  1. You will spend more in gas than the actual product. Your better off going to walmart it is closer and will cost you the same.
  2. Was Miss P one of the Mermaids?
  3. I had a GSP covered rock. I thought it would stay in place on the rock if I placed the rock in the sand, but it just started to spread over the sand and build colonies into the sand. As for touching the Zoa's it was close but they never battled for territory.
  4. I dive right in the tank. I DO NOT wash my hands prior since you never can get all the soap off your hands and I have had in the past problems with freshly washed hands in a tank. But I do keep a towel near by and dry my hands then flush them with fresh water to knock off the salt or anything that might have landed on my skin.
  5. I know what you mean. There have been times I selected for the system to notify me of new posting on certain forums and it won't until like ten people have posted on the forum.
  6. Can you post a photo of what are your talking about? I recall you were at my house last week. Did you see how I placed a peice of acrylic on my over flow. So far I have had only one fish fall into the over flow box area.
  7. I recently aquaired a pair. They have a den built by a pistol shrimp. How would you know there spawning?
  8. I've had an aircraft part that cost that much get lost going into Canada because some bone-head on the U.S side forgot to get the package signed by the broker.
  9. Im thinking because the egg crate is white the light is reflecting a bit higher than the rocks in the tank or any other surface partly because the other surfaces are absorbing the light and not reflecting it back. I noticed the same issue when I started my 20g frag tank I only had algae growth on the racks and no were else. I agree once the coraline starts to creep it was over the egg crate thus removing the white reflective surface yoru aglae problems will go away.
  10. Nice rock work. I would introduce a tang of some sort of tang to keep the hair algae to a minimum. And about 50 hermit crabs.
  11. I was thinking the same thing. But I guess if I were to leave it out in the room it would need to be constantly bubbled to keep the cells from crushing each other. But for no I have it in the fridge and give a good shake once a day or so.
  12. I know a WHOLE wall in your shop you can use.
  13. Yeah you def need to check the water parameters and run a cleaning pad across that tank. Something is not right.
  14. I thought about that possibly happening. So I made some extra 1/2in pvc caves and I will place them in the tank. once I see eggs I will transfer them to the breeding net. I will try to keep things simple since this is my first time and all the books and articles I have read can only help out so much. I'm going to start the Rotifer culture in about two weeks. I just started a new batch of phyto and it wil be mature in the next week. Im currently using the fist half of the batch to feed the corals in the tank at night. Do you know if phyto should be kept in the fridge or should I leave it out of the fridge near the tank and shake it once a day?
  15. As from me. I noticed the four single neons have now become two pairs. Im almost tempted to ****** a pair at night then place them in the breeder bu then I kinda want to see what there planning to do in regards to breeding.
  16. The solid blue stripe. I nocited two of them are hooked up this morning stayn close. But then that is probably cause there still new to the tank after escaping the breeding net. I plan and have budgeted to get more.
  17. A pair of Hemostats if you got them will work. The magnetic housing if going to have a strong hold so becareful in regards to pulling the loose magnet from the housing.
  18. Well got the neons today. There were only 4 at the store. I placed them in a fish breeder style container in the tank. To try and see which ones would pair up looked pretty good for a while there. But as I left to go help a buddy with his car, I noticed I was now at 3 neon gobies and not 4. I said oh well one escaped into the tank that was my plan for the ones that didnt pair up. But when I returned from helping my buddy two more became escape artist and swam out. I gave up and just placed the last one in the tank. After careful inspection I found all of them hanging out behind some rock work. Guess it will be back to BRK next week or when ever they get another shipment of them.
  19. No fish at this present time. I'm making sure all the equipment is good. I have a 10g tank and a 5g tank filled at a slinity of 1.021 with simple sponge filters. I introduced some of my main tank water in each tank as to keep them both close to the same. I have provisions for hatching brine shrimp eggs and storing brine shrimp somewhat long term, but I figure most of it will just get feed into the main display tank. I'm picking up my neon gobies this Sunday. Whatever pairs dont match up Im throwing into my main dispaly tank.
  20. Im currently growing phyto and will be ready in the next two days to start the next culture. Im making about two 2liters every two weeks. So if you need Rotifer food I can help in that way. Just give me ample notice before asking that way I can get the bottle prepaired. I will probably start the Rotifer culture this weekend. Chris
  21. Doug, So your not growing your own phyto? Do you use frozen phyto to keep the rotifers active and alive?
  22. Paul, That is some good work. I picked up a pair of watchmen gobies today and trew them in my main tank. Not looking for babies just a happy tank. Chris M
  23. Straight from the heart. That was a good read. I plan on moving to Florida in the next few years. My mother is getting one of my old tank setups and she plans to do what you described collect water straight from the source and I plan on doing the same.
  24. That is cool. I guess its those small signs we all miss that tells us if we do truely have a healthy tank. So how long did you let your phyto bubble or cure? I'm going on 9 days so far. It's a nice healthy green not dark but I can't see thru the bottle. Is that a good time to start splitting cultures? Or should I allow the culture two full weeks before I start splitting?
  25. I noticed great SPS growth with my dual 250w 14k MH's but I also noticed conistancy is the key in most cases. I also use a carbon reactor to help get clarity in the water column.
