  1. Update: All livestock and rock are spoken for (Corbin) Aquamom gets ATO and aquacontroller Tim Shaner gets the hood/tank/stand. SkiCurtis: is there anything else you wanted? Sorry that the other stuff was already spoken for.
  2. Update: Corbin was first post, he gets first dibs on livestock. Tim Shaner has interest in the tank, hood, and stand.
  3. Send me a note to drzaiter1112@yahoo.com on what you're interested in and we can go from there.
  4. All, I'm unfortunately stepping away from the hobby because I'm not only not able to dedicate the amount of time necessary, but I also may be moving and maintaining a tank isn't in the cards. I'm not a paid member anymore, but I still remembered my username and login. I cleared posting with one of the administration, so I think I'm ok there. Obviously livestock goes first, then hard goods. All pick up will be in Mount Airy, MD. In case updates and following this thread gets goofy for me, I'm reachable via drzaiter1112@yahoo.com as well and we can do coordination via that email. If there's multiple interest in an item, I'll just use timestamps to determine order. Livestock: Perc clown: $15 Hippo Tang: $20 Flame Angel: $20 Azure Damsel: $10 Blue Green chromis(3): $5 for the group Skunk cleaner shrimp: $10 Liverock: Approx 100 lbs of pretty established (3 years +) stuffor, many large pieces, and many COVERED in green striped mushrooms: $2 per pound, discount if all purchased together. Live sand: free to whoever wants some Hard goods: 90 gallon tank, hood, and stand: $70 "Shorty" custom skimmer by Avast Marine's formerly named company (recirculation, in sump skimmer): $50 Acrylic sump: $20 Heaters (2): $5 Mag5 return pump: $20 UV sterilizer (in line): $15 Aqua controller Jr with temp probe: $25 Avast Marine ATO: $30 5 bulb T5 light: $20 Reef keeper RODI with float valve: $25 Attaching pictures... Thanks in advance Mike
  5. Eric, I'm in the same situation as you. I've got a couple sitting in my basement that I'm going to use. I'll probably use my trusty garden hose to rinse it out well (don't know if the use of vinegar will make a difference, but I may use it as well). Also, I'll use something to measure the water in it so I can have an estimation of where a particular volume actually is in the can (for the one that I'll use for the saltwater mix, of course).
  6. I concur. My 5 ATI bulbs that I just got were packaged in a manner that could survive some serious abuse. I'm going to test them out today to make sure all of them work but I'm already impressed and will most likely use them again. And btw, Greg is extremely quick in responding to email. Always a nice sign
  7. For food, try frozen cyclopese (sp?). That's like candy to everything and my azure damsels and my clowns go crazy when I feed them that. I don't know about necessarily starving your fish. Do they look like they're getting thinner or wasting away because of not eating? For your live rock, if you've only got a small number of aptasia, try some Joe's Juice or Aptasia-x. No sense to boil your rock over just 3. Then you can get the pep. shrimp to take care of any new ones that show up (in your display or sump, I guess).
  8. Cool. I was leaning that way but I wanted to bounce the question off of people with more salt water in their veins than I have.
  9. All, I've got a 90 gallon with 2 PVC drains (1.5" diameter). The water line will be no higher than .25 to .50 inches above the drain, and the water will go down PVC ~ 4.5 feet to the sump. There, it'll go through the 20 gallon long sump and will need to get pumped back into the tank. I plan on using flexible vinyl tubing to get the water back. I'm not looking to have to have the flow in the tank at a proper amount with this return pump because I have other pumps in the tank that will accomplish that. What I'm looking for is a return pump that will return the water to the tank in a manner that would keep up with the draining (basically so that the sump doesn't dry up). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! --Mike
  10. You should get a can of compressed air (the stuff you use to blow dust out of computers and keyboards), tun it upside-down, and then blast it with the super cold propellant. Should stun it long enough to do what you need to do...
  11. Plays just fine on my iMac (since downloading flip for mac I haven't had problems playing videos at all)... Very cool video. I this their first time laying eggs or just the first time you've caught them on camera?
  12. This may be a dumb question but I'll ask it anyway... Where's the best place to put the temperature probe of the AC? I would imagine that it would be the display tank because you'll want THAT to be at your optimum temperature and not your sump where you'll contend with heat generated from other equipment (including the heater itself). I'll be using other temp probes to observe the display and sump just in case the temp probe on the AC fails. Thanks in advance!
  13. The center post idea is awesome. Kind of wish I had that going on as opposed to looking at my tank build and wondering who could I trick into coming over to help take the tank off the stand in order to easily fit my sump (when completed) into the stand ...hahahahaaahahahah
