Yes it would start a new cycle but if you take a couple cups of old sand and rinse it and add to new sand with it let it cycle put your rock in and keep checking water to see when to add live stock might take less time as if all new sand When we converted our 125 to the 220 we took half the water,rock,new sand did not bring any of the old sand and let it cycle and kept testing to see when we should add things and slowly added things to the new tank and kept testing hope this helps don't Rush because it could be worse effects

I wouldn't use the sand there are to many things that would do more harm than good. You might think it saves a few dollars but it could end up costing you more in the long run. That is my opinion and not a expert

Not really sure in regards to your suggestion. Richard with ERC did our plumbing. We're suppose to see him tomorrow so maybe he can explain it to me more. I did put the felt bags back on all of the drains that helped a lot.

Maybe some of you can help me with a issue we are having with micro bubble coming into the tank via the returns we are running a external pump running everything the protein skimmer is external any advice on how to get rid of these running sockets on both returns going into the sump and a sock on the return from the protein skimmer have rock and rubble rock in the sump and foam in one of the baffles any suggestions Thanks

Marco, told me to sell all live stock, and coral and start fresh, I wished we took his advice every time I see an Aussie elegance my heart sorta sinks, it had over 32 mouths on it and was larger then a cantaloupe., looking back onto the chain of events my suggestion would be have someone you trust host your prize pieces, frag out to some friends so if you loose one of your corals you can get another start, sell you delicate fish. Unless your planning on moving a tank into your new house 2 months prior to your move, cycle it with water changes from your old tank 1/2 old & 1/2 new give your skimmer time to break in. The fish you keep put them into QT, for at least 7 days prior to putting them in the big display tank. This way will hopefully keep you from having fish get so stress that you get a ick outbreak, with a larger tank your lighting will be different, even the natural light that the room gets will be different. So really do a lot, of planning, coordinate with those who do it for professional, and those who have done large volume tank moves. I know Fred made a comment regarding the depth of the tank and being able to reach it but I thought I would add a few things for our tank move. I have a tank that once my big tank it set and running that we're going to make into a sea horse tank, I love them and it so cool to watch how delicate they act and interact with each other. I often visit Reef Escape because they have had babies and it so cool to go and see how tiny they were once born and the growth progress they have made. At this point of the game Im doing more research and reading up on them.

Reef escape has a really large tank of live rock (it's in a glass tank so this way you can see instead of the digging down in a deep dark tub). They have always been very fair with pricing and we never had any problems with hitch hikers or pest. They mostly maintain tanks and do set ups for clients. They now have a store front that is open on Friday and Saturday.. They also carry the real reef rock, with a variety of selections, base, shelf or branch. Good luck with your set up. We have 2 - 75 gallon tanks, 1-80 gallon high reef ready tank and 2 really nice sumps if your looking to pick up at a very low price for your future upgrade then give a shout back.

I have a breeding pair. The male will hold the babies in his mouth and not eat for 27 days until babies are released. The female belly will have a reddish glow when she is about to release eggs and will cycle about every 6 to 8 weeks. So if your pair starts to breed you'll need to have a tank set up for the babies with a divider so you can put the male on the other side to fatten him up a bit prior to letting him get near the female again. Babies will need freshly hatched baby brine. That's if your interested in raising their young. anyhow good luck with your new addition.
