  1. Yeah.............. one could only wish. I know things went super cheap. There were 300 gpd Ro units goind for $25. Lots of stuff went super cheap they had to sell it all and fast.
  2. Thanks Dave. Yeah it has been a minute. But I am back. On the Aquaculture side now. That's how I knew about Pristine but due to legal paperwork I cannot tell you whom the person that bought them out and shutdown the store.
  3. Yup, that's right. The shop in Alexandria has been bought out and closed.
  4. I had issues in the past with humidity. All thoughts are great dehumidifier in the summer and nothing in the winter. But I found during the springs and fall months were the outside air temperature is in the 70's, it's best to open a window or three and allow the air to flush the house removing that humidity. I at one point was running a 70 pint a day dehumidifier in the summer. But again I had a downstairs condo, very cool in the summer almost a basement type.
  5. I have had my sump running for 4years with out once cleaning it. The bacteria in the sump are critical for nutrient export from the main tank.
  6. Getting out for a short while.

  7. I recommend you go to a local fish store (BRK). Just scrape the old stuff out with a razor, leave the frame on the tank and make sure the tank is on a level surface. Apply a small bead in the gaps of the cleaned glass, then with a tongue depressor or you finger smooth out the bead. Smoothing out the bead will force the silicone in to the gaps, and please allow the silicone about 3days to dry. Fill the tank with water and make sure you have no leaks. It is a fairly easy job to do from start to finish.
  8. I think they are calcium based. Any mild acid will dissolve them away and besure to use a triple anitbiotic cream just in the event some bacteria didnt get washed away.
  9. I loose about 2 gallons a day in my 150. I also run a 50 pint a day de-humidifer. I had a lot of mold problems and when I went from a 75 to a 150.
  10. Comming along pretty good. Let me know when you want to start adding some corals. I need to do trimming in my tank. LOL
  11. Jan, double check and maxi jet pumps in your tank. I have also noticed if you have a ground probe in the tankif your outlet was not properly wired then you can also have some of the neutral side (the white wire) leak current into the tank. I had this issues to solve the problem I just unplugged the probe no more light shock. Now I would also check and pumps in the fug or slat creep near anything that requires electricity since this is a clear indicator that water is splashing and conducting back into the tank.
  12. Do you think the water might be too clean? With my careful observation of a similar situation. If there are no biologicals in the tank what are the corals going to eat? I had this same problem a few months back. I noticed lots of bleaching and die off. All my temps through out the day were fine I keep a constant temp of 74 in my tank. I did notice I stopped for a period of about 6months of feeding at night with cyclopeeze, I generally feed once a month but with school and work I was just to tired to feed at night and figured there were plenty of things the corals and zoas could munch on. About two months ago I started my monthly night feeeding routine and I have been noticing coral growth and overall polyp extensions on everything. I lost a lot of zoas (blues, bam bams, olivies..... ) In the end I realized I had too pure and clean water zero nitrates is not actually a good thing, your tank requires a low level of nitrates and nitrites and a dap of phosphates to let phytoplankton grow in order to feed the corals.
  13. With the electric being what it is I ended up calling the NOVEC power conservation folks and they said thos small maxijet pumps still draw in a lot of power because there running 24/7 365. But I wonder what kind of job do you guys have to pay powers bills like those. I darn near have a heart attack when the bill is more than $130.
  14. I was going to say the same thing. Just stop dosing and let things run naturaly.
  15. I average about $130 a month but before it was $55 a month as I got bigger tanks the bill was larger $75 for a 75 gallon with 2 x 250w MH. Now I currently run a 120 with the same lights and a few more pumps. The power actullay dropped until my mother stopped over for a few days and noticed a mold smell in the house. I went from a 100 month bill to the average $130 a month bill becasue of the dehumidifer. But my house is gas heated and just like Paul I went green were I could. I installed a Natural Gas tankless water heater for my condo. Works great and my average gas bill for the winter dropped from $135 a month to 65 a month. The unit as far as I know paid for its self in less than six months, plus I got a $96 rebate from the government on my taxes.
  16. I have some pipe in my water closet I will try to build a prototype. Im just curious on the height? Does it matter how long the pipe is in the over flow? Tom, You have seen my tank in the past, what do you think?
  17. So will you take the deed to my house for those Gem tangs.
  18. I saw the desing specs and I think I can make it my self at the house. I just need to make sure I get the correct bulkead for my tank. So are you currently running this type on your tank now?
  19. Is anybody using these type pipes? And if you are do they work as advertised? PM me if you are using them or planning to upgrade to these. Thank you www.nautilusreef.com/index.html
  20. I know if you reduce your feedings you will reduce the population of the worms. But they are good at keeping the sand moving to reduce nitrates.
  21. Very nice work. I see lots of creation soon to come with your SPS collection. Just becareful about placing Zoas in the tank. I had a nice Zoa garden growing for sometime then one day they all started to die off. I lots all my blues (50+ polyps), my purples (50+), olive oil (100+), dragons eyes(100+) and my Bambams (25+). They all just melted away. But the SPS is growing just fine.
  22. I like the product a lot and recommend it for anybody who has cyano problems.
  23. The ice cube trick is not the best. You can actually cause a freezer type burn to the foot. The best I found was to use a really flimsy type card or credit card to slowly pry the foot a little at a time. You have to be lots of patience or if the rock is small just pull it out of the water and let the weight of the tentacles pull the creature from the rock your tryn to remove it from, in any case good luck.
  24. I have a few dry vials, along with rbine and armenia that are all in dry long term storage type containers.
