  1. Well, from what I've read, I would recommend that you try something small first......like a lookdown box or something like that. Then move up to something a little bigger. I would ask Adam from Artfully Acrylic. He seems to know what he's doing!
  2. It's going to be small........about 18" x 12".
  3. Yeah, I'm looking at about an 8" water depth, so I'm thinking they should be ok.
  4. This would be used in a very shallow area. I'm just looking for something that won't generate a lot of heat.
  5. I'm looking to plumb a small frag tank into my system and was looking at the marineland LED as the light for it. Are these things even worth a try?
  6. Well, good thing you didn't have reef tank maintenance to keep you busy.......now you can spend all your time with the goldfish!!
  7. That really sucks about the scratches. Hopefully they won't be noticeable when you fill the tank. I take it the seller didn't tell you about these?
  8. Ok but you need to prioritize........Coffee, WAMAS, kids, breakfast. Thanks for checking in to this for me.
  9. I'm looking for a Chelidonura nudibranch for flatworm control. Do any of you have any in stock? They're the black ones with the cool blue racing stripes.
  10. The pic of the bushing you showed requires a 1" fitting of some type to work (90, coupling, etc.). It won't connect directly to 1" pipe so make sure you have something to glue it into. Nothing worse than just coming back from Lowe's and realizing you need another 50 cent part.
  11. Tom - I agree that the idea behind this is a good thing. But when members, ANY members, start placing limitations based on their opinions then it shouldn't be a club event. What one person may consider a tank that is beneath their time, someone else may find that tank to be worthwhile to look at. All I'm saying is that we don't need to institute a class system here.
  12. This is a crock - The fact that there is an arrogance going on here is amazing to me. Not everyone has the money or resources to have a perfect tank. A lot of folks have tanks and are trying to improve them and make them better. When someone volunteers their tank, be it huge or a nano, and someone calls it "lackluster" or tries to exclude it, it belittles what this club is all about. I fully support the idea of tank tours, but they need to be open to everyone........not just tanks that a small portion of the club thinks are worth while. If you want to exclude people from participation based on your opinions, well then you need to do it on your own and not as a club event.
  13. I'm trying to figure out a way to the magic eraser pads ultra thin.......like 1-2mm thick. I'm looking to use these with a mag-float to keep my tank clean. Any ideas?
  14. Following along. Welcome back to the big tanks!
  15. Check out Evan's thread (DerABT). He removed his and made his own.
  16. Look in the manual or on the website to determine what the recommended feed rate is and get a pump to match (taking into account any turns getting from your sump to the skimmer). Buy a pump to match. As for water level, the manual should give you an idea where to start. I would just get it going and keep the pipe wide open. Then, when it starts producing foam, slowly increase the level until you get it where you want it. I can post a video of my internal skimmer running if it would help.
  17. Has anyone who used this had any ill effects with SPS?
  18. Siphon out as many as you can before treating. Make sure you have a filter sock to catch any that go into the overflow. Have the siphon going when you treat to get the dead floaters.
  19. Wow, you're actually going to make fun of those hard workers? And what respectable line of business are you in?
  20. Well, wait.............are we talking Kenya Tree or Colt? As I understand it, Kenya Tree is fairly fast growing but stays to itself, while Colt Coral drops babies everywhere and will take over a tank. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
  21. You forgot one step Jenn.........ignore the symptoms until your lungs start collapsing.
  22. You always like to make me re-live my poisoning, don't you Rob? When that happened to me and I was working with the CDC, they told me they had tested most of them and that they ALL contain palytoxin, but the concentrations vary. They also told me that a lot of zoanthids contained toxins. While not palytoxin, it can still put a hurtin on you!
