  1. I guess this is very true, I have an ~8year old pair of clowns that originailly came to me with a large carpet anenome. Well after a bunch of other fish went missing I had to part with the carpet. After a bit of time the clowns began to host some frilly mushrooms. Well recent I picked up a RBTA figuring they would look at it as an upgrade, but they still prefer the frilly mushroom even though its no where near the size of the RBTA. I'm going to see if I can move the mushroom and see if they find the RBTA a bit more attractive.
  2. Wish I could since I cook up a mean dog, but I'll be in the OBX soaking up some sun.
  3. I dont know Rik not much good comes out of Culpeper <------------------------------ Nice to see other locals on the board.
  4. Are you planning on charging admission for this show? Just kidding I did a similiar drill job, but it was only a 20 gal sump , that I couldnt get out from under my stand. Like mentioned before keep the area lubed, I used RO/DI water. Otherwise I drained the water level about 2 in below where I drilled and used a piece of styrofoam on the inside portion of the glass to catch any shavings. I was very cautious, but now its no big deal to drill glass. Are you using the drill bit or dremmel approach?
  5. I start pulling it out when I cant see the bottom of the tank. I have been pulling half out and then stretching out the rest across the top of the tank. Once it reaches the bottom I repeat the process again. In between major prunning I pull out any discolored areas
  6. Dano, the skimmer appears to be to big for a nano and a little on the small side for a 54 gal. I had something similair on a 30 gal that I had at one point. Otherwise Jessy will need to correct me if I'm wrong, but off the top of my head there were only 2 small pumps left. Not sure what gpm you need for your skimmer.
  7. The light has 2 175w MH with 2 48" T12 actinics. Overall the unit is ~48in long by 12in wide
  8. Stopped by today and man I wish I brought more cash. Lots of high end stuff for great prices. It's worth the ride to stop by and check it out.
  9. I just used a pair of 12" tweezers and grabbed them. Around feeding time and just after dark were the best times to go hunting. I'd check the tank every night with a small flashlight before going to bed and pull at least 1 monster every few days. After a while the sightings became far and few in between.
  10. I've been using blood worms that big for the croaker on the lower potomac. Just save them up and sell them by the dozen. Otherwise on a serious note, best bet would be catching them and pulling them out. I had some monsters ~14+ inches in my tank before I started pulling them out. They were actually feeding on my live snails. I've still got some smaller ones but nothing like before.
  11. Rik, you are just terrible. :( Super Nice as always...
  12. I've had a breeding pair of emerald crabs, toss millions of babies in the the tank during the night. For a few days straight I would see them floating around after dark. Took me a while to figure out wha they were. I've also had pepermint and cleaner shrimp give birth as well.
  13. John after my crash I finally limited it down to the Red Slime Remover as well. I had used it on my smaller 30 gal system with great resultes. But when added to my 90 gal tank a few weeks later I had the same results. Slightly cloudy water then mass coral death. That was some time ago and I'm still fighting the effects. Some days are better than others, but I've already gone through 2- 5 gal buckets of salt in water changes and been running fresh carbon every other day. Hope you get your crash under control.
  14. Looks like I will not be able to attend the meeting :( . hopefully I can work some last minute magic and get out there, but it doesn't look good. For all those that I have arranged trades with, PM me and we can see if we can arrange to meet.
  15. I'll edit this post later with more detail and pics, but off the top of my head I have the following for trade. 16. I realize that BC is on the West Coast, but it was pretty bright there for 1:30 am our time
  17. It's not albino, but actually pie bald. If a true albino it would have pink eyes, plus on overall lack of "dark pigmants" not yellow. Where Piebaldism is the total lack of color in patches across the body ranging from 1% to 99% of the body. Most are somewhere between 60-80% white. Either way it is definately a sharp fish and I'd definatley like to make it part of my reef.

LFS in warrenton has PJ's for $9 if anyone is nterested, but that is about the only good thing they have. The rest of the store is less than desireable.
  19. Johnny I'd be interested in telecommuting myself. B)
  20. Anyone have a source for solenoid valves? I'm looking to hard line my auto top off and need a small valve.
  21. For those of you not lucky enough to get on the Miss Lime order, I found that the Southern States in Manassas is now carrying Ms. Wages pickling lime. The 1lb container if going for ~$3.99. The price isn't as good as the lime order, but still better then any other Kalk mix you will find in the LFS.
  22. I stopped by Johnnys place to pick up my reef plugs today and I can vouch for the new arrivals. It is definately a top notch order he has gotten in. Especially that Achilles tang, he is a sweet looking fish.
  23. I stopped by Johnny's place today and all his livestock is in great shape. I walked away with 3 Firefish and wishing I had a bigger tank. Paul
