  1. Look man, you don't need to "crawl back under a rock", you just need to ask yourself a few questions before you post. Those questions should be something similar to below: 1. Is what I'm about to write true? 2. Has this question or comment been posted before, with the answers/responses already laid out for me if I use the search function? 3. Is this question/comment relevant, and beneficial to WAMAS members? 4. By posting this, am I doing something that could in anyway interfere with people that really need the help of our members? If what you're about to write goes against any of the above, I'd suggest taking a deep breathe, and consider not posting it. Look, I wouldn't know 10% of what I know if I didn't have WAMAS. And because of that, I attempt to be as much help as I possibly can be. But with that said, when I was first starting out I found that I learned much easier if I kept quiet and listened. Also, I'm not saying questions or bad, or that you shouldn't post questions. I just think you'd get more help if you toned it down a bit and were a little more cautious prior to posting. Please feel free to PM me if you ever have something you need help with.
  2. Come on man, there's so much that's wrong with this post. Give it a rest...........
  3. Picture by yours truly Location: My living room Title: Open up and say Aahhhhh Camera: Canon Rebel Bleeding Apple Scoly purchased from Exotic Reef Creations
  4. Ok, so the frag tank is sitting at 98 zoa frags currently with about 85 different varieties now The majority of them are high end, collector Z's and P's. Still working on getting good pictures of it, but I'll throw up a few crappy ones. I'm going to get my hands on a look down box for my camera, then I should be able to snap some good ones. However, I did snap some good pics of my two scolys. The Bleeding Apple was eating at the time of his photo shoot............ so rude! And while it's not fully expanded, the Skeleton you see is actually an old dead scoly that this one grew on....
  5. I have used a couple, and have discontinued the use of one because of Nitrate issues, but still use the other with success (I think). The first product I was using was Brightwells Macrovore (Different than their Microvore that Djplus1 mentioned). I immediately spiked my Nitrates, and discontinued use after about a month. My nitrates started dropping right after I stopped using it. Who knows, maybe I was adding it wrong, but I was using a small dose than the bottle suggested. The second product, which I am still using is Kent Marine's Zoomax. The reason I like this product is that the recommended dose is so low. The instructions call for 1 drop (from enclosed droplet) for every 10 gallons. I find it hard to believe that adding a product like this in such small amounts should have the ability to change water parameters much at all. All my LPS and Zoas are happy and growing well.
  6. No, that was Showcase Aquarium in Wheaton. They shut down a month or two ago.
  7. I happen to know you have a decent chunk of change that you received today for some gorgeous z's/p's Time for another scoly I guess!
  8. Which one? The one with the two difference shades of blue? Or maybe that's light blue/purple?
  9. Did some aquascape changing in the display tonight, will get pics up soon. I didn't know how I'd feel afterwards but now that it's done, I FRICKIN LOVE IT. I realized that I had a bunch of wasted space in the back center of my tank, so I moved some stuff back and now the entire tank opened up big time. Now I can fit more coral!!! Also, the frag tank is filling up quick. Pics coming soon..........
  10. Actually, Frag Junky didn't buy it from a wholesaler. The swap we were at was the New Jersey Reefers Club swap in June, and they had allowed vendors to set up the night before if they desired. Evidently the chick from Frag Junky was walking around looking at other vendors set ups on Friday night and she saw that fungia in the frag tank of Ultra Corals and Fish out of Pennsylvania, and asked if she could buy it. For some dumb reason, the guy agreed to sell it for $240. Throughout the show, vendors and hobbyists were talking about it non-stop and many rumors were going around regarding how much FJ spent on it. Most rumors had them paying between $500-$800, which I would have easily believed. I ran into the guy from Ultra outside and we started discussing the fungia. He wouldn't give me an exact purchase price but he told me it was less than $300. After the show the lady that purchased the coral stopped by our booth to chat. That's when she told us she only paid $240, and that's also when I offered the $800. Unfortunately, she knew how special that piece was and realized that she could get far more than $800 for it.
  11. Also, if you look through the other pics on ebay, you can see the side view pictures are a more accurate coloration.
  12. You are correct. They paid $240 for it. I offered the chick from Frag Junky $800 cash on the spot, less than an hour after she purchased it for $240 and she wouldn't do it.
  13. Oh, and by the way, while this plate is no doubt the nicest fungia I've ever seen, that picture is heavily over-saturated, and is not a true depiction of the real coloration.
  14. I saw this plate in person when Richard and I were at a frag swap in NJ and it is AMAZING. Anyone want to guess what Frag Junky paid for this thing at the swap?
  15. I'll tell you what, Richard worked his butt off on this thing. Unfortunately I was unable to help him with any of it, which left him with hours upon hours upon hours of work. I went through the entire thread later that night and the prices you guys were scoring corals for was RIDICULOUS! Others will try to duplicate, but nobody will compete with the quality and pricing, that's for sure.
  16. Hey everyone, I just picked up an Evergrow IT2060 a couple group buys ago and have just now almost finished ramping up my lights to their final intensity. I think I've also gotten pretty close to deciding on my custom schedule. Below is my current settings (first channel listed is my blues, second is my whites): 07:00: 2 0 07:30: 4 0 08:00: 6 0 08:30: 8 0 09:00: 10 0 09:30: 20 0 10:00: 30 0 10:30: 40 0 11:00: 50 3 11:30: 55 6 12:00: 60 9 12:30: 60 12 13:00: 65 15 13:30: 65 18 14:00: 70 21 14:30: 70 24 15:00: 75 27 15:30: 75 30 16:00: 80 35 16:30: 80 40 17:00: 75 40 17:30: 70 35 18:00: 65 30 18:30: 60 25 19:00: 55 20 19:30: 50 15 20:00: 45 10 20:30: 40 5 21:00: 35 4 21:30: 30 3 22:00: 25 2 22:30: 20 1 23:00: 15 0 23:30: 10 0 Thoughts? I'm interested in hearing what other people do with their programmables......
  17. Haven't quite decided. I keep going back and forth, but right now I'm planning on hanging from the ceiling. Only problem is, I have 9 foot ceilings and the top of the tank is only 4ft off the ground.
  18. So I've been busy with work so I haven't done much except for getting new corals. I finally got the frag tank completely set up, with the exception of needing to hang my d120. Finally found a good skimmer for the frag tank, and added a reactor that I'm running carbon and gfo in. Also added a cool Lawnmower Blenny that has a distinct red line down it's back to the frag tank. Below are a few pics:
  19. I was discussing the corals available and their pricing today with Richard and I'll tell you what, this is going to be OUT OF CONTROL. Pricing on some corals may be even LOWER than some vendors pay from their wholesalers. If anyone buys corals between now and Saturday's live sale, I promise you're overpaying! With that said, I highly suggest stopping by ERC over the next few days to see the goods in person. Also, since purchases are first come first serve, you may find something before the Live Sale that you decide you don't want to risk not getting your hands on. Did you guys notice that mouth on the scoly above? That thing is super sexy
  20. Water change water came in at an 11. Doesn't make any sense.
  21. I did..... It changes immediately so I'm getting it's between 0 and 1.
  22. Yeah, I'm going to try something different but I got the same results with my API kit. I know the API kits suck but the fact that they're both giving the same result has to count for something. I don't plan on keeping anything other than LPS and Zoas in this frag tank some I'm not really worried about the high Nitrates. Not a thing. I'm in between RODI units right now but have been buying RODI from Safeway in 1 Gallon jugs for top offs and water changes. A couple months and I have been doing it just like they say, and it definitely wasn't changing in the first .4 I'm just kind of boggled.
