I have done this many times over the years. Really easy to do. Just put in a siphon break on the drain and not much will drain into your sump.

I love running my lights on all blue. So if you change the percentage to say 75% all blue then add a few percentage for white till it’s to your liking.

I haven’t done the two part. However I reached out to Randy Holmes Farley, the guru on R2R about the nitrate and phosphate dosing using food grade. Way way way cheaper than the neo nitrate and neo phos. There is a lot of info on the R2R pages about the 2 part stuff as well. I personally use all 4 reef right now.

If you can get a small generator that would power both. Not sure if you have a place to run it safely. Additionally you could get a $200 back up UPS that would cover the small tank no problem. Main thing I would worry about is heat and flow. They don’t need lights.

Any idea what might eat these. I have a tanks that’s covered in them. I would like to get them outta the tank. I can sell the loose rocks but they are all over the main structures. Wondering if there is a natural predator of them
