  1. I need to be put on the par waiting list, how do I go about that?
  2. Actually, it turned out that most of the screws in the boxes I bought were off by whatever is the smallest measurement there is lol. I had to get 3 boxes of the screws in order to find enough that fit! I got it all set up now, though:)
  3. What the heck is THIS stupid thing? This is what’s ruining everything, both on the rusted original filter, and the brand new bucket/motor! It’s why I can’t remove the rusted screws, and the hole is too small for any screws to fit through. It’s not just one of them, it’s all of them are just SLIGHTLY too small for screws to screw in.
  4. I have NOT, I didn’t think to look for that, thanks, I’ll do that
  5. I’ll take pictures. Sadly tho, with the replacements I just got, I realized that it’s 100% impossible for me to do anything with the screws(on or off), even in brand new pieces. Fx5 uses some weird not-nut pieces I’ve never seen, that screws don’t seem to go into, and by removing them there’s no room to hold an actual but stable to screw into. It doesn’t help that they give u no room to work:/ at this point I’m probably gonna hafta just buy a new one, and try to return the motor and bucket:(
  6. My original fx5 motor is stuck(maybe just needs a tap, or something?), but the screws r rusted, so I had to buy a new bucket and new motor, but it’s seemingly impossible to do anything with screwing it on. The bucket has these weird things instead of nuts, and the screws, which leave u no room to work with, don’t seem to go in. I’m about to return them and buy a whole new fx5 or fx4, but hate the idea of that much money, especially cause I’m just stuck by stupid rusty screws, and again by stupid Fluval parts. I guess my last option is to see if I can find someone who would be able to try to do it for me, if it’s even possible. I already put in for returning the bucket and motor, but can cancel the requests, but don’t want to put that and a working filter off, so I just have by the weekend at the longest. If anyone local(Columbia, Howard county)can help, I’d be happy to hear from you!
  7. Although theyre clearly not the same as those harmless opaque whitish species, i want to say that these are another type of harmless planaria that just appear now and then in a tank, but looking at pictures, they sure do look a lot like those nasty red bugs! Theres a good amount of them, at least on the glass, but they don’t seem to be swarming on/around, or hurting anything.
  8. Are these actually pikachu zoas(1st picture)? I do see multiple search results with similar looking zoas that have the small blue/not-white centers, labeled as pikachus, like in picture 2, but much more of the results, and what I see for sale, are the other type here, with wider centers, that are clearly white, with the defined border between the center and the rest of the yellow face, like pictures 3&4.
  9. R u serious, u went to all that trouble just to get that picture for me? That is incredibly thoughtful and outgoing, i really appreciate that! *sorry for the delay, I have ongoing very distracting things going on, that I end up not getting around to quite a few things till much later:( I definitely want to thank you, though!
  10. yeah, it was absolutely gorgeous at first, but sadly, and oddly, it actually got a lot less pretty as it got less stressed. the body lightened up from being almost black, to a dull dark blue, with 2 also dull, slightly lighter blue stripes along the length, and it’s pretty blue face marking, and trim faded to a duller, much less visible blue:( i just don’t have a place for lyretail wrasses right now, so that’s why i didn’t get it before, but i was very glad later, when i saw its non-stressed, way less attractive colors.
  11. even though this “mystery” wrasse is the same size as the other red sea cleaners i’ve come across, i did originally considered the potential age/growth issue too, as well as possible regional variations, but from all i’ve found, juveniles and adults of these red sea cleaners have the same shape and patterns, and all, and since all pictures i’ve found anywhere look the same, i’m assuming there aren’t major regional differences. The wrasse in question’s blue stripes are similar to the one in the link you provided, except still even significantly dimmer. i know color/intensity is very variable, but i’ve never seen any in pictures or in person, even a very stressed out cleaner, with stripes as dim as this one, let alone an acclimated, that’s up and about, and eating. i wouldn’t consider something like intensity of stripes as significant, if it wasn’t for the other differences. even if it was some red sea cleaner mimic, i’d imagine it would look more similar, both shape and colors.
  12. it’s supposed to be a red sea cleaner wrasse, and today it does have the same blue stripes, although they’re extremely dim compared to real red sea cleaners, but despite the same stripes, and even same mouth, there significant differences that i don’t think can be reconciled. it seems to have a noticeably different shape, the fins are shaped a bit different, it doesn’t have the 2 dark black dots on the back of the anal and dorsal fins, it DOES have that unusual blue pattern under the eyes, which i can’t find any pictures of the cleaners with anything like that, but the biggest tell to me, is that the tail is EXTREMELY different, both in color, and complete shape. this appears to be some weird lyretail wrasse with a cleaner wrasse mouth.
