dandy7200 September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 This has been in the works for quite some time so I thought I would share here. Lots and lots of concrete, tons of wood, metal, a whole lot of power, diggin holes, 1000's of feet of wiring. Mix of natural and artificial light. Took about 6 months to get all the permits, but now the project is rolling along. I'll get some pics up soon.....
Squishie89 September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 So this tank is just for 1 tang, right? Sounds like an awesome build, can't wait to see some photos!
Cheshireboxers September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 Holy cow bells, I sure hope all goes well I will be looking for pictures can't wait to read up on this one.
matt September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 So is this a new public aquarium? We could sure use some more of that around here...tell me this will be open to the public on some level :-)
AlanM September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 So that should be 40 feet per side. The tang police will be really happy with your choice.

DuffyGeos September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 Ok, all I really want is my automatic frozen food feeder...... This makes me feel very inadequate.....I think my tank is too small and I will get teased because of it. Sooooo how is that PAR down at 15' depth? This will be diveable with discount passed for WAMAS members to SCUBA.- Correct?
matt September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 50x80x15 Not as long or wide, but isn't that roughly the volume of an Olympic sized pool? Wow!
smallreef September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 Saltwater pool? Sounds like fun whatever it is going to be
dandy7200 September 27, 2014 Author September 27, 2014 Here is initial excavation and knee wall. 130 tons of gravel in the hole...
epleeds September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 Where is this going to be. I need to bring my tent and camp out while its being built. That is awesome!!
DuffyGeos September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 You guys need to man up and add 25,001 gal. or go home.... So when can we start to book dive trips.
lnevo September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 Ok, all I really want is my automatic frozen food feeder...... Why do you think they were so concerned about non-ideal environmentals...
howaboutme September 28, 2014 September 28, 2014 The key subject in the shot is the sunshine! That tub will hold a lot of corals. Avast expanding into coral wholeselling???
DuffyGeos September 28, 2014 September 28, 2014 What brand of protein skimmer are you guys going to use?
DuffyGeos September 29, 2014 September 29, 2014 It is starting to look a lot like a foundation for a building with the door to the office on the right front corner and the rolling steel door on the left. Don't see the 15' deep hole we create when we build a pool, let alone the plumbing.......ummmmm. I would think you would want to bury at least half of the tank in the ground just for energy saving reasons. Never got a good look at it on my phone all weekend, now my computer screen tells a different story. I think we are part of a big charade.
Origami September 29, 2014 September 29, 2014 Uh hum. It looks like a house. See the tie straps on the top of the foundation wall? It's for a mud sill plate.
dandy7200 September 29, 2014 Author September 29, 2014 let alone the plumbing....... What kind of build thread would this be without plumbing pics?
howaboutme September 29, 2014 September 29, 2014 If a building, the foundation is coming up too high. Because of cost, the foundation only comes up a bit above grade (though the ride side looks about right)...unless they plan on backfilling, which I doubt. I'm still thinking coral farm....The opening in the foundation will be filled in later after heavy machinery is allowed the access the inside....Just a thought.
