  1. I'm not to familiar with thier water, but if it is just ro water mixed with salt I'd pass or if it's cycled water through thier system I'd grab a container to start out my water. But either way for the bulk water It would be cheaper and easier to get an RO unit and good quality Salt mix. I bought a 5 gal bucket of salt a few months back when I started my tank and I'm down to a half bucket. This was due to a combination of water changes (was doing 10-20% weekly in the beginning) and refilling the quarantine tank a few times. If I had to buy water at $3/gal that would for sure put a hurt on my coral fund.
  2. I was just wondering if anyone has a local source (Va side of the river) for Acrylic and a price. Another memeber already hooked me up with a source in Rockville Md, but It doesn't hurt to shop around.
  3. In order to conserve your losses, you may want to place your current healthly corals out in foster homes. Either in a seperate tank, or other memebers tanks. Just ask you'd be surprised how Wamas memebers will try to help out.
  4. Wow, that's a lot of stuff for a 29gal never mind the 20 they came in. I would continue with the wafer changes and post half the fish in the for sale section or just give them away, especially the yellow tang. I'm not sure if more smaller water chages a few times a week would help vs one large one once a week, but you can give it a shot. Also if you want to have corals you should think about getting rid of the CC stars.

    A leak

Before just tightening it, take it appart and put a bead of silicon around the bulkhead. Then tighten the nut down on the bead of silicon. This will seal it off for sure.
  6. While looking around for materials I went with 3/4" pine plywood for my stand. Material price didn't play much of factor as I was looking for more pattern than anything else. I went with a mid grade finished pine plywood due to the s light tiger pattern and just sanded the crap out of it. After which I stained it wtih an Oak stain. End result was light to mid colored oak appearance with almost tiger stripe effects in the wood grain, due to slight differences in the plywood and the originial pattern.
  7. I was just wondering if anyone has any Weld On laying around? I'm looking to build a new Sump and figured before ordering a pint on-line I can see if anyone has any left over from thier projects. jarosh96@hotmail.com
  8. I don't have sku number but maybe this will help. Yardright Dealers
  9. The Southern States store in Manassas Va carries it for ~ $4 a bag, I think $4.50. It is labled as Yard Right Tropical Play sand. And even states on the bag Silica Free. Plus even more importantly it passes the vinegar test. Heck if a few people up in MD would like some bags I may be pursuaded to make a trip. Later Paul
  10. Jon Even through they aren't really local (~2.5 hrs from the NOVA area), I think www.ThatFishPlace.com has some for sale. The store is about the size of a regular sized supermarket, with almost everything for petsupplies. May be worth the trip. I usually make the trip when visiting up north for the weekend.
  11. Mike, Call me tomorrow 571-214-9253, I can stop by the Southern States store on the way up and get you all ten bags.
  12. Quazi Do you still have an extra piece of Toadstool available? Also for anyone out there I'm looking for Leathers and Ricordea, pm me and we can chat.
  13. I'm currently mulling over the idea to retrofit my current 36" Dual PC Orbit lighting system with a single 150-175 watt or Dual 70 watt MH's. If I move the current bulbs out from the center as far as I can, there should be enough room for a MH fixture between them. I know I would have to change out the current clear plastic shield for a glass one, and upgrade the fan system to deal with the extra heat. Any advice would be appreciated.
  14. I was just wondering what everyone is using for filtration? And any thoughts on how it is working for them and thier current set-ups. Later Paul
  15. Wow, you sure went all out on the the LR. LOL Humor aside looking good far so, you are going to have to let us know how the cycling goes. Are you planning on using fresh LR or something that has cured previously in another tank? Later Paul
  16. Quazi Put me down for the leather, also do you have a pic? Mike I don't think you would have a hard time getting rid of the rocks at the meeting..
  17. I was just wondering if anyone has a local source for Pickling lime? I'm just trying to nail down as many sources of Calcium in the NOVA area, maybe even set-up a listing for everyone to use. Thanks Paul
  18. Anyone bringing any Leathers to the meeting? I'm definately interested in picking up a nice piece of toad stool. Also looking for Devils hand and Colt. I have pleanty of Green US Currency Coral to trade. Thanks Paul
  19. I tried to take a quick pic of them the other day but they are roughly the same length and width of an eyelash. This made for a blurry pic. I can give it a shot again
  20. Today while digging around in the tank I came across these tiny black worms. They are about 1/4" long, non-segmented and living in the sand. I sucked a few up while house keeping, but would like to get an id before going old school gvl]] on them. Thanks Paul
  21. In the light of this event what would be a recommended "brand" of powerhead to use for a sump / refug set-up? Paul
  22. My Bad I'm in Culpeper Va, but a local place almost anywhere in Northern Va will do.
  23. Does anyone know where I can pick up a J tube for my current overflow? I stepped on the old one and only need the new tube. Thanks Paul
