  1. Thanks for those, but trying to keep it cheap as I need to buy 4 pairs.
  2. I use suction cup holders both in my RODI reservoir and sump to hold the RODI tubing, but the suction cups keep falling off. Tried new ones and still fall off. I thought about maybe super gluing it to a magnet, but want to make sure the magnet is reef safe. I read that ceramic ones are, but want to check to see if anyone here has tried this or if there is a better solution.
  3. Check out the stickies over in the Fish Disease Treatment and Diagnosis forum over at R2R. There's a lot of useful information there: http://www.reef2reef.com/forums/fish-disease-treatment-and-diagnosis.771/
  4. Really cool. I am surprised the nems don't get damaged (either by the claws or their feet) when getting pulled off the shell..
  5. They both move a lot of water. I didn't do a direct comparison between the two, but did enjoy more flow options with the Jebaos hooked up to the apex.
  6. It was before the gyre had the apex controller (either that or the apex controller was too expensive). So I went back to the jebaos for more controllability with my apex.
  7. I think my longnose hawkfish may be pregant:
  8. Nem split the other day...
  9. I have a burgessi and he picked on a tiny RBTA I had but leaves the large one alone. I removed the small RBTA.
  10. What happened to your burgessi?
  11. Yes, you can adjust intensity with the Prime. It's easier to do from a computer than mobile, but can still be done. You can set the overall light spectrum (10k, 12k, 20k, etc) and intensity (percentage). Right now you are in the custom spectrum mode, where you adjust the intensities of the individual colors. To toggle to the overall color spectrum mode, in your screenshot above, click on the circle thing to the left of the "Done" button. The outer circle is the spectrum and the inner circle is the intensity.
  12. You can try giving him a bunch of rubble. He may leave your corals alone.
  13. House of Tropicals may be your best bet. Not many of the LFS carry tanks in stock (they take up a lot of room). You can try Centreville Aquarium and Congressional Aquarium, but HOT has the most I've seen in stock.
  14. The 2 puffers don't bother the corals. When I put new pieces in, the burgessi and bicolor do nip a bit initially, probably more out of curiosity, then they leave them alone. The 2 hawks like to perch on all the montis and the gorgs. Not sure if that irritate the corals or not.
  15. Well, that didn't last long...the coral bug hit and it's no longer a FOWLR: I got most of the pieces from fellow WAMAS members. What a great community.
  16. FYI, Petsmart is having a tank sale. Dollar per gallon with additional 10% off for online orders. 10, 20, and 40 gallon tanks.
  17. Make sure to check out Jim Welsh's alkalinity monitor device and give us a report. http://www.reef2reef.com/threads/automatic-regular-unattended-alkalinity-monitoring.264562/
  18. You can also just use regular ice cubes in a ziploc bag as well.
  19. According to his FB page: 45681 Oakbrook Ct. #110, Sterling, Virginia 20166 Hours: Wed-Sat 11 am - 8 pm; Sun 12 pm - 6 pm (571) 723-2738 I would call before heading over there though, because as I stated above, the last 2 times I tried going there during business hours, he was closed via post it note on the door.
  20. Dropped by today and guess what? Closed again! Post it note said closed for maintenance. Better call before trying to check these guys out. Either I have the worst luck or these guys are closed alot.
  21. ReefEscape in Fairfax Incredible Corals in Manassas Blue Ribbon Koi in Catharpin Centreville Aquarium - does not really have corals, but has sw fish and some dry goods
  22. Just FYI in case anyone tries going there today (Sunday). They closed early today. I found out the hard way. At least I didn't take the toll road.
  23. Nothing is really that close to Nationals Park. Closest (and on your way home) is probably Quantum Reefs, but they haven't had a good livestock selection recently. Tropical Lagoon usually has a good selection, but is opposite from your way home. Reef Escape may be your best bet. Not exactly close, but probably the closest with a good selection. Check their facebook page as they usually will post their fish livestock list up.
  24. Based on their websites/social media: Incredible Corals closes at 7:00 pm on Sun Reef eScape closes at 5:30 pm on Sun Quantum Reefs closes at 5 pm on Sun Blue Ribbon Koi closes at 5 pm on Sun Tropical Lagoon closes at 5 pm on Sun Better call to double check though.
  25. I use a Hanna Checker ULR Phosphorous, but it won't help you with your problem. Elevated phosphate levels usually will lead to hair algae problems, not diatoms or dinos. Dinos in their early stages look like diatoms. One definite way to tell is through a microscope. There are guys on R2R that you can send a sample to and they will id it for you. A more basic way is to siphon off some water, pass it through a paper towel, then shake the water. Dinos will clump back together after a time: http://www.reef2reef.com/threads/helpful-method-for-identifying-dinoflagellates.216508/
