  1. So...... I bought a AquaticLife 115 Internal Mini Protein Skimmer from Marine Depot because it was on sale a few weeks ago and it has already bit the dust. My issue here is that in an effort to save space, my sump is only 6" front to back. I need ideas on how to skim this thing. Should I go external? Or is there a super small footprint skimmer that people would recommend?
  2. I can't comment on the Photon48, as I only have an IT2060 and a d120.
  3. Correct, the reefbreeder lights are rebranded from evergrow. The biggest reason to look at the evergrows over the 150's is the ability to control the intensity of both your blue and white channels. Marco (monkiboy) is constantly setting up new buying opportunities, so if you're not in a rush, I'm sure you'd get another chance to buy them.
  4. I used to have two a150's on my 56g column (30"x18"x24") and I would suggest three for a tank that size. With that said, have you looked into the Evergrow d120's? Or better yet, the IT Series?
  5. That hammer pack is so sick. There's gotta be someone with a big tank out there that needs a "starter kit". *cough* *cough* monkiboy *cough*........
  6. Yeah, I'm not sure where those two negative reviews came from. This is my "go to" place for fish. If they don't have what I'm looking for, then I try A1. Wouldn't touch Congressional anymore with a 10 foot pole.
  7. So what would the advantage of long pulse be over continuous?
  8. I'm curious as to what mode everyone uses for their vortech's. I've always just run the continuous green mode but I've been thinking about trying something different.
  9. I mean, that amount of snails would probably be ok, but overkill in my opinion. In my 56g I probably have 5 Mexican Turbos, 25 Nassarius, and another 10-15 assorted smaller snails. With that said, I also have a couple emerald crabs, 10 or so assorted hermits, a peppermint shrimp, and a few gobies that help with the sand bed sifting.
  10. The Nassarius snails (the ones that are under the sand during the day) wont really eat algae off rocks, etc. They do a great job flipping the sand bed though. I would recommend a like 3-4 Turbo's instead of just one. Then you can supplement with some assorted snails, maybe a few nerite and a few cerith.
  11. Oh man, what an idea! I have a few dozen left over from the weekend....... Now if I can just figure out how to bring them back to life.
  12. Richard at ERC still has Nassarius snails.... I'd grab a 10 pack from him.
  13. Just heard Paul had a severe knee injury. They're looking for part time/full time help......
  14. I just saw the reviews above and while I agree the place is a dump, and the service sucks, I have to disagree about fish prices. I'm sure their dry goods are horribly over priced, but I'd never buy dry goods from a LFS as BRS and Marine Depot are typically way cheaper then anyone. And yes, nothing is labeled correctly but that's not a big deal to me as the fish are pretty easy to figure out. With that said, if someone finds someone in MoCo selling fish for a cheaper price, I'll buy you one! Edit: When I say "someone", I mean a LFS
  15. Just be careful with any sort of coral specific food. Many people think "Well, if my corals like it that much, they'll like a double dose even more!". This will cause some serious problems if you overfeed too much. I feed my corals separate from the fish only once a week and they're plenty happy.
  16. The sponge can absolutely %$#* off the hammer. I had a sponge recently that was suffocating my devils soul favia. Once I removed it, the favia came back quickly.
  17. Everything should always start on the sand bed and be moved up slowly over time until they seem happiest.
  18. Just FYI, polls don't worry from tapatalk so this can only be done on your PC or laptop.
  19. Dude, you're going to hit 1000 posts before your tank is done cycling
  20. I agree with Tom, I wish I hadn't bought a bunch of crap at full retail that I would eventually replace. Also, I would have drilled my tank before filling (ugh). Patience would be on the list as well. Also, I would have gone bigger.
  21. Regardless of their scientific name, I have a bunch of these in my tank right now that have been there for quite a long time. Maybe these are that one species of Nassarius that are black?
