After it settles and your ATO reservoir is pumped empty you just rinse out the remaining settled kalk and put in new with water right? The settling makes me nervous as well. What if some of that stuff gets in the tank every time will it start to accumulate in the tank after years?

We need to go save all the clams from safeway. when these clams die do they at least surface from sand and open up to give you warning that they are about to send ammonia and nitrate storms as they decompose? that way if I get a free one I can just keep an eye on it. But if they die under the sand bed undetected that can mean trouble.

+1 my macro algae barely put a dent in my nitrates but every bit counts plus Its one more cool organism to have in a system.

I have a 6 line wrasse. He hunts non stop swirling around the rocks. Never seen him find or eat anything but Im sure hes getting em. What is your way of putting them out of their misery?

LMBO. Well I grew up drinking a lot of unfiltered TDS maybe that's why I'm so crazy and waste big dollars on the tank like a dummy. I heard the RO water will test with a higher TDS after sitting a bit but we all let it sit anyhow. Reef crystals instant ocean salt water says it neutralizes metals since everyone freaks out about them. That always gives me a warm comforting feeling in my belly especially if I decide to run up the TDS

My TDS is at 1 now. Time to change out filters or do y'all let it get a little higher? Which filters do I change?

I would buy a 10g tank and remove the fish to it temporarily so you have no bio load. Cut lighting time a few hours or just turn it off and do massive water changes. Cyano has a hard time growing where there is sufficient flow so try that also. Sorry Im new so someone please correct me if these are bad ideas.

I have noticed that fish stores also use advanced lighting to make the colors pop. Then i get it under my own lighting and its not quite as nice. Here is the same palys under more blue lights.
