  1. Yeah, it came out clean. The broken side that I didn't take a picture of it one solid piece. If you're familiar with how this is built, the acrylic that broke out is still solidly glued to the PVC as well.
  2. While doing some maintenance yesterday, I managed to drop my kalk stirrer and the little thru-spigot fell right on my sink and broke right off. I'm thinking I should be able to just use some solvent to weld the broken piece right back into it's spot and should be good to go. Sound / look like a reasonable plan?
  3. Thanks Kim. I think getting rid of the frag bombs on the sand bed helped too. Makes me feel better about it anyway
  4. What a difference a couple weeks can make. Did a bunch of maintenance today - water change, skimmer cleaning, kalk stirrer recharging. Unfortunately while clearning my kalk stirer I dropped it and the port that drains the kalk into the tank broke off. I think it'll be easily fixable - just need to get some acrylic solvent. Added a sock to my overflow this morning. Going to give collecting detritus a go. Tried to get a shot of some corals. This is the only one that came out half way decent. I had turned all the blue LEDs off for these shots. Managed to get just one of a fish too. And last but not least, a new full tank shot, without quite so much red on the sand. It's still there in some spots, but much lighter than it was two weeks ago and hopefully on its way out.
  5. I just leave mine on. I use the OSC command in my setup so the most it'll run is 3 or 4 minutes at a time. And unless I dump water all over the floor like I did today, it's usually a pretty quick process
  6. Try the blue-reef chromis. They seem to fair much better. I think they look much nicer too even if they are a lot more expensive. Or maybe not so much more expensive since they don't seem to highlander each other all the time! LOL
  7. I want to say I rememeber overklok saying he was doing this too. Maybe shoot him a pm.
  8. I can't wait to claim my prize!
  9. I kept a kole tang in my 93 cube when I had it. I think the smaller bristle tooth tangs would be fine. But I also think just one of them would be the way to go.
  10. Opps, that'd be my fault. Yes, sorry indeed Richard! I think that obligate me to play a little harder on sale day now lol
  11. Oh lord. I retract my question entirely! My wife wants to go there SO BAD! Maybe in another year or two!
  12. Where's the buzz light year ride? My son would love that Baring going to buzz ride, I think I'll be stalking here too - especially since I missed last time.
  13. I've run it in the past, but just haven't gotten around to reinstalling it in my current setup - I even created a port off of my manifold just to feed my BRS Dual GFO/Carbon reactor. I did have a pretty significant break out of cyano, but I think that was due mostly to the fact that my skimmer was out of commission for a couple weeks while it got dialed in when it's feed was transferred to the manifold. In general, I agree with much of what's been said, it's a tool to be used on an as-needed basis.
  14. LOL Mine didn't give me that view, but I saw it in the back of the tank doing a headstand just like that just last night. Silly critter!
  15. That sump looks really nice. I'm jealous! Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  16. I'm still happy with mine. A couple purchased this past spring/summer and several purchase a year or two ago all still going strong.
  17. Opps I have mine running my manifold so that's why barely enough - lots of feeds tapping off of it. Kim - I've seen people recomend using neoprene weather striping on the edges of a piece of glass and wedging it into place to create a baffle. I don't know how well it works though.
  18. HAHA no, I wish it had a little more flow to it. It'll do, but just barely
  19. I installed my DC12000 today - replaced a DC10000. My sump ran about 3-5 inches lower with the new pump!
  20. Nice shots.
  21. Looks really nice - This one should be fun to watch grow out.
  22. Thanks! I was tempted to get the larger one too but ended up liking the coloring better on this just slightly better it was great talking to you! Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  23. Great looking additions. It would gave been a battle for that elegance if I didnt have to leave! It was good meeting you on Saturday - keep us updated on these new additions! Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  24. Uhg! So much to fix in here! LOL
  25. I haven't done a full tank shot in a while. If I did, what you'd see is a nice coating of red all over the sandbed Went I hooked the skimmer feed up to the manifold, I reduced skimming dramatically for several weeks while I got things dialed in. It was shortly after that, that the red stuff came kreeping in. I think between that and overfeeding way too much for the fish I have was just a disaster waiting to happen. Add in skipping a water change here and there and skipping recharding the kalk reactor and things have just been kind of stagnant. All in all, the tank doesn't look too bad - just haven't had great growth lately. But things have started to get back into shape lately so that's a good thing I did add a long tentacle plate from Quantum Reefs today. It looked really nice in their tanks - when I got it in my tank the tentacles were out and swaying in minutes! Here's two shots of it from my cell phone camera. The first one with flash, the second one without. Somewhere between these two shots is what the coral really looks like!
