  1. Stopped by Supreme Reefs today. Always nice to see Ben. Shop is coming along nicely. He has some amazing coral. His t-shirts look just as amazing. Glad to have a new vendor close by.
  2. I see most skimmers these days using air intake regulators. I have a Reef Octopus that is a two years ago and it does not have one. The problem I am having is that my skimmer one day will produce very thick skimmate, and take several days to fill up the collection cup. Then some days the cup fills up in a day. Not sure if an air intake regulator would help me better adjust my skimmer. Then can you purchase these separately? I can't find them when searching..
  3. Is it beneficial to ad water from an establishe tank to a cycling tank? The tank is about half way through the cycle. Nitrites are still coming down I figured adding some of my water to the cycling tank would boost the good bacteria.
  4. How are people attaching pictures now without photobucket?
  5. Thanks for all the input. It was a fan causing the trips.
  6. Lights off 3amps. Lights on 4.5 amps. Heater on 7amps. But the GFI is tripping hours after the lights have been on and temp would be higher then that which requires the heater to be on. In fact I will look at the fans because the fans are set to come on at 79 degrees.
  7. Do you have an auto top off? You Didn't mention it but that could be an issue as well.
  8. My GFI keeps tripping. My Apex shows that the highest the amps get is 8amps and that is at night when the heater comes on. My GFI outlet is rated at 15amps. It keeps tripping when I am not at home and cant tell when it trips. I do know it is not tripping when the lights come on, because my wife is home at that time. Things are not getting wet, Plugs are plugged in tight. not sure what it could be. Any suggestions?
  9. Sorry if this a spoiler but I found it mind blowing find that 29% of the GBR died in 2016,
  10. I think I will go this route but have several questions Where do I get the muriatic acid? Will the rock have to recycle, or cause a ammonia spike? How much do I use? How long do I leave the rock in the acid? Thanks
  11. Yes, I remember when this happened to SteveOutlaw.
  12. Here is what they look like. I think you guys are right. They are probably pallys and not zoas.
  13. I have been very busy and unable to take a pic. I will do so as soon as I can Bad thing is It is almost on all rocks as well as rocks with anemones, acro, and acans, so pulling the rock may not be an option. But I am so fed up with them I am willing to start over. I will get a pic soon.
  14. I have some green/brownish zoanthids that are taking over my tank. They are growwing on my acans, acros and prized corals. I think the got in as a hitchhiker. I tried smothering them with kalk and killed all that I could see, but they came back. I don't see any way off getting rid of them. Any suggestions?
  15. I am still looking for someone who could be on stand by.
  16. I will be taking vacation from 6/10-6/22. My Son and neighbor will be looking after the tank, but if something comes up that they cant handle, I am looking for someone or multiple people who can be on standby. I live in Springfield so being close would be a plus.
  17. Thanks Jon. That seems like what is happening. If i can get it turning by sticking a coat hanger into the pump, it is fine until power is cut off. As long as their are no problems I am fine. But imagine trying to explain to my neighbor on how to get the pump going again.
  18. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I cant wait as I need to get a new pump before I go out of country for vacation. My Mag Drive 9 doesn't always restart after power loss. Cant put that burden on my neighbor.
  19. Anyone use the Waveline DC pumps? I was looking to get a new pump and wanted one that was direct current, but I see they get a lot of negative feed back.
  20. Thanks for your service. I am in Springfield. I will PM you my cell number should this ever happen again and you need someone to check it. It is a great idea to have as many people as possible on stand by. I almost had a similar situation while on vacation.