  13. it looks black in most light, but sometimes it looks very dark blue, like in the picture. that very faint blue stripe down its length is actually present, it’s not just from the lighting. it appears to be some sort of lyretail wrasse, but i can’t even find anything CLOSE, lyretail or not.
  14. i had noticed that in my tank, even tho they always school in at the store. mine seemed to get along fine, after they seemingly got rid of one or two, early on. it was usually 1 by itself and 2 sort of together, but they weren’t aggressive to eachother. all 4 chromis schooled together until eventually one became more independent, but also no aggression. has anyone heard that halloween hermits are potentially dangerous to fish? what about other hermits when they get larger, like quarter-size? i’ve always heard scarlets are perfect gentlemen, but only a couple are scarlets, and there’s a halloween, and then at least a couple of few large assorted(maybe zebra, maybe red leg, maybe some other type, i’m not sure).
  15. by any chance, was it a type of bristletooth tang?
  16. i can’t BELIEVE i’m doing this AGAIN!! my big led fixture just had 3 of the 4 panels stop working at once(does anyone have any suggestions about what happened/way to fix?) apparently i need new lighting. i was looking at reviews, and they seem so bias, and unreliable. i can’t find anything that’s either highly rated by the site, but ALSO highly rated by consumers, and also cheap! this will be my 5th system:( and the first 4 i was insanely unhappy with:(:(:( the only other absolute requirement is that it can’t be accessible just through an app. it MUST be completely workable and adjustable from the unit itself. can anyone help me out, and give me thoughts on what would possibly fit what i’m looking for?
  17. someone ordered me a basket star instead of a feather star, and i THOUGHT their care was pretty much the same as feather stars, but it snatched a full krill i had put in for the hermits to eat, and seems to be gnawing on it! do they eat/feed off of large things? seeing it with the krill makes me worry that it might even catch live little fish! i want, and plan, once my other problem is solved, on having a tank full of little gobies and such, so i don’t want something ELSE snatching up all my fish!
  18. i tried to edit this post, and then just delete and rewrite, cause it won’t let me edit it anymore, but i don’t see how to delete it either. some of the time frames i gave are WAY off! i’m a horrible judge of time, after awhile, and i get even worse the longer ago it was! i just saw when i bought something i can use a reference, which i had figured was around a year ago, but was actually early 2019, so reconsidering, using that as a point of reference, here’s the updates.....the period of time of things disappearing was much longer, and many of the fish had been around much longer before they suddenly disappeared. the bangaii situation started like 2018 or so, i had the green chromis for pretty much that long too, i had the damsel(yellow tail)for at least a year. the hectors disappeared after probably a year and a half or more, and the 2 gobies probably after a little over a year to a year and a half. the mandarin disappeared after probably 2+ years. the pygmy hawk that might be gone as of the other day, has been here for around 2years, too.
