Cliff Puckstable November 18, 2013 November 18, 2013 After putting this off a few weeks. I got some motivation to work on it this week. Hopefully this is my last tank.. I repainted the stand and beefed it up with some 2x4's. I also redid the silicone because I wasn't happy with the way it looked. If this is my last tank, I want it to look pro. I'm going to change the blue paint to a black tint tomorrow followed by plumbing. I went with a Waveline DC6000 for my return. I will be using 6 wp-25's for flow. Like my other tank, I will be keeping things simple. sump Should I put something under the acrylic sump? iphone 5 camera sucks.
flooddc November 18, 2013 November 18, 2013 (edited) Alright! How about get rid of the 2 gigantic overflows? Edited November 18, 2013 by flooddc
AlanM November 19, 2013 November 19, 2013 Your tanks in that spot are growing further and further into the room, heh.

monkiboy November 23, 2013 November 23, 2013 Getting rid of the overflow opens soo much room you would know! what's the plan jaymers?
Cliff Puckstable November 23, 2013 Author November 23, 2013 If I remove the overflows, what kind of overflow would I use? I have zero room behind the tank as it sits against the wall. 3' front to back takes up a lot of space in my tv room. The only thing I can think of is drilling the left side of the tank, but I don't think that will look good. Also I already cut and plumbed all the piping. Though I haven't glued anything yet. Even with the factory overflows, I think I have plenty of room. I don't want to clutter the display with a ton of rocks.
Der ABT November 23, 2013 November 23, 2013 If your happy no worries. Its amazing how much room they take up I've seen people run PVC up to an internal overflow box and then either cover the PVC with rock (skewer style) or make it like a fake rock. Takes up a lot less room but seems like your happy this way....I had a lot of ro. In back so it was an easy choice for me
Cliff Puckstable November 23, 2013 Author November 23, 2013 Unfortunately, I'm not that adventurous. I saw a guy on another forum remove one side of their overflow and use a seaswirl as a return. I was thinking of doing that, but decided not to. I don't think the corner overflows are as bad as the back overflows like on my 120g. Those seem to take up a lot of room.

You can always remove them if you ran out of tank space.
Cliff Puckstable November 25, 2013 Author November 25, 2013 I got the plumbing done this weekend. I got a little high off the fumes. Definitely do the gluing in a well ventilated area. It was someone difficult to complete when this little monster kept taking my plumbing pieces. He wont chew on this toys, but loves chewing on plastic. He chewed up a bunch of my composite shims. I call him my sour patch kid. He's sour at first, then real sweet.
YHSublime November 25, 2013 November 25, 2013 Nice start. Looks like you had some good help! Dog looks like he got a little buzzed as well.
sachabballi reef November 25, 2013 November 25, 2013 HhmmmM those fumes worked well...need to do done plumbing with my kids if that's the end result Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
smallreef November 25, 2013 November 25, 2013 Wow...good progress! And I'm sure your helper is just making sure to do a QA on those pieces so you know they will hold up!
Cliff Puckstable November 26, 2013 Author November 26, 2013 Plumbing is officially done. I redid the return bc it was bothering me that it wasn't perfect. I tested to make sure nothing was leaking. Moved the tank to it's permanent home. I got some foam padding from my buddy Greenhornet to put under my sump. Are the spider webbing in the acrylic okay?
Swimboy123 November 26, 2013 November 26, 2013 Just a question about space.... Calcium reactor, KW reactor, ATO res, etc.?
Cliff Puckstable November 26, 2013 Author November 26, 2013 Ato will be the black box to the left of the stand. I will be dosing 2 part under the stand, and will be contacting Avast soon for a reactor to run carbon. I keep things pretty simple. I will be building my canopy tomorrow. If it goes how I have imagined in my head, it should be pretty dope.
Cliff Puckstable November 29, 2013 Author November 29, 2013 I've been looking for some filter sock holders, but wasn't sure if any of them would work with my sum design. I had to improvise and I found some cheap universal car cup holders on ebay. I snapped off the bottom piece that holds the beverage up so the sock can slide through. It fits perfect for a 4" filter sock. It's a very cheap alternative for anyone looking for filter sock holders. I also ran the skimmer for a few minutes last night. It's so quiet, I love it. I'm painting the canopy tomorrow, and will get some picks of it when it's done. It will be getting wet very soon.
