  1. That's accurate. Only certain models use pwm like the wifi i believe. But the basics are analog and some of the drivers now can take either signal.
  2. Yes. The methodology is the same. There are Files in the chinese blackbox led proof group on facebook that document the hack. Mike Herman has posted videos of modifying SB boxes and Troy Long sells prefabbed kits to add the control port.
  3. Good eyes!!! Someone on facebook had to point it out to me, I never noticed in person
  4. I guess it wasn't one I posted
  5. I thought it was a mock fog machine. Their FW tank was gorgeous. Too much reflection but it was one of the shots I posted I think, they had waterfalls and all. So I thought it was in the line of FW aquascaping.
  6. See if you can find the army men in one of the planted tanks I got yelled at for taking photos, after that I had to be more restrained with the shots. Lots of turtles!
  7. So I had a chance to visit this area of Hong Kong today. This area is located on Tong Choi St in the Mongkok area of Hong Kong. The whole street is lined with pet shops and mostly aquarium stores. It was pretty incredible to see. Enjoy
  8. It's just some stock music from iMovie on the iPhone.
  9. Just so that you know what these can do. I finally added lightning code to my ReefAngel. What do you think? I guess I can't post a youtube video?
  10. Hey guys! Welcome to the RA club link! I second Jack on the water level sensor. I use the single to monitor my ATO container. I've been using my RA for almost 3 years now. It's been the key to being able to run my reef for so long. Jack, what's this about your tank???

    NERAC

Yes, I will be there! The reboot is going slow. Still having nitrate issues. I think the biopellets are starting to kick in, but I'm still at least 25 nitrates, at least 99% of the algae is gone, just one rock has a patch that hasn't disappeared. At least my zoas and soft corals are doing great. My anemone just split into maybe 6! Still healing and not quite finished yet, so its hard to check.

    NERAC

I heard you guys were going to have a table there this year? Who's coming?
  15. Just an FYI for those that are on facebook...there's a group called Chinese Blackbox LED Proof group that has a lot of good info on PAR and modifications, acclimation, etc for these lights. They also have a great group buy going on now with 3 models to choose from and an optimized spectrum. Worth checking out if you're in the market. These are self service warranty so you don't have to send your unit in and won't break the warranty by opening them up. There's a basic fixture, one with a built in timer and one with the full ramping controller.
  16. If your Water tested at 0tds originally and its now at 5 its way past the time to change your filters. If you are able to get a 0 on the out, i would change things once you get to 1 and certainly not past 2.

Hey all, I promised to let you guys know a bit earlier on the next NERAC. Well in keeping with that promise, NERAC IX is March 21, 2015! Registration is starting at $10 right now. Speakers confirmed so far are Jake Adams, Sanjay Joshi and Jamie Craggs. I know everyone will be busy this year with MACNA, but hey, you get to visit the Long Island Aquarium and it's 20,000 gallon reef tank http://www.neracix.com/ Hope you can join us!

    Canopy Mod

Thanks Duffy. The mod has been working great and overall has really made access and maintenance soooo much better. However, the tank had some serious problems and I've lost a lot of coral. Just finished doing a reset. Full sandbed cleaning. 50% water change, rescape, and dead coral removal. I'm really happy with how well everything has responded so far. I have also removed the optics from the lights and the tank feels so much brighter and the light is so much crisper with better blending and spread. PAR measurements are coming. Here is the latest FTS.
  19. Seems a fundamental flaw in your biopellet reactor if it can't open. How would you have refilled the pellets?
  20. Can you manually check at different percentages with the reefkeeper or you have to let it run its cycle? What if you set a one hour cycle and see what things look like?
  21. On another front, I finally got my new dimming conversion kit from ReefRadiance. I will be writing up a full review shortly, but i had to come here and report success!!! The new kit comes with a female and male connector port and plugs write into the stock dimmer and the driver plugs right into it. The cable is wired to the cat-5 jack which installs very easily after drilling one hole for the jack and two for screws. Other than that, it maintains stock functionality without a controller hooked up and the dimmer knobs still work. I have full range of dimming from 5-100% which is exactly what I had when using Alan's original hack.
  22. Sorry tapatalk uploads it to vimeo. It should be ready soon i hope
