  1. I would go with a 72 or 84" deep!
  2. tried one d120 6-8" off over a 30" wide 65gallon, standard optics, was not spread enough. I hung 2 in a "T" shape (worked ok with the overflow and rockwork) as I was not able to get 2 end to end in my canopy.
  3. TOO LONG!!! My office moves the beginning of MAY! Guess I pick up Tom on the way from Herndon...
  4. You are not biased, I went today to pic up the donations to the raffle Sat, and wanted to max the cc card.
  5. Just to clarify, the meeting itself will start at 1pm. We have the room at noon for those setting up any tanks or sale stuff, so they can come in early and not to fight through the crowds closer to the meeting. We promise we will not start without you.
  6. Sorry you can't make it. If you have questions or need help with anything, please speak up. Lots of reefers out in Loudoun.
  7. all good now... yes, I'm still at work...
  8. Our excuse in telepresence is that we need a tank for far end movement to test the video compression algorithms.
  9. VERY IMPORTANT NOTES ON LOCATION AND SETUP!!!! There are county basketball games going on, and during the meeting, so parking willl be interesting, please plan ahead. If you are not setting up or have armfuls to carry, enter through DOOR 9 and follow the signs. If you are setting up or have armfuls to carry, you can come around back and enter through DOOR 6. This door may not be propped open for long periods and must otherwise remained locked. If setting up a tank, THERE ARE LIMITED TABLES, bring your own stand! yAlso, there is limited power outlets, make sure you bring long extention cables and be prepared to share outlets.
  10. Unfortunately, Greg had to go to Borneo for a month, and will not be able to join us. POOR GREG! Please note the change in speakers and times.
  11. good info scott. Only thing I will add about the Otohime (haven't used the other). I bought one of the kits that had all the sizes. I found the smallest no better than crushed flake, and the fry was on it for a very short period. The large are too big for most fry. I would stick with B, C, and one or 2 others if you use that brand and not worry about the kit.
  12. Chuck, Breeding fish is an addiction all its own, cool that you are getting the bug. The next step is to look at rotifers and baby brine shrimp in a separate tank. Without the live foods for them, survival of the fry are next to impossible. The advice above is great, and the time is not at all wasted. It will pay off on the future spawns. Note your timing of eggs laid to hatch to respawn. Well fed fish are like clockwork.

While the aqueous environment did lend itself to the hobby, it limited her to freshwater species, and so she decided to be born several weeks early. Through sign language she demanded that her parents convert her crib into a reef aquarium and thus started her illustrious career in marine ornamentals. After completing her studies in biochemistry and molecular microbiology she went to work at Animal ER where unfortunately she was not filmed for the Animal Planet channel (though her feet did make a cameo during a rescue segment). Currently she is the head of the Industrial Marine Microbiology team for her division of a very large international chemical company, where she spends her days mixing chemicals, microorganisms and algae together and seeing if they will A) explode, B) glow in the dark, or C) make a good salsa. Currently she is the editor at the Reef.com blog and can be heard weekly opining on all things aquaria on Reef Threads. Special thanks to theses sponsors. 14. I tried one over a 30" tank, only about 8' off the water, and it was not enough spread. I went with 2 in a "T" formation (adjusted the rocks below) because 2 did not fit end to end for a 30" tank. Need to take some photos...
  15. Do you mean one that you don't have to do any diy wiring?
  16. At Home dept/Lowes they sell timers that fit in a single gang box that do that. Just make sure you get the normally on ones, that cut out for the timer.
  17. Save the date! 2 Speakers - One on disease/meds, one on fish/nautilus. Elections Lots of swapping Lots of raffles Full details posted VERY soon (location being nailed down, again), but wanted to get you all the date.
  18. asfur and imperator ate zoos and clam, left my sps, leathers, and euphyllia alone.
  19. for once, it didn't happen to me. I had one go partially over once with a non brute can on a dolly. Spilled 10 or so gallons. I'm on a second wetdry vac, rusted the first out with saltwater spills.
  20. I can't wait Billy. My office near there, do put me on the list if you need anything during the day. Congrats
