Well the Blackcap Basslet died at the 16th day.  Looked good up until I noticed it dead with a brownish colored wound on it's stomach.  LADD did in fact provide me a refund.  It def wasn't ich or velvet.  Not sure to be honest as it was always hiding in the same spot just pecking at food.  The shrimp and blenny are still doing fabulous.

A full refund 2 days after their 14 day alive guarantee is great. Shows that they are a great company to do business with.

Sorry to hear, but glad they stuck by their policy....

Yea, it was very good service

Now I need to figure out what to order...

So, I just received one of the best/smartest things I have ever bought.  I picked up a MJ400 with some 1/2" silicone tubing to use to do "vacuum"  style water changes from the sump instead of the display.  I had a lot of detritus down there, and it was impossible to get a siphon going.  The MJ400 is slow enough to turn it on and have a couple minutes to vacuum before it filled up my bucket.  Keep in mind my display tank water is crystal clear, and I had all this junk in the sump.  Now its all shiny down there.

I'm definitely going to use this method moving forward.  I'll go back and forth with water changes between siphoning display and vacuuming sump.

I actually do a wc from my sump  every 3-4 months, but I don't need to use a pump.  I dangle the end of they python off my deck, which is 2 stories high, and let the sw spray the pavers down below.  Kills weeds growing between the pavers.

Very nice

I am getting a monti that I got bleached out to come back around.  I just cut a tiny piece off the original frag, and glued it down hoping the new growth would look better.  The polyps are a pretty bright orange in person with a green/yellow base now:

Tank is doing pretty well with the corals, now I just need to get another fish.

Nice, that's night and day. Glad it worked out.

yeah, seriously, nice work on the recovery!

Thanks guys.  It's been 4 months from the small frag I cut to the second picture.  Hopefully in the next 4-8 months it will really take off, and I can offer some affordable frags.

Looking good

Looking good

Thanks man.

Here is a frag of Matt Lebaron's "upper stag" I got early December 2013.  I lost some color from what it looked like originally, but growing great.

Also, I figured out a better setting for the maxspect.  The 120* optics are def an improvement, and colors are no longer looking faded using 55% white and 75% blue for 7 hours a day.

Love your growth shots. Always consistent. I always have plenty of pictures, but all from different angels with different lenses, I should take some lessons.

All mine are cell shots, and the tank is only 17 gal.  I take them, then auto adjust in windows, then crop to similiar size.  Pretty quick.  To me a build thread is really helpful to track items almost like my own blog.  Even if folks don't comment, I like to keep a log of the tank for my own records.

I'm also only posting the corals that are growing, and not the ones that seem stagnant...

I keep dosing nitrates, and they are not even at 1ppm.  I decided to order some ZEO stuff to get some more nutrients into the water column that may actually be beneficial rather than the stump remover I've been using.

I went with sponge power and coral vitalizer.  At 1 drop a day they should last me a year.  They will probably expire before I run out.

My main interest is if I will see increased daytime PE.

I think Advanced Aquarist came out with this article just for you today

http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/finding-the-right-balance-of-nutrients-for-corals

While the bulk of past scientific research has focused on the effects of excessive nutrient levels, a new paper from the University of Southhampton examined the necessity of nutrients for corals.  Their research has concluded what modern reefkeepers have also learned:  that '“too many” nutrients can be as bad for corals as “not enough”.
