa Rica 2:1 Poland-Ecuador 3:0 (Go Polska!!!!) -Rob
  8. John, Do they have HQI DE reflectors? -Rob
  9. Howard, you should talk to Pam. Ed designed, ordered, and integrated her current in-wall 260g setup. I personally question certain design elements, although it was originally intended as a fish-only system. But talk to her. She has been his client before she bumped into me... -Rob
  10. John, 250W DE AB bulbs 10,000K -Rob
  11. Yup, Garlic and ginger will help their immunity against Ick. Make sure all your parameters are stable so there is no additional stress on your fish. How many gallons? What other fish do you have? -Rob
  12. Setanta is a Soccer Network channel that broadcasts to bars, pubs, and now apparently through DirecTV to home subs. Definitley not HD. Dont' bother with it... all 64 matches will be shown on ESPN-HD, ESPN2-HD, and ABC-HD. -Rob
  13. We have a Yellow, Blue Hippo, Naso, and Kole tangs in the 260 gal reef. Lot's of rockwork and all tangs are getting along. The Yellow tang was the first and the Kole tang was the last introduced. First few days the Yellow harrased the Kole, but now everyone is happy. We have considered Sohal, but decided against it due to potential agressive nature of Sohals... Beautiful fish though. -Rob
  14. PM'ed you... If anyone wants to watch any of the games in HD - and are close to Tysons Corner area, let me know... I should be getting all 3 feeds in HD. -Rob

7-10 days? Are you planning on keeping any fish? -Rob
  16. Put a fan over your sump. That's good for 2-3 deg... -Rob
  17. He's gonna run out of stores to bash and then what? ...start buying fish at SuperPetz...
  18. First of all, 3 months is not exactly an established tank. It can be very tricky to get both the naso tang and the blue jaw trigger to aclimate properly and actually start eating prepared food. As a matter of fact my gf has purchased a Naso Tang from Roozens about 3 months ago and he did take a while to start eating. We quarantined him for a month and when he finally got comfortable and started eating, we introduced him to the main tank. Now he's the king of the tank and doing extremely well. We also purchased numerous cleaner shrimp, tomato clowns... and never had any fatalities. It sounds to me that either your tanks are not yet established and/or your quarantine, feeding practices are questionable. -Rob
  19. Are pH probes compatible with different aquipment? I just bought a used Neptune Aqua Controller and I'm wondering if would be able to use my PinPoint pH probe... Both of them seem to have BNC connector. Also, does the same go for ORP, Temp, etc...? -Rob
  20. Any news on which team won? -Rob
  21. Has anyone been to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, OR? I'll be in Eugene, OR this weekend and found it on the net. (www.aquarium.org) I'm wondering if it's worth the 2 hr trip to check it out. -Rob
  22. Not exactly familiar with the Nautilus skimmer, but I'm assuming it's a venturi type. If that's the case, you can remove the venturi nozzle that the air tube attaches to and clean it using vinegar solution. Also check that the pump works properly. Wouldn't hurt to remove the impeller and also soak it in a vinegar solution. -Rob
  23. Dhoch, If you're going to the meeting tomorow, can you bringt the PAR meter with you? Thanks! -Rob
  24. Inna, I'm glad you're happy with it. -Rob
