  1. Can anyone tell me if there’s anything visually missing, or not correct about this skimmer, or does it appear to be in order? It has the collection cup, I just took it off, and I do see that the airline tube on the left side isn’t plugged into the nozzle at the bottom. I just don’t know if anything is supposed to go where I circled in yellow, or if they’re supposed to stay just wide open like that? I’m familiar with Somewhat similar skimmers, which I feel like definitely have what would be equivalently missing from this one.
  2. I keep saying I’m done with LEDs, but it’s just not fair! I dont want to go back to overheating my room, and paying like $200+ a year to replace the bulbs! I just want to be able to get a successful fixture like most people do lol! And most people don’t have to buy 3 fixtures and counting! 4, if I want to try again!
  3. Thanks, me too lol! mine are the Opposite...they HAD connection only periodically, and now they never do, even with the WiFi extender I got just for them, which is less than 10ft from them. They’re still on and running, but I need to change them cause While before they were just upsetting my corals, they finally seem to have begun burning them, but Of course now I can’t do anything about it, cause they won’t register on reefbeat anymore.
  4. I just emailed RedSea back and asked them if I can just send them in for a refund. I was corresponding back&forth with customer service for awhile about these, so luckily they know it’s been an ongoing problem I’ve been getting their help for, for awhile now, so I’m crossing my fingers that they’ll be willing to help me out. If not, I’m screwed, unless anyone else wants to buy them and the mounts for most of what I paid for them, or trade for them or something, but I think I have a much better chance with RedSea than I do THAT! Lol What did u do with/about ur 90’s?
  5. Are the controllers Physical objects that come with the lights, or is it something online?
  6. Yeah, I believe ur probably right! That’s why I miss all the previous lighting systems so much! The only issue at all was if a fixture was good or bad quality, not what it did, cause all lighting systems did one thing—turn on/turn off, and for the most part I hadn’t heard of, or can remember hearing of any fixtures that were just poor quality, for any type of lighting. If u want halide, go buy a halide fixture, just figure out the wattage u want, which is as easy as finding out what length fixture u need. if u want T5, go buy a T5 fixture....easy as that. Now with LEDs, fixtures not only range all the way from great down to trash, but for a million different reasons, some which matter a lot, some matter to almost no one, and...yadda yadda yadda...:/ At the moment LED fixtures are the bane of my existence! I really wish they were as hot as other fixtures, and didn’t save money on electricity, and didn’t eliminate a lot of bulb replacement costs, so I didnt have to really want them!
  7. What do u mean not controllable? Like no buttons or settings or anything, just plug in, and that’s that? How big is it? Looks like I would need 2 for a 4ft tank
  8. Yeah, i definitely would prefer not to go back to halides, but that WAS one of the nicest looking&growing set ups I had. The other one was an 8tube T5 fixture(just on a 55gal), but that gets even more expensive to change than my halide/power compact fixture, and I might have to replace the fixture if I wanted to do it again, anyway, as I’m not sure if all 8 spots are still working.
  9. Wow, that’s way cheaper than these Red Sea reefLEDS!!!
  10. Lol as little as possible! I’ve already wasted a ton of money! I can’t afford spending another thousand bucks or anything like that. I guess it could depend on if I can sell my other fixtures, but of course that probably wouldn’t be a quick process, so I dunno. I guess at this point I’d be interested in at least finding out about anything that’s as reliable and practically flawless as I need. I can figure out my budget after I can move or not move the others.
  11. I know I may be asking for the world +1, but hey, some people DO win the lottery! If anyone can help me out with suggestions, I would be infinitely grateful!!! I cannot, and absolutely AM not spending a ton more money, but I would need to find a fixture that I can rely upon and trust(that’s gonna be a toughie). I need to find something that just plain does NOT have problems. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas of what , if there is anything, would work for me? I might sound picky, but if youve talked to me before and knew my situation, or saw my previous post about my Red Sea reefLEDs, then u can understand why i might be getting a little on the picky side! I’d really LIKE to have an LED fixture that is as good as people make them sound like they are, and not have to go back to T5s, or halides, but at this point I 100% do not believe that’s gonna happen. I’ve never had a single problem with any lights every, except from getting very old and overused, be it incandescent, fluorescent, PC, halide, or T5, but all 3 LED fixtures I’ve tried.....well, I’m already an idiot for giving them a 3rd chance, let alone even considering a 4th! Fool me once.....how often do people get to “Well, fool me four times....”! Lol *i DID learn ONE lesson, though! I would only be interested in anything that is, or can be manual—where you can set/run/do everything manually o the fixture itself.
  12. Yes, thankfully it DOES still remember the settings and continue working without the connections, but right now that’s part of the problem. You’re talking about Red Sea reefLEDs too?
