Can you pm pricing on the radions and what model they are? Thanks! Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  2. Rob is right. I have my dual durso setup running almost silently. The right flow and bubble trap make it work pretty well. However, nn my new build, I'm using a Synergy Reef Overflow. He's the designer and fabricator of the original ghost overflow. I picked up his new 20" model at MACNA. It's not running yet, still a few weeks before that can happen, but I have the overflow placed on the tank and I'm sure I'll be very happy with it. I especially love the removable weir. Not that it'll get removed a lot, but when it comes time to clean, it'll be much easier I think. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  3. I looked at their website, they are metal screws. It said titanium level 2. I guess that's better than level 1. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  4. LOL Eric. I consider it an "upgrade." But I'm technically downsizing by about 60 gallons or so
  5. Thanks all. And you're very welcome Doug! I think the tank looks great. The seams look good - I think I may need to wait a couple weeks before I fill it since I only ordered the tank at MACNA and it's here already. They even added some extra pieces of glass beneath the eruobrace, on the short sides, to enable me to add a screen on top, at my request. I managed to get my car into the back yard to make offloading the tank a little easier. It was actually a lot easier than using my trailer to transport the tank from the front to the back. Ready to offload. I had my Dad, Aunt, Uncle and Cousin over to help out. Almost home. Now the real work begins. On another weekend!
  6. It's very red. Wife loves it so all is good Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  7. Picked up the tank and stand this morning and started on finishing the stand. Still need to put a urethane coating over the stain.
  8. Scott, just wanted to say that I thought that was a great description of those two commands. Thanks for posting it. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  9. Absolutely. I've heard their tanks have gotten much better in recent years, so I'm going to give them a shot. Tank will be picked up in two weeks. I won't get it filled until several weeks after that though. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  10. Coming soon.... taking down my 200 gallon deep dimension and putting in a custom sized tank and stand from Glass Cages with a Synergy Reef Overflow. I'll more than likely make a few other changes to my current system as I build this. Planning on putting as much of my current live rock and fish as I can into the frag tank and sump. I have very few corals currently so shouldn't have many problems there. Anyway, that's it for now. Bought the tank, stand and overflow at MACNA and am excited about getting it going. 11. It can certainly be a long term process to remove that stuff. I think you just need to keep manually removing as much as you can, doing water changes and add whatever you can that might eat it. A rabbit fish did wonders for me in my system.
  12. Looking good! I'll have to add one of those to my tank again someday.
  13. I've done some searching on this too - Emailed with Reef Saavy a couple of weeks ago and they said they're still a couple months away from release. The good news is that if you need something quicker than that, the other guys are right - there's some good looking units on ebay listed. This is one of them... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1800-gph-LOW-PROFILE-Overflow-Box-Bulkhead-Mounted-aquarium-surface-skimmer-/191281654428?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c89466a9c (I have no relationship with the seller, etc.)
  14. John is definitely one of the good ones. Sorry to hear of the almost disaster!
  15. Great idea Marc!! Don't know why I didn't think of something so simple to begin with. I just like to scrub these things for some reason. Probably yet another case of me making mountains out of molehills Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  16. Had some of the red nasty a year or so ago. I increased my waterflow a good amount and that got rid of it all rather quickly. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  17. Maybe a vinegar bath every so often would do the trick ok. I've just always had containers small enough that my short arms could reach everything. I certainly wouldn't be able to reach the bottom of a 40 inch + tall tank! Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
  18. I was thinking about getting a new water storage tank with the current group-buy that's being discussed. But I started thinking, always a dangerous thing with me, how would I be able to clean it? My current salt water storage tank is just a 20-ish gallon rubbermade storage tote - and I notice that there's oftentimes some residue left behind after making a batch of saltwater that I end up scrubbing out of the tote. My freshwater storage container also has some slime that coats the container after a while that I also scrub out from time to time. The group buy tanks have just a 9" opening and the 75 gallon tank I'm thinking about getting is far deeper than my short arm will reach. So my question to the collective is, if you have one of these types of tanks, do you clean them? And if so, how?
  19. I'd recommend the orchid dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani). I have a pair of them in my system and they spend a lot of time in the rocks and swimming out in the open. The first couple weeks they were in the rocks almost exclusively, but over the last couple months, they spend just as much time out in the open as well. Of course they're my favorite fish
  20. Looks like a nice tank. What are the dimensions and who made it?
  21. I feed reef frenzy in my system and my fish do go nuts for it. There are more small pieces than other frozen foods I've used and I haven't noticed even my small mouth fishes have any issues with it. I do feed frozen almost daily - always have. My Dad doesn't feed frozen as often and his fish didn't go for the new frozen food quite so wild at first. I think fish get accustomed to a certain type of food so that could be part of the problem you experienced. Or maybe my fish are just pigs because they seem to go nuts for just about anything I put in the tank. Heck, even the meat eaters seem to get excited when I put nori in the tank! haha
  22. Sorry to see this happen to you Haywood. I feel your pain!
