  1. If you look at that thread, that's what he did. You could probably mount two fans on the top of it and have it blow air down on the LEDs.
  2. Does the fixture have fans? There is a link on R2R that shows LEDs being mounted in an existing fixtures case. http://www.reef2reef.com/forums/large-aquariums-180g/122872-tony-vargas-300-gallon-build.html
  3. Alan - My tank is 60x30x27 and that is a single WP25 making the wave. I have a second WP25 in the tank on random flow. The WP40 in the back is disconnected.
  4. My hippo tang apparently thought she had eaten too much this Christmas and wanted to work some of it off. This cracked me up:
  5. Why you gotta start trouble? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  6. That paly stew reminder always makes me cringe. I do want to point out that I've had this same tank for a year. That, my friends, is progress. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  7. You may want to just try one of the WP25s. I have a 60x30x27 tank and have 2 WP25s in it.........I actually had to turn the flow down on one. They are small, but very powerful.
  8. I just got my D2040s from ERC using their standard layout. I was very hesitant with the greens and reds in there, but I didn't want to wait the extra time for the custom layout so I just went with the standard. They hit it out of the park with this thing. I put them on the tank and turned to blues on to 100% and the whites on to 75%.........I don't think I need to mess with them anymore!! It's giving me an awesome 20K look that I would equate to the Radium MH bulbs I used to run. So if you're thinking of ordering a custom layout, just go with the standard layout instead. There is enough play to get any desired color that you want. Thanks to ERC and Marcos.
  9. Santa brought me some 21 year old Scotch. I am sipping it while I watch my tank!
  10. Why not pull it out another 2 feet and go with a 6' x 4' tank? Then you get the best of both worlds. As for getting to the inside of the tank, you could always put access doors above the tank. I currently have mine on hinges but I think I'm going to be going the magnet route.
  11. I'm getting ready to run carbon on my tank in anticipation of bombing my flatworms. I've put together a dual carbon reactor, loaded the cartridges with carbon, run RODI through to rinse it and now I'm ready to run it on my tank. Do I need to run it gradually or can I just grip it and rip it?
  12. More like behind every insane man is the woman that drove him there!!
  13. All - Most of you knew that Bob had been sick for quite a while. I had been trying to get in touch with him for a while with no luck. I just found out why. Bob passed away on November 13 of this year. For those of you who knew him, there is nothing I need to say. But for those of you who didn't, you missed one helluva character. Bob was a great guy and never hesitated to help anyone out in this hobby.......or with anything else for that matter. Bob got out of the hobby when he got sick and I helped him unload most of his stuff. I visited him a number of times after he got out of the hobby and he always had a great attitude. He's going to be missed. For those of you who didn't know him, I would suggest you read through his build thread here: http://wamas.org/forums/topic/17224-lanman-225-gallon-tank-build/ You can read his obituary here: http://www.covenantfuneralservice.com/obituaries/robert-e-billings/ Steve.
  14. Stick with the 4x4 cube. It doesn't have to be rimless since it's going in-wall. I've had glasscages and Miracles tanks and I have to agree with Eric, Miracles beats Glasscages in every category except price.
  15. Now the trick is not to touch it again. Looks really good. In the future though, don't let Jenn bully into anything. She's too used to getting her way!!
  16. If you want to use the MP10s they should provide you enough flow. However, if you wanted to go the cheaper route you could look into the WP pumps.
  17. Two WP25s would be plenty. My tank is 60x30x27 and I have a WP40 on Wave 1 running at meduim speed and a WP25 running on Wave3 at the lowest speed. I have PLENTY of flow in my tank......I've actually had to reposition some LPS because they were getting too beat up.
  18. check out Evan's build thread. He removed the overflows from his tank. http://wamas.org/forums/topic/53346-der-abt-156g-build/
  19. Lets see a list Johnny! Looking for some tangs and a CB butterfly.
  20. I've had the same cleaner shrimp for almost 3 years now.
  21. Glad things are back in the good for you. Looking great!!
  22. Superfly........he was pimp of the year!!
  23. I would also point out that overflowing into a drain does not provide for any way to shut the skimmer off. Plus, if you have a p-trap full of skimmate it is going to smell like........well, crap. If you're looking for a bigger locker, get the 5g skimmate bucket that Avast offers and put a ball valve on the bottom and run a tube to the drain. That way you can empty it when needed and still have the failsafe of the the pressure switch to cut off the skimmer if it overflows. Better than having it go nuts on you and draining your sump.........and running your ATO reservoir dry........and screwing up your salinity.........etc., etc.
  24. Yeah, the pump may be silent and efficient, but those becketts aren't silent!!
