  1. I'm actually getting a few hours to work on my tank.... I... Um.... Haven't really worked on the tank in a few months... So a good algae pull, and a water change in the morning,,, And maybe figuring out how to clean my overflow pipes....
  2. Loni.... Loni where are you??.........
  3. Lol so cute!
  4. Yay! I'm so glad to see this! Now we will just need a picture to see what this tank looks like in a few months after everything has settled
  5. I looks great Jan!
  6. If I can build it, anyone can! (Just remember if you are doing the recirc mode you will need 2 pumps, lol)
  7. I've never had an internal inspection, though when we moved out here and got renters insurance we literally had to make a list of everything we owned... Everything... Not just collectibles and electronics...
  8. As long as you input the correct address the vendor should take whatever action appropriate to take care of you. They will need to deal with the delivery service.
  9. I had always used tap water till I moved here. Out in Washington state, the water comes from underground aquifers and is not treated with any chemicals unless a high level of choloform (sp?) bacteria is found... Here with all the chloramines s such I run a full rodi....
  10. I got some eggcrate up... And it was the small little controller...the fan stopped so it was overheating because the heat sink was not big enoug to dissipate... The new controller aphas no fan and a much larger heat sink...
  11. Wow...so much has happened! Lots of jumpers (3!) and a few deaths :( Been working full time and taking classes...so my tank has seen better days... A little bit of hair algae has erupted on on side of my tank and trying to figure out my flow after I had to replace my pump because of a bad controller (thanks Vince for getting it taken care of for me!) and needing to pull off my overflow pipes and clean since they seem to be a bit off... Pictures maybe in a month! Lol so not taking pictures of it right now :(
  12. Very cute!
  13. I've got mine 16 inches off the water... Gets good spread that way...
  14. Looking good! That is a very pretty skimmer
  15. I'm assuming you've reaimed the powerheads to not repeat that? And then to add sand I have always used a cup, fill it with sand and then slowly dip in the tank to get some water in the cup...with your hand over the top take it down to the bottom and pour it where you want it...it causes less clouding that way when I've done it compared to me being lazy and pouring in sand from the bag at the top of the tank, lol
  16. I have a floaty thermometer with mercury that I go off of... I mean at 1.5 degrees of possible difference, I'm not going to freeze or fry anything, lol
  17. I like it! Though I prefer more height...but that's just a personal preference...
  18. I like the idea of it, moving more water with less stuff messing up my view..but I'm also going to have to wait till its been out a year or two...kinks all worked out...and price a little more reasonable....
  19. Rob, this time I think you're on point....any water moving device that may have stagnant areas will accumulate detritus...and of course adding something that had a completely different flow will do just what we saw... But the thinking behind the gyre is it covers more area... So less stagnant/accumulation of detritus... So...rob was right,,,,,for once,,,,, There, I said it!
  20. i would do the plywood...just to even out the flex points..if it only enough a piece of paper will fit in the not a shim i think youd be fine doing that....
  21. Wow, I can definently see your love and skill manifesting from then to now! Very awesome work!