  13. I got 2 redsea reefLED fixtures, and let me just say...I have never been more upset, frustrated, and infuriated with any piece of equipment EVER!!!! First of all, what kind of nonsense is making it so that the ONLY way to use it is through WiFi and an app?!?! Nothing should EVER not have the ability to be used manually! Other than preference, it’s just plain stupid! WiFi can go out, not be strong enough, or any number of other things, which leave u with either no lighting if u have to just turn it off, or no control over it at all! I can’t get over how idiotic that was to do!!!!!! Mine, with much much much corresponding back and forth with RedSea, are the most unreliable piece of trash ever! At first the new one(I bought a used one and a new one) wouldn’t connect to the app, even tho everything was going exactly according to the instructions, and then it eventually DID, but I then had to hard reset the used one to change the settings, but then THAT one stopped appearing(I’m GREATLY abbreviating things, and leaving issues out), even after hard resetting/deleting and starting over. Once I got the WiFi extended they worked for a day, and I was able to set them up, but then they stopped showing up again, no matter what I did, but the lights were running as I wanted, so whatever, but now I need to reset it to “acclimation” and change other stuff, but now they just plain don’t show up on the app at all, even tho I had to buy, and pay monthly for a WiFi extender, JUST for these. I’m not really asking for suggestions on how to work them, they’re trash and I want nothing to do with them anymore, although if u actually know what’s wrong, I’d like to know, cause RedSea doesn’t even know, cause they can’t help. I’m asking for suggestions on other lighting. I may be done with LEDS. I said I’ll give it one more chance, and this was chance 3, and I’ve never dealt with more trash than LED fixtures In general, but If anyone knows any fixtures that don’t cost a ton, as I’ve now thrown away over a grand, that are basically perfect, that just plain do NOT have any problems, I’d b interested in hearing about them.
  14. The only other fish in the tank is a cleaner wrasse that’s doing perfectly fine. Right away I put him in a floating breeding trap and stuck it right in front of the flow, so it’s getting plenty of circulation through it. There’s no visible signs of anything other than his massive eyes being dull. Not cloudy eye, it looks different. The tank is dark 24/7, except for the very front that gets ambient light for the sake of the wrasse, so I know it doesn’t have damage from light, or anything. I’ll lower the salinity right away, like you suggested. I don’t think I can use copper with a flashlight, though. I’ll try and look into their medicinal tolerances some more, but very sadly, safe medications, even more than just antibiotics, seem to be very limited with bioluminescent fish.
  15. What exactly is a sweeper tentacle? I know the super long individual tentacles Galaxia sends out for the purpose of finding and attacking other corals is a sweeper tentacle, but when other corals send out individual extended tentacles, like goniopora(which I believe is for still just for feeding, right?), are they still actually sweepers, even if theyre not for aggression?
  16. My flashlight fish stopped eating 4 or 5 days ago, but was still swimming around(he was a pig before that), and then 3 days ago he was laying on the bottom on his side. I was expecting him to die later that day, but he’s still very alive, and can shoot around when disturbed, but just lays unsupported(on his side/back, unable to keep himself up) on the ground. I feel awful cause I don’t know what I can do to help! I keep wishing I would find him having passed, so he wasn’t suffering anymore, but he seems to be hanging on quite strongly. I can’t come up with anything, but I feel like there must be SOMETHING I can do:( Does anyone have any ideas???
  17. Yeah, it was very confusing. They were listed separately from yellow tangs on a suppliers list, not by the people of the region who might call them that. You’d think they would list them as yellow tangs, or at LEAST list them as zebrasoma flavescens if that’s what they really are, instead of zebrasoma sp. That’s the part that makes the least sense to me now. Even if they felt like they REALLY should leave out “yellow tang”, calling it anything but “zebrasoma flavescens” just seems inaccurate.
  18. So they have no unusual coloration or hue, or anything, it’s just a jerky marketing technique? Mans cool, thanks, I never knew then exact idea behind sp.spp. I always thought when they used “sp.” it was saying it’s a subspecies, or enough of an abnormality that could be/become a subspecies. And I guess I would’ve assumed spp. Was either interchangeable, or a typo lol
  19. Are they orange? Or have an orange hue, or something? We’re wondering why they’re called citrus in the first place. That’s a good idea of why, if they ARE more orange.
  20. Now that I’m going to be getting clams again, I figure I should try to get answers for some questionable things. I know it’s a horrible sign, and usually a precursor to death, but what’s the deal with clams opening their intake siphons super wide? What specifically is causing them to do that? Water generally not to their liking, or some specific aspect about the water, or maybe the last leg of starvation, or what??? From what I’ve seen, that’s d there anything that can be done to help, once it starts? Also, when a clam blows out a milky cloud could that be anything OTHER than spawn? If they do that shortly after being introduced, is that a sign things aren’t going well?
  21. Does anyone know what a citrus tang is? From everything I can gather, they are yellow tangs from Guam. Are they orange? What’s the difference between them and regular yellow tangs? Also, I see them listed as Zebrasoma sp., not zebrasoma flavescens.
  22. Thanks for the heads up about springers, that’s great to know! They’re beautiful, too!
  23. I always would PREFER to get captive bred, but i generally can’t afford them. I guess that’s why they’re not as available as they could be:/
  24. I didn’t know about springers, are they good for all flatworms?
