  1. Food..... Coral.... food... Coral.. "Hey, kids! It's beans again tonight!! Yay!!!"
  2. Sounds like Wally's is 'getting out of the hobby'. bob
  3. I have one that's about 5000W and another that is 2000W. The larger one is on wheels, and is actually easier to move around than the smaller one. I've used the smaller ones for years, and never fried anything. I, too, would like to know how much a transfer switch might cost. bob
  4. is just fragging away!

  5. HAVE to admit - the water-mixing tank he made for me is one sturdy beast. He certainly doesn't skimp on materials! bob
  6. I am dug out (pickup only): AND then, I took my shovel and helped some of the neighbors dig out. bob
  7. He's too small to do TOO much damage. I had a similar (but fuzzy) crab - he just did some damage to one coral over time, and I had to remove him. bob
  8. Suck him up with a turkey baster bob
  9. Also important to have a 'bubbler' or some other way to add oxygen. Absolutely worst case - have them take water out, and pour it back in a few hundred times bob
  10. I almost always lose power - any kind of a storm... but - not so far!! yay!!! bob
  11. Welcome aboard!! Tank looks great - especially for PC lighting! bob
  12. I still have power this morning. Not sure why - the trees are HEAVY with snow. ANd it's still coming down hard. Quite the snowstorm - haven't gone out to measure yet. bob
  13. I had two brief dips earlier. Slight breeze picked up, knocking some of the snow off the trees - hopefully it will STAY off. bob
  14. Don't EXPECT it - but the yellow tang in my 240g tank keeps it clear of valonia. In fact, I take valonia-infested rocks from other systems and put them in there to give him a treat. He's absolutely vicious with it. Rips and tears at it and gulps it down. I have also had pretty good luck with Sally Lightfoot crabs and Emerald crabs eating it. bob
  15. I tested mine, too - and put the gas cans in the truck to fill tomorrow. Love my electric-start generator!! bob
  16. May we assume you have low water pressure? If you have normal city water, the booster pump is likely to get up to pressure and shut off very quickly. I have very low water pressure - so mine runs almost all the time (when I have it turned on). Doesn't that model come with a DI filter as well?? On mine, it 'clips' onto the RO filter. bob
  17. My 5' long 'calfo' overflow is full of aiptasia. I have none in the display (in fact I put aiptasia-infested rocks in the display so that the CBB can clean them), and actually very few in the sump. The aiptasia in the overflow make short work of any food that spills over into it. But I still have fairly high nitrates in the display tank. So I don't know just how good a biological filter they might be. bob
  18. Do you have any closed heat vents in the 'basement/crawl space'??? It would up your heating bill, but you could pump some heat down there. Got down to ZERO in Manassas last night. Before I got the fish tanks, I used to leave all the vents closed in the basement. It got COLD. Now I have the vents partially open to help keep tank temps up in the winter, and down in the summer. bob
  19. And if you should ever just happen to have a frag of it... put me on your list!! bob
  20. Hmmm.... it HAS been a while since we've heard from him here. Must be busy! bob
  21. Very nice rainbow! No matter what color it ends up. bob
  22. Yeah - me, too!! Many Thanks! I use it when I'm traveling, just to check up on my tanks! bob
