  1. I did it on a EuroReef recirc and it worked like a charm.
  2. I think that the intake is 1" and the output 3/4.
  3. They actually sell a piece that screws on to the output of the PSK100 that makes it the size of 1" pipe. So a 1" coupling or 90 will slide right over it.
  4. Yeah, and that includes if you've EVER had pests in the tank? Just because you've treated and don't see them doesn't mean they're gone. Things like.....oh, I don't know.......let's say flatworms, can still be infecting a coral even after you've treated. It's dishonest as H-E-double hockey sticks not to tell people that you have them or YOU"VE HAD THEM.
  5. If I were you, I would ditch the Eheim. They are great pumps but the needlewheel impellers for them are insanely expensive. The Sicce PSK1000 has close to identical specs as a skimmer pump and you can ge the whole thing for less than a needlewheel for the Eheim. I've got a Deltec AP701 and I'm going to replace the pump with a Sicce as soon as my Eheim dies.
  6. Never used it, and don't plan on it. In an emergency........maybe, but I think it just points to another problem in the tank that needs to be solved.
  7. Luckily the toxin killed enough brain cells so I really don't remember when people bring it up.......every time it's like it's brand new!!
  8. What if you were to have the PVC in the sump itself? That way the heaters could stand upright without running dry and if the feed pump ever died you would have the sump water to dissipate some of the heat. Plus, if you had your temp probe in the sump next to it, you could kick it off before it got too hot. So you have a primary and a backup (thermostat and temp probe).
  9. I'm getting ready to bomb my tank with flatworm exit. I have a 2 stage BRS media reactor that I'll be using for running carbon. I'm planning on rinsing the carbon, putting it in the canisters and running RODI through it for a few minutes before putting it on the tank. The question is, does it matter what sized carbon? I currently have a canister full of the carbon pellets that look like little hamster turds, but I have to get more for the other canister. Should I get the same thing? Finely ground?
  10. No, no, no.........you're looking at it all wrong. Don't cut the wall anymore. Just get a 7 or 8 foot tank and have it go past the opening. You could hide all your powerheads in that area but still be able to see 90% of the inside of the tank. I'm just sayin.
  11. Marcos - Take a look at Dan's old build thread here. He made a nice little heater thingy for his: http://wamas.org/forums/topic/18747-dandy7200s-400g-sps-tank/
  12. Tank looks pretty full Evan.......I think it's time to go bigger!
  13. Man, what kind of idiot tries to boil poisonous corals off a..........oh, wait........nevermind.
  14. I had 250w Radiums over a 27" deep tank and was able to grow SPS on the sand bed.
  15. There wasn't a group buy going on at the time and I had read good things about fish-street.
  16. Yep, I paid with paypal. I'm going to file a complaint. They sent me a WP60, but that's too much for my tank. We'll see what happens.
  17. So, they sent me the wrong pump and they won't send the correct item until I pay to ship the wrong pump back. They SUCK!
  18. Do these brown polyps have stripes and grow everywhere? Those could be Outlaw Stew Palythoas and they will make you VERY sick. There is a picture of the ones that made me sick on the link below. See here: http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/notrocketscience/2011/04/05/worlds-2nd-deadliest-poison-in-an-aquarium-store-near-you/ If you can make it by, I have some gloves you can use to handle the rocks when you take them out. If they have the polyps on them I would also wear a mask and goggles.
  19. First thing I would do is take the rock structure on the right side of the tank and bleach it. Soak it in bleach for an hour and then put it out in the sun to dry. Once it's dry put it in fresh water with dechlorinator and change the water every day for 2-3 days. Then put in saltwater for a couple of days and it will be ready for your tank. It will be white, but nothing will survive. For the other stuff, I would take everyones advise. Get everything off the sandbed and the glass. Then just start trimming what you don't want a little bit at a time. You'll be in good shape before you know it.
  20. Nice.......following along. Not sure where you got the rock, but I would avoid BRS rock. Too many folks have had issues with it. If you find some nice pieces, just dry them and bleach them. That will take care of any hitchhikers. Since you are looking for automation / backups, I would also suggest going with multiple return pumps and multiple skimmers. That way if one ever goes down you at least have some pumping/skimming going on. Good luck and let us know if you need anything!!
  21. I came across a couple of Finnex titanium heaters with the digital controllers. Since I don't trust thermostats, I'm going to be plugging them into my controller as well for a failsafe. I know they had troubles years back, but I didn't see any issues recently. Anyone had any experience with these?
  22. What is one of the main ingredients of a bubble?
  23. Yeah, that's what I'm waiting to hear. I was actually impressed with the order........it only took one week from ordering to receiving it. Hopefully they will expedite it since it's their screw up.
  24. I ordered two WP40s from Fish-Street and the package arrived today........but it's one WP60. Has anyone dealt with their customer service? Is it any good?
