  1. Heniochus acuminatus Pendantfish or wimplefish = butterfly
  2. I have emailed manyy times to register, and just never got a reply. Is this something WE (wamas) provide a login for, or is this another entity. If I provide the wrong info when I try to login, I get a link to register, i click it and it tells me they are not accepting new registrations. Who sets the limits? Is wamas overbooked and we are awaiting more space to upgrade?
  3. great, now you can show me how to post myself. Question of the year - DO I NEED A DIFFERNT LOGIN TO POST TO THE GALLERY????
  4. from the website, worth a look Announcement: This is in regards to single ended XM 10KK bulbs: Please be inform that there was a slight mechanical problem with where the glass and the metal socket seal being broken and damaged during transit or during installation if not handled with extra care. We have already fixed this problem by strengthening this area of the bulb and already incorporated into production for future products already in production. We estimate a fraction of a percentage with this problem but with many thousands in the field there are legitimate problems with some users. Our policy is to stand behind our products and every effort will be made for full replacement for legitimate problem bulbs. For replacements please see following conditions and instructions: The bulbs only apply to 10KK single ended bulbs. The damaged bulbs with seal broken will have white or milky deposit at the bottom of glass near the socket. It should be black/silver. For replacements, please ship the bulbs to: XM 1539 W. 5. My "supplier" of acrylic ended up giving misinformation (it is stored in our warehouse). My tubing is 4.5"OD 4"ID ext acrylic, not the 6" as I had previously thought. I may still modify my design a little to make use of this, but it may be tight. So any tubing I was going to donate to the cause, just fell by the wayside. There is still a bit of sheet lying around my house we can work with. Please keep me informed when the order is going in for acrylic as I may just order the 6" anyway. Sorry, Doug
  6. I'll take one. XL Now if I could convince the wife to let me actually play a round! Maybe if I get her the WAMAS thong......? ....yea right!
  7. I have attempted all these methods as well. Getting the pressure right with the toothpicks and line is just too touchy, and I would always split them or would find it somewhere else in the tank a day later. I usually just let them settle in a quiet area of the tank, or in some small container with some coral rubble or argonite, let then attach to the small rock, then super glue the base with small attached rock to a larger one. Then, you don't burn the base.
  8. Please count me in on the kalk reactor. I have a bit of acrylic already but need to inventory before contributing. May cut down on a some of the order.
  9. I do? Might want to try again, or email me at dbarthur9@hotmail.com.
  10. Thought I would jump in with a suggestion. I work for a videoconferencing company here in NOVA. There are plenty of interactive ways for schools to use the web to access live video feeds of a tank. Can even take camera control and pan, tilt, and zoom in on various items of interest in the tank. Eliminates the hassle of moving, the problems with maintenence, depending on where it is located. Zoos have always had the ability to use web cams, but there are ways to take it further and more interactive. Our company has been taking "virtual field trips" with the Fairfax Co. P.S. for the last couple of years. In any event, I'm sure I could get equipment (as long as there are logos!) to be used. Anyone know if the zoo is doing anything similar now?
  11. Been trying to get rid of some leathers. Might be through Fredrcksburg on the 14th weekend sometime. Capnella, sarcophyton and zoo's.- pics Interested, PM .
  12. Don't remember the name of the store there in Manasass, but that is where I found the cheapest tank, w/o going towards baltimore. Quoted $640 on a rr 180, not sure about livestock quality though. A.S.Pets, Aquatic world, vienna and wally's, and most everything else, was in the $700's. Does seem to depend on timing and avail, so call around. Glasscages.com is good if you want to wait for a show.

    Aiptasia

Micheal, Copperbands ever go after mojanos? Peppermints have taken care of aptasia anems, but don't touch the mojanos. I have gone acidic and basic, but they have always shown their heads again in a couple of months. Doug
  14. Michael, I definitely want to attend, at least to watch. I was looking to build a kalk reactor, but need to learn how to work with these materials. Hope to get in if you do a bulk order too. Doug

    Rock Making

Would be interested inattending on 7th
  16. Depends. Are you going to call me a dumbs#@! for fouling up my regulator, or just generally curious? My excuse is that I graduated EE, not ME.
  17. Thats what the instructions recommend. I added the "blowing up the second stage" for fun.
  18. After blowing the pressure relief valve on a new regulator across the room, I closed ALL valves (and you know where I'm going on this!), replaced it and turned on the main CO2 tank. The secondary is now hosed. I guess the diaphram is gone too since it reads about 140 psi, goes around to the pin when on, and all pressure is on the needle. Can it be fixed, or am I off to get another. Please tell me there are others that might have goofed up in their first calc reactor, and I'm not the only idiot?
  19. Send pics of the babies, even if they were unwanted red-headed stepchildren I threw out of my house.
  20. using their gallery. looked fine in a preview when I first posted. ?????? I'm new to this, does RC block posting to their galleries? Do I need to post them somewhere else on the internet other than my gallery on RC? or try RC thread
  21. by the way, this went on for about 45 min until the lights went out.
  22. Started this in reefcentral, but thought I'd try here to. This is a pic of my tang in and amonst my LT anemone last night. Occasinally he would take a chomp on a tentacle. The anemone was spawing at the time. First time I've seen this, for both of these instances. Any thoughts on how he could get away with this without getting "stung" like mad? Everything looked fine this morning. Thoughts?
  23. Will be showing up with some sort of dish? (fruit probably). Doug Arthur
