  5. About 3 years ago I used the Red slime remover on both my softy tank and my sps system. The softy tank needed it the most and I also wanted to test it out first. The stuff actually worked great, litterally clearing the issue up over night. A week later I dosed my 90 gal SPS tank due to a few small patches. I woke up the next morning to a tank full of dead coral. Everything was bleached with the flesh just hanging off. I can only assume this stuff killed something more than just the slime and started a chain reaction of death and eventually took out the tank over night. the only positive from this event was it really took care of my red bug problem I was having at the time. But then that didnt really matter.
  6. With all this work going into rearing clowns has anyone done a day by day pictorial on thier development? I've found some general info but mainly written and only a few pics. I wish I had a better camera to even attempt this.
  7. there are noticeably less eggs this time than in past spawnings.
  8. After a year of nothing my clowns decided to start laying eggs again. For roughly 2 years they would religiously deposit eggs every few weeks on thier favorite tile. Then one day they stopped and I figured that would be it. I have had them for ~5 years when I picked them up with my 90 gal. Overall I estimate they are ~8-9 years old and figured that would be it. I guess my question would be how long could clowns reproduce? The tanks temp did dip a bit last night not sure if that kick started anything.
  9. I was not calling anyone one out, just venting my inner demons on this topic. As somone who ran an online retail biz for 6 years, I always dreaded the "picture collectors". Basically you would post up a few pictuers of an item and then they would come back and ask for pictures from every angle under the sun and of course 95% of the time it would result in a non-sale. Thank god I had a full time job as well.
  10. Does it make sence that I hate when somone sells something and fails to provide a picture in the add, but on the same side I hate providing pictures when I place something for sale. I guess I just have to remind myself of that as I start to complain to myself.
  11. Harleqiuns are great, they more than took care of my astrea issue when they took off on me.
  12. I've always had luck injecting them with Kalk juice, they dont last long after that and rarely require a second dose.
  13. Lol must suck to work in that sweat shop. I can see it now a room full of foreign kids with sharpies drawing all over fish. What will they think of next.
  14. If there are issues you can still work with your CC company to get your money back regardless if they still have an account. I've gone that route before, but never had issues where I paid with a check and tried to get my money back. Overall get some pics before sending the rest of the money, prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
  15. what did you use to cut them?
  16. finally worked up the courage. Hope they all turn out well.
  17. I paid around 15$ for my top off system, that is if you dont mind DIY. Total included switch, cord, small pump and tubing. Unfortunatly I cant find the website where I bought the switches from, but I got 2 for under 10$ shipped. Here is an example from E-bay Float Sensor The cord was nothing special only a reg extention cord, that I spliced the switch into. Pump was just a small fountain pump I got a lowes for $10. I mounted the float sensor to a piece of angled acrylic in my sump. Its been running great for almost 4 years now.
  18. Heck mine had powder blue and foxface on the menu before I finally realized what was happening. Otherwise I was always wondering why the snail shells would pile up in front of it. It was history as soon as it decided to start moving around the tank.
  19. Well bob, unfortunatly that is the one I'm referring to. But In a tribute to shark week, I've created a mini shark cage out of egg crate to see if either my angel or foxface maybe pestering the red tabling acro. So far that proved a lot easier than catching the fish. So if things turn around, I know to find a new home for these fish when I move everything into my 130 gal in a month of so..
  20. I have a flame angel that I picked up a few weeks ago from a very heavily stocked SPS system. Looks like he will be taking a vacation for a few weeks until I can figure this out. Thanks for all the good info so far guys.
  21. I've been getting decent growth, but have concerns about a lack of polyp extention in my SPS. I never thought much about it until recently I picked up a millie frag. Everything was all nice and fuzzy for the first few days, but then they slowly retreated and havent been the same. Anyone have any info on possible causes? Tank parameters are fine based off my test kits, but I'm looking to upgrade them since they are over a year old. Currently pruning fuge (20 gal filled with cheato) every 3 weeks, and have gotten to the point where my skimmer doesnt pull much except after feedings. Potentially looking to add some carbon to the routine, in the event my leathers or zoas are possibly poluting the water. Any thoughts would be great.
  22. I used the stuff and it crashed my 90 gal taking all my sps with it. But worked great on my 30 gal softy tank. Needless to say I'll never use the stuff again.
