  1. Looks like the new tank will be full from the start Darren
  2. Sad to see the shortcake not make it, that was one of the prettiest colonies of it that I had ever seen. How do you get your firecracker so bright? Yours looks better than mine…. Darren
  3. Your parameters are fine, my first guess is that you have a fish that likes LPS. I had a similar problem when I had an aiptasia eating filefish that picked at all my LPS. I eventually caught him in the act after killing most of the lps in my tank. Funny thing is, he never touched the aiptasia…..his favorite was rainbow acans….. Darren
  4. Nice, looks like a good food for tangs Darren
  5. Once again, great work! I just read this for the first time…..great details provided. Thanks for keeping us posted Darren
  6. I too use ATI T5s and reefbrite LEDs….my recommendation is 3 blue plus bulbs and one actinic bulb. Or maybe 2 blue plus, one purple plus and one actinic….either would look good. Just be careful as that is a lot of light for a small tank. Darren
  7. Hi, How often do you have to clean the glass due to salt spray? I have contemplated a glass top (due to the reasons you list) but was worried I would have to wipe down the top daily…… Darren
  8. Hi, I used the Alkatronic and was overall pleased with it. I still use the Dosetronic and love it. Like others have said, I am not an apex fan and over time have moved to a less automated set up. I think alkalinity and pH are the only parameters I would need to track daily and even then it is overkill. I needed it early on when “dialing” in my system but nowadays I check alk once a week along with nitrate phosphate and salinity. I check calcium and magnesium every two weeks and find little change in them…..I can’t imagine a scenario where I would need to know that type of information daily. If a tank is moving around that quickly you have bigger problems…..my recommendation would be to take that money and invest it in making easier / more water changes. That has been probably the best money I have spent on my tank. Darren
  9. Keep up the good work, interesting how it appears to have changed in color from when I originally purchased it (maybe it was already stressed / sick at that time). When I purchased it it was bright orange/ red with lime green streaks. Now it appears more red with dark blue and muted green streaks. It was stung by a jawbreaker and that started the downward spiral that I couldn’t get it out of….I am convinced that it would be dead if I had kept it. Way to go! Darren
  10. We’re you able to save my scolymia that was on a long decline for me? I hope so ? Darren
  11. Really nice work, that is the first time I have seen someone remove an isopod from a shrimp….thanks for sharing Darren
  12. Nice work! Keep us posted on how they develop…… Darren
  13. I have owned a few elegance corals over the years and I would not purchase a fragged one…..they are pretty common and hardier than in the past, but I have found that saving a buck rarely pays in the long term…… Darren
  14. Hi , for all tropic Marin pro users it appears there is some issue with the salt that has been manufactured in Turkey. There is quite a bit on Reef2reef, but thought I would give a heads up to my fellow reefers https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/pro-reef-salt-from-turkey.877589/ Darren
  15. I have used neophos when my phosphates went to zero and I had a Dino bloom….my recommendation is to take it slow. Are you having problems with the tank? Just be careful chasing numbers as that can lead to more problems. Darren
  16. I caught my jellies in the Chesapeake…..I tried comb jellies (Ctenophores) and sea nettles. The hardest part is getting the flow right. I purchased my tank from jelliquarium. I have a legit kriesel tank (sp?). I hope to fire the aquarium up again when I get more time…..next time I will try the aquacultured moon jellies as I hope they would survive longer….. Darren
  17. Capital aquarium sells LRS reef frenzy and they are a wamas sponsor. I prefer nano reef frenzy and use it to feed both fish and LPS corals. I have tried almost every frozen food out there and it is my favorite. Darren
  18. You just don’t see many red granulosa acros, which makes this unique, at least to me. It grows really dense, almost like an efflo….this might be because it gets blasted with flow. I purchased a small frag of this from a guy named Peng on Reef2reef. cheers, Darren
  19. I thought I would share some pics of this unique acro for the stick heads in wamas:
