  1. Petland's sale is still going. I was just there and they had a bunch of 200g reef crystals boxes for 39.99. I didn't see any boxes of IO, just a few 160g buckets.
  2. It was 150-ish.
  3. Do they keep their inverts separate from their fish?
  4. Welcome! We are fortunate to have many good local fish stores here in our area. On this site, under "About WAMAS" click on the LFS Map and you will get a listing and map of the LFSes in this area. My personal favorite is Quantum Reefs, which has a good selection of dry goods and healthy livestock at very competitive prices.
  5. I had this custom acrylic ATO reservoir made by melev's reef. Couldn't be happier with Marc's outstanding customer service and craftsmanship. I had it made to fit perfectly under my stand, next to my sump, with room to spare for future reactors. It measures 10" x 14" x 25" and holds close to 15 gallons. I had a 3/8" inch hole drilled on the top left for tubing to feed my Avast peristaltic pump. I had a 1/4" hole drilled in the top back for a float valve. There's a hinged door on the top with a notch on the side for a power cord for a submersible pump.

  11. I'm doing tank transfer and quarantining everything wet going into the DT. I'd rather not have a ticking time bomb sitting in the DT.
  12. You probably won't find 37% formalin anywhere locally. You can try looking for Kordon Rid Ich Plus, which is 4.26% formalin plus malachite green. QuICK Cure is also formalin plus malachite green (not sure of the percent formalin). Seachem's Paraguard is supposed to be a safer substitute for formalin as well. You can find some good black ich info here: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1996184
  13. I have an avast and it's working great for me.

  15. It's a good place to go to learn how to id fish diseases
  16. I was in the Fairfax one a few months ago and they didn't have saltwater fish. I've been to the Tysons, Baileys, and Alexandria ones in the last few weeks and here is how I would rate them: 1. Baileys - Tanks look clean, fish looked ok, though one of the tanks was really overstocked with pj cardinals 2. Alexandria 3. Tysons - by far the worst. Tanks are filled with ich-covered fish all the time, then empty (due to the fish dying), then filled again, over and over. This is a shining example of all the bad things you hear about Petco. The LFS in our area are all much better.
  17. Not sure if this is the same store, but there is one in Tysons in the Staples shopping center: http://www.rangersurplus.com/ This post got me scared. I was using a dog food container, which cracked when I tried to drill a hole in the side for a float valve. I am now using a tall slim 11 gallon trash can but am worried about its longevity, so I am contacting Artfully Acrylics to get a custom acrylic reservoir made.
  18. Not trying to be the tang police, but a blue hippo tang in a 90 gallon? Reefescape recommended that?
  19. Check with Quantum Reefs. Their website says they don't have any in stock, but call them as they may have some in stock but just haven't updated inventory on their website yet. Blue Ribbon Koi may also have some.
