I thought I heard that it wasn't a good idea to install the valve right off the output since the backpressure would negatively affect the pump. I have an eheim 1260 installed with a T on the output that has a ball valve to adjust the amount that dumps back into the sump, but otherwise unrestricts flow.

One on each end, but not too close to the sand bed. Mine are offset in height at about 2 inches from each other so that different levels in the tank circulate.

If it says rated for 100 gallon heavily stocked how is that going to work on your heavily stocked 120 gallon...you would already be behind the eight ball. You could probably build your own GS-1 from AVAST for a little more brand new and great customer service! -

Occassionally I have to unplug it or flip the switch between modes to get it working. The only real issue I have had was due to my incompetence in accidentally submerging the float switches and both had to be replaced. -
I think it is the ballast.

I would go to the Asian market off Farmwell Rd. (used to be a Shoppers Food Warehouse), they sell those orange sushi eggs that my Mandarin eats. I imagine it looks the same.

In my experience they are hard to keep since mine have only liked raw seafood and mysis, but at the same time both of the ones I have had are the easiest type of fish to get to eat of your hand (so far as to nip at my hand in the tank when I am not looking). -

I have a GS1 and was wondering if I could get one of these custom volutes along with a wedge pipe type of valve. I have the gate valve with knob but wanted to get a wedge pipe instead in order to avoid putting my hand in the water to make the adjustments.