  19. i’ve been having a rash of fish disappearing over time, and there doesn’t seem to be any pattern. i’ll have free swimming fish disappear while rock hugging fish don’t, then nothing for a long time, and all of sudden one kind of fish, and then.....what could be happening?!? i would have bangaii cardinals disappear, but not all, so i figured the 3 main stays kept killing the others, or chasing them to starve. the last 3 stayed apart, and weren’t a school, then there were 2, after some months, then month later just one, then adding some more, they were gone within days. and the last one gone just days ago. a long term yellow watchman disappeared a couple months ago. had 4 green chromosomes and 1 disappeared after maybe 6 months, then 5 or 6 months after that(a few weeks ago) all 3 disappeared at the same point, possibly together, at the exact same time, and then months later a 4-6month damsel disappeared. i had a happy healthy hectors goby disappear after 5-7ish months, and 2 more gobies after 8 or 9 months each. i had 2 of the 4 recent addition neon gobies disappear within days. my 7,8month happy&fat mandarin might be gone as of the past week or so. all i still have is 1 long term goby, and one from a couple months ago, 2 few week neon gobies, a long term bicolor angel, a brand new baby hippo, and possibly a pygmy/geometric hawk fish, that i saw just 2 days ago, but now feel like it might be gone, too. oh yeah, and a fire shrimp that has been in there longer than almost anything! iv set traps, and caught nothing, i’ve never heard mantis shrimp snaps or noises, so i’m pretty sure no mantis, it’s almost all the same rock i’ve used in previous tanks with no problems, which has all dried and died inbetween, so i don’t know how any hitchhikers could be doing this. i do have a couple brittle stars, but have never EVER had, or HEARD of them being problematic. i do have a number of “large” hermits (most still so small they’re in shells no larger than an inch, and maybe a couple or few a bit bigger), including a halloween hermit, which iv heard can be aggressive, but have never had that experience before. i can’t imagine having a bobbit worm, or anything, cause even if it came in TINY off a coral, i still think the disappearance were from way before a tiny one could have gotten large enough to take ANYthing, let alone be responsible for this massacre! i’ve never seen any aggression, i’ve never found any bodies or signs, iv looked closely all around the outside of the tank, and in the sump, and found nothing at all! there’s never been a pattern/M.O., like only rock hugging fish disappearing, or only free swimming fish disappearing, or anything. the easiest targets for anything, like the mandarin, the gobies, and especially the shrimp, seem to last just as long, and even way longer than the very difficult free swimming targets. the thing that REALLY confuses me the MOST, is the 3 long term chromis all disappearing together, or almost together. PLEASE HELP!!! does anyone have ANY clue what the *#@%! is going on?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?the only things that i can see as even a possibility, are the hermit crabs, but i just can’t believe they’re capable of that kind of carnage, and they would definitely have gotten the mandarin and gobies first! i WOULD include the brittle stars, but they came in long after things had been disappearing. *no anemones. *not “green death” brittle stars
  20. can anyone ID this for me? it’s supposed to be a melanurus, but it’s not a male, and its kinda close, but doesn’t appear to be a female, from what i can tell either. i can’t find pictures of a changing one. it’s also very close to some pictures of orange-lined/adorned wrasse, but i just can’t find any pictures of it, exactly:/ *if it IS a female melanurus, is it safe to keep a male and female together?
  21. Does anyone know of, or even familiar with MICMOL lighting? I’ve never even heard of that company. Someone who is upgrading tanks has offered me these MICMOL LED fixtures, which SOUND perfectly fine from descriptions, and I saw pictures of his tank with them on, and they looked fantastic, and are apparently very easy to work with. Previously I would’ve jumped on the offer, but this will be my 4th attempt at LED fixtures, and since most of the ones I’ve gotten were used, I’m a little worried about getting used, even tho the new LEDs I’ve gotten were just as problematic as any used, but what is making me question the most, is that it’s a brand I’ve never even heard of before. This is the first time I’ve heard or seen the name MICMOL. Can anyone give me any Info or personal review of these fixtures?
  22. Whats a wedge valve? Sorry if it’s a dumb question, but I don’t have much experience with this type of skimmer.
  23. Lol yes it is. I FINALLY got around to cleaning it off...relatively speaking. I got everything like the tube worms off, anyway. I didn’t really have a use for it, so it fell to the way back burner, but I figure I might as well hook up a sump back up to my 2nd tank, since I won’t hafta strip them down and move them, till at least late spring, and that sump is perfect for this skimmer. It’s a bit on the large side for the tank, but as long as it works, it could make things a lot easier.
  24. I have a Berlin x2 Venturi skimmer which i tried setting up, since I’ve recently been having problems with my, and the 2 new seaclone skimmers i got, but even though it SEEMS to be working, I can’t get any air to go in. I can’t find any troubleshooting info, or even detailed set-up instructions, and since everything looks fine, I have no idea what to do with it. Does anyone have experience with them, and any thoughts on troubleshooting for air not going in? *does anyone have any general thoughts about this type of skimmer? I never really used it, as I got a better one right after I got this real cheap, so I didn’t even get a chance to see how well worked. Or obviously, familiar enough with it to figure out what’s wrong with it, now. the picture is exactly what I have, with all the exact same parts/pieces. I actually somehow can’t find a real photo of the EXACT skimmer/model even though I know it was not an obscure skimmer. And mine appears to be in exactly the same situation/set-up as the picture. *i have the correct pump for it, that’s working perfectly fine. Mine didn’t come with the pump, but I looked into it, and it’s the exact one it is supposed to have, and I DID actually set it up and see it run correctly, with the air working, back in the day when I first got it, but for less than a day.
