  1. I also had the actinic+ as the bookends and was not impressed with them and substituted them with the Blue plus and I think they look better.
  2. I have two of them and they really do pop the colors but it seems I may need at least six of them to get the coverage over the whole tank since their beams are so narrow.
  3. I had to get rid of my Falco Hawkfish since he liked to eat peppermint shrimp, but for some reason did not bother my cleaner shrimp. It also killed all my hermits too. As for the wrasse, I have had the coris and 6 line and find the six line to be more aggressive than the coris.
  4. I've got a fishing rod with a very small hook you can borrow, put a piece of mysis on there and it might save you some trouble. I am serious too and not joking.
  5. I have a Falco Hawkfish I would like to donate to a school tank. Any takers?
  6. I have the same problem with my 8 bulb TEK fixture when plugging into the GFI adapters. The info on the fixture says that the ballast draws 4A and my adapter is rated for 15A so I am not sure what my problem is either. In any event, tuning in to see what is behind your issue.
  7. Can't recall what the hours are but you can call the Cozy Clownfish phone no. and it will be the same.
  8. Went there last week as well to check it out and was impressed. Had a good selection of different fish that aren't of the usual species.

I think he meant what in particular is RTN/STN'ing in your tank?
  10. Looks like my Tyree Aspera chalice that I have.
  11. I feed my acans at night (when their feeder tentacles extend) with either mysis shrimp or those tiny orange fish eggs that you can find at the local asian grocery stores. I feel I have been getting better results with the fish eggs than mysis. But during the day if I happen to see them open up then I go ahead and feed them when possible.
  12. I mailed my check in late June to the PO Box in Reston a while ago. What happens then?
  13. Interested in Bellina, Lokani, and Tricolor/Bonsai Green polyps.
  14. If it helps reduce your light cycle. I went away for more than a week and things seemed to be OK by doing that.
  15. Check out their version of the Grand Canyon, quite impressive! Also if you are not much of a hiker, I would recommend a helicopter tour---you get to see alot of stuff in a couple of hours. Are you staying on the South side of the island or in Princeville? I stayed in Princeville which is more like a rainforest type environment, but after visiting the south side which is sunnier, I wished we would have stayed there instead since there are also seem to be more things to do down there. Also watch out for the wild chickens which cross the road and the people who are strung out.
  16. The packing list suggests rainbow favia.
  17. I would have gone there in Feb. if I had time. Would have been a nice break from the Disney madness!
  18. Yeah, I think that was me! May have to come out and get some more of those Mexican Turbos so I don't have to scrub my glass.
  19. Looking good! Is that a magnetically mounted rock on the right hand side of the last picture?
  20. I was able to put a mandarin in a 6 month old tank, but I used live rock that was from an established aquarium, bought a starter culture of pods, and whatever phytoplankton my corals did not consume was used to maintain and multiply that starter culture to the point where there are many free swimming schools of pods in certain crevices in the rock. I am not sure at what stage you are at with your tank, but I made sure that the tank had a decent population of pods in it. Occasionally mine will consume mysis that happens to fall into its path but not really anything else.
  21. I have seen my emerald crabs in close proximity to the fish without incident and even had my blue damsel nipping at them to get the crabs out of a shared area under a rock.
  22. I have read before that the grey/black ones are harmless, but I think I saw one of them on a head of my micromussa and when I plucked it off, the head was no longer there or it died.
