  1. This. I always keep a few in my tank, get 3-5 and you should see your aptasia disappear.
  2. I believe him, and have spoken to other reefers who say they don't do any water changes. I think that with algae harvest (in the correct amount) and supplements to make up for sequestered nutrients, you can do this for sure. I also agree with the above, over time things tend to stabilize (husbandry, parameters, etc... ) and success becomes easier.
  3. I had a frag for a few months (lost it in my move). I agree with Scott about the light and flow. Mine grew very slowly, I would say it was the slowest grower in my tank.
  4. I would go with the DC pump. They are somewhat more expensive, but are well worth it!
  5. I like my leds, but the halides offer better coverage. I also think that some corals grew better under my halides than under my LEDs, but there are a number of factors that could be involved there.
  6. That is too bad. What makes me sick isn't the fishermen, but the people who pay for the products that are made from the endangered clams. That is the real driving force in their harvest.
  7. Funniest thing I have read in awhile. Thanks Paul!
  8. One more question to ask, are you OK with drilling through the floor/wall for the plumbing used with these tanks? I would, as others have suggested, go with two pumps. One dedicated to the 125, and the other running into nano#1 which gravity feeds nano#2 (if this is possible), which in turn will send its water down to the sump. If you split the return line between the two nanos you will loose even more head pressure.
  9. If you can find these I will buy them: Ant Insignis: Some of those may look familiar ):
  10. I would like to be on the list for when you get more of A, and F in stock Thanks!
  11. ***Edit*** Removed post because link was to a thread also selling these corals. Bad form of me to post another person's sale thread in a vendor section, sorry about that!
  12. Fish tank of his own?
  13. Of course you are right. I got caught up in all the stuff we "need" for a tank and overlooked the real issue here. If it will bankrupt the family, obviously don't do it
  14. People, its just a 90 not a 300. He has the sump (his 20g). He can pick up lights on the cheap (they may even come with the used tank he buys), and the skimmer wont break the bank either if he shops around. As for all the other additions, they can come in time. No need to go buying reactors and zeowhatever. KISS: tank/stand, lighting (used MH anyone?), skimmer... done. I put this at around 300$ if he knows where to find a deal (WAMAS). Add in one box of RC salt and you are at $354. I don't think that is too much to spend on your happiness
  15. Cats and kids, both can be entertained for hours by a fish tank..... Wait, which does that make me? Looking forward to this build, 90g is a good tank size.
  16. Humm, sounds like a job for the crew at Avast
  17. Holy *&#@ !! Looks very cool, but also probably annoying (I would guess their proliferation limited your other coral stocking)
  18. How established is the tank? I noticed that I stopped getting cyno completely when my system matured.
  19. +1 to two part. If your tank isn't evaporating enough water to make kalk a feasible option, this will be the easiest way to go. Look at Bulk Reef supply, their two part is really reasonable, and they have easy to use calculators based off their products. I have been happily using their brand since I had to stop using kalk due to the exact issue you are facing. When I switched to LEDs my tank stopped evaping enough water to use kalk.
  20. Glad to know this, thanks!
  21. I like my power heads like this: Both have the magnets on the side glass PH #1 on the lower right sending flow across the bottom back glass PH #2 on the upper left sending flow across the upper front glass. This creates a gyre around the rock "island" which runs down the center of the tank. In this way, you maximize your pump's capacity to move water. Keep in mind, I have my WP-40s on wave mode, so the gyre has some randomness to it, and the corals are not constantly being exposed to unidirectional flow. I also like Issac's MP-40 on the back wall. It adds a lot of movement to his corals.
