  1. Did you follow the directions? It's been so long now that I can't remember the drill, but it seems like there was some setup out of the box before it would run. But maybe that was only because I got three of them, and had to set up the master/slave thing. It sounds like maybe your propeller is bound up for some reason. Sucks you had to go so far, and get one that didn't work! bob
  2. Gotta be a Tool-Time fan!! ARRrrrrrr!! bob
  3. We're waiting for you to Val-spar it! bob
  4. We can answer your question... but you have to answer some first. What controls the CO2? Do you have a pH probe in your CA reactor connected to an AC-III, and the solenoid on your CO2 tank plugged into a DC8 outlet connected to that AC-III? Another option is that you were running it without a control - but I doubt it, if you weren't 'taught' how to manage it, because you would have had to adjust the bubble counter frequently for that setup. bob
  5. Wow... a battery disintegrated in an hour? I had NO idea saltwater would do that. Thanks for the warning about batteries around salt tanks! bob
  6. are you getting the whole chalice, or just a piece of it?? The chalice's eyes are like Miami Hurricane - start green, turn colors. But the background isn't the same. oops - the opposite, start red, and turn green/yellow. Be sure to put me on your frag list! bob
  7. This is just a moderately inexpensive snapshot camera. My old one has an 'Aquarium' setting that does fairly well. The new one has several white balance settings - starting with AWB (auto white-balance). But the last one allows you to 'set' the white balance. I'm still messing around with it - sooner or later, I will be able to take pictures. bob
  8. It seems to be cyclical - about a year ago or so, we had the same discussion, and then a bunch of new people joined, and a few people returned, and nobody was quitting. And now we have had a few recently leaving. Not as many as last time. And the area we are in - people move around a lot, and sell off to start again later. bob
  9. No sand in my frag tubs... Okay - I WILL get this figured out. Thanks! bob
  10. I would like to take some pictures of my corals under 14K MH light, that actually look the same colors as when I look at them. Do I just put a white foam plate underwater, and click the 'set white balance' button? I want color!! bob
  11. All depends on what you mean by big??? NAGA pink chalice - 8" x 5" Green/Pink thing that changes colors with the light - 5-6" in diameter: Bunch of other chalices: bob
  12. Valeria and I were talking about this area - which looks kind of like AEFW eggs (out of focus): Here are AEFW eggs in a more normal location - on the bottom of a frag plug: bob
  13. That reminds me of the damage a furry little blue-eyed 'acropora crab' was doing to one of my corals. Revive would have killed him, too. bob
  14. AEFW bites are almost perfectly circular - but it's not uncommon for two bite marks to overlap - which might make an oval out of it. bob
  15. Maybe after I retire... Sounds like fun - but a lot of hours to invest. bob
  16. Oh, wow... too bad you didn't speak up on here before you ordered. My Miami is definitely worth the drive from F'burg to Baltimore to get your frag, and have it home in a couple of hours! Several of us could have told you how to contact Jason Fox, and get on his list. bob
  17. Eh... what's $1,000 per inch, anyhow. For my tastes - a Purple Tang is 'high-end fish'. bob
  18. My smallest chromis hides like that in Leishman's table acro. He gets chased a lot by the other, larger chromises. bob
  19. if you have way too many bristleworms, they can be kind of annoying - and it's a good indication you are overfeeding. But up to that point, I've never heard of them causing any real trouble. They can certainly make a dead fish or snail disappear in a hurry! bob
  20. Is it causing any harm? I would just let it live. bob
  21. Marble 1x1 tiles from Lowe's. The cheapest, effective frag plugs I've found so far. Heavy enough they don't fall over, rough enough they don't slide around the rack from moving water, totally inert, corals encrust onto them very nicely. I tear about a dozen or two off the sheets, soak them in hot water for a few minutes, and 'scrub' the glue off onto a rag. That's why all those plugs were together - had just cleaned the glue off, and they were drying. bob
  22. They have been running recon missions on one of my large sunset monti frags.... I think it might get attacked in the night! bob
