  1. This is so cool! http://www.wimp.com/transparenteel/
  2. Yes why? I have had one on the tank but recently noticed the UV bulb was not coming on. Before buying a new bulb (assuming that is the problem), I would love to hear the Pro's and Cons. It would be informative...Thanks, Dave
  3. Previous advice all good...by all means add the moonlight's / LEDs. If you can't view the tank, what's the point of having it.
  4. Best price I have seen is here... http://www.soslightbulbs.com/phoenix-14k-250w-aquarium-lamp.aspx Free shipping over $150.00... I have used them twice to buy 4 bulbs each time. First time I got one bad bulb and they shipped me a replacement immediately....
  5. Wow Lynn!!! That Macro Algae is gorgeous. Do your fish eat it...is it in your main tank...and most importantly...Can I buy a frag from you! LMK, Happy Thanksgiving Dave
  6. Good customer service...really? Hmmm...I emailed them a couple of questions/concerns/problems several days ago and have not heard back. I have two first generation MP40's with the following problems. 1) Rubber mat that goes on the dry side is disintegrating on both. Holes have worn through. There new online parts store does not carry them. 2) One of the units has started to slip down the outside of my tank which eventually causes the whole unit to disengage. The wet side falls on my corals...the dry side rattles against the glass until I hear it and fix it. It just started doing this about a month ago...I have no idea why...it happens about once a week. 3) The other unit is noisy as heck. I have it oscillating between high and low flow and its "whir/whine" is very noticeable and annoying. The second unit...the one that falls once a week is completely quiet on the same setting...go figure. 4) Programming instructions are not very clear. Perhaps they fixed this on second generation units. Overall I like them...and want to stay with them. I just wish there customer service would contact me...
  7. I had the wrong ones....the Aquarium Filter Socks have seams. The FAQ says they are designed to use once....2 socks replaced twice a week gets expensive. hmmmm
  8. Thanks...the fact that these are seamless make them look promising. I will give them a try.
  9. I have had the same problem. From time to time outlets on the DC 8 appear to go bad. They start working again when I unplug the DC8 and plug it back in again. I have had to replace one DC8 in the last 5 years because outlets just stopped working...likely due to corrosion or something like that....it was in my sump room with high humidity and salt.
  10. I find that my socks help filter out micro bubbles and "polish" the water for me. They also catch larger pieces of debris and lots of teeny tiny serpent stars. Here is my problem. Does anyone know where I can find good quality socks? I bought some from Johnny at BRK about two years ago and they have held up. Everything else I have bought since then has failed. The stitching gives way after a few uses. Can someone point me to good quality socks....please.... Thanks!
  11. Thanks for the input. Considering these: http://www.hamiltontechnology.com/item/Aruba-Sun-2---High-Output-T5-and-LED-Retrofit-Kits-1943 What do you think?
  12. +1 for the Diamond Goby. My guy works all day every day from one end of my tank to the other. I have had mine for a couple of years now...
