  1. If it was me, I would just make a guide and use a dremmel to cut the baffles down. You may still have an few inches on each side that are still 12.5", but most of the baffle will be at the new height and lower the water level. Simply drilling holes in the baffles may get you a lower water level, but won't function as well as merely drilling holes in them.
  2. Definitely go with #3........way more options for corals and you still get the dual island look.
  3. I've got things figured out Eric. The trick is getting it up and running before momma has time to object.
  4. Tony - Feel free to put down what you find to be disadvantages of a needlewheel skimmer. My point is that these days they beat the becketts in all categories. They're quieter, more energy efficient, produce equal to better skimmate (having used both on my tank), and I don't run into any of the down times I did with the beckett. Jenn - You must have a magic skimmer!! I always had trouble with my MRC losing foam head.
  5. I was thinking of doing a 30g breeder or 30g long and doing that.
  6. thanks Dave. I've seen glass tanks with the sides resting on the bottom and with the sides surrounding the bottom. I've got some aquarium silicone but didn't know if there was some out there that was stronger than others. My current plan is to use 1/2" glass and have the sides surround the bottom.
  7. I'm wanting to build a glass frag tank that is 36x18x12 and had a couple of questions: What sized glass should I use? What is the best silicone that is readily available? Should the sides rest on the bottom pane or should they surround it? Thanks, Steve
  8. Becketts are good skimmers, but a real pain in the arse. Every time you feed........bubbles go away. Every time you clean the becketts.........bubbles go away. Everytime you use any glue or epoxy.......bubbles go away. If they came back in an hour that would be one thing, but my MRC would loose the foam had sometimes for over 24 hours. The needlewheel skimmers now perform amazingly well and don't require near as much maintenance. Get a nice recirculating external skimmer and put a swabbie and skimmate locker on it and you can skim forever without having to clean it..........well, close to forever. Just my .02.
  9. Is there any issue with running your Swabbie on a controller? I'd like to have it spin 4-5 times a day for a minute instead of continuous spinning. Will this cause too much wear and tear on the motor?
  10. And I have you beat.........I have three teenage daughters. Yes, I have experienced the devil in multiple forms!!
  11. Supplements for my Kessils..........Maybe a couple of 48" 14K LED strips. Oh, and help catching some fish!
  12. Ok, I figured it out. I've had a: 20g 55g 75g 120g 26g bowfront 65g 40g breeder 90g all-in-one 120g 125g 210g 34g Solana 60g cube 150g cube 34g Solana 60g cube Currently have a custom 210g
  13. Do I really have to do this??? The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.
  14. How old is it? I'm interested to hear this as well as I just bought 3 of those.
  15. Awesome. Glad to hear you found him a good home. He must have been fun to catch.
  16. Wait.......I only counted one Vlamingi..........what happened?
  17. If you're going with the evergrow, I'd put 2 d120s over the tank. Make sure you get a full spectrum layout. You could also go with a couple Kessel a 150 pendants. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

  19. Lol, they actually showed the hose being hooked up to a faucet on one of the episodes. These guys stink. H-E-double hockey sticks, my favorite part of season one was watching them try to pronounce the names of some of the fish.........priceless.
  20. It was the impeller. The magnet case cracked and swelled........game over.
  21. They disgust me. I don't give a $h1t how much money they are getting paid, they are just killing fish over and over again. I don't think I can count the number of episodes I've seen where they fill the tanks with tap water, throw in salt, and throw in fish. I'd really like to know what the survival rate of their livestock is. It has to be horrendous.
