  1. What are some of the items in the system that are cycling in terms of rock, sand, and or any live stock? Specifics of the live or dead rock is very important. Also need to know what was used to start the cycle? I'm pretty sure with those numbers you are fine to add a hardy fish or two a month in.
  2. I would wash it in fresh water, scrub it with a new food brush to remove as much debris as you can, and choose option 4.
  3. Use an exterior acrylic paint, or epoxy furniture paint. Poly is designed to go over stain, not paint. Also, black shows every imperfection so be sure to spray it to minimize brush strokes, or anything else.
  4. Not at all. However not how I would do it.
  5. I wouldn't worry about it too much. This will help to cycle the tank, but if you do not have any crabs or snails, this would be a good time to at least add a few hermits which will make quick work of the dead fish. GL
  6. I don't have mine in a canopy however they do have a quick release bracket which makes them very easy to remove and reset.
  7. I feel as though you are limiting yourself. I am un aware of any pendant that will give the proper spread with only two on a 65" tank especially at that depth. I see that you may add a third. I would plan on that from the beginning. :2cents: No idea what the spread on these are, but the Lumen Max Elites which I assume these are based on are the very best in the class. Lumen Max Pendants If you can still find the Blue Waves I would get those to match. I heard the other day Premium Aquatics still had some, and I just got two new ones a couple of weeks ago from Aquacave.
  8. The middle section needs some work [little more reinforcement] and the upper and lower section are a little on the overbuilt side. Unless you're just wanting to have the lower section [which may make it tough to put some sort of step stool there to work on the tank] I don't think that part is needed. I haven't looked at the Zero edge site in ages, but you may be able to get some ideas there as most of those set ups are pedestal stands. In any event, I would still base the majority of the load bearing weight on the center section and not on a base if you want that there.
  9. I've built several pedestal type stands for tanks in the past, and what you are looking for is very easy. I can also work up all the calculations structurally speaking for the stand and your home if needed. PM is key. Mark
  10. IMHO The Leopard Wrasse is a bad choice. They are extremely hard to keep. Even anthias can be a problem as most varieties need to eat more than once a day. Keep doing your homework.
  11. At 18" I think your fine with 150 watts. Lumen max's are rated to 30"
  12. No I do not top off with kalk. I have two 120 gallon reservoirs which one holds PH adjusted top off water, and the other one holds salt water. Right now I have been using the Bubble Magus doser to put Mag back in the tank but was reading up on the Neomag just a week or so ago. I read that this is used at a rate of 1 part Neomag and 10 parts CA media. Is that close to what your doing? I'm using the ARM right now, but only because that is what came with the reactor when I got it and wanted to give it a try. It's only been running a month or so, but I am getting good results, and my Alk which used to stay around 6 before is holding around 10.
  13. Thanks guys! Seems everyone is running the Gen X now a days.
  14. I'd pick up a bottle of MB7 by Brightwell Aquatics and follow the new tank set up instructions.
  15. Where do you have your high and low side PH set to, and what media do you use with that setting? TIA
  16. In the not too far distance that tank will be way too small for the hippo only. That size tank is not tang friendly.
  17. Kind of an older story at this point. Here is a link to Bob Fenner's response: http://www.coralmaga....hobby-diatribe I also have heard, but not seen the response of Kevin Kohen who had a few nice things to say.
  18. Other than maybe a goby or two I think you have plenty of fish for a tank that size.
  19. For the doors - http://nakedkitchenc....reachlocal.net By height if you mean the canopy I used a 1 X 12 to build Billy's canopy.
  20. I'd change the doors on the lower unit so you don't have to match, but that's me. T11 is an exterior siding, not stand doors.
  21. Not sure what you mean by match?
  22. Shipping was also reasonable. You can get a case of these at what four name brand bulbs cost.,
