Nice job on drilling the tank! You might have to cut a little of the outer trim away to get the bulkhead to seat flush. The good this is that it is up high so not much pressure on it.

Thanks! It couldn't have gone smoother, and I didn't even use a template, although I would if I were to do it again.

I was thinking I could probably take the whole piece of trim off the top? I have a 20 long that I would rather use, so worst comes to worst, I'll drill that one properly. I'm trying to figure out what size bulkhead I'll end up using, as the drill bit I got from Steve was 2.25".

Awesome tank progress and beautiful coral coloration.  Nice job.

Thank you!

Used the snow day to make 55 gallons of RO and start clearing the frag racks! Oh, and sleep. Used a lot of epoxy, and I didn't even overflow my skimmer! Everything is coming up Milhouse! I've had my powerheads on full for about a week now, and I've noticed a nice improvement with my SPS. Still getting some red slime, but I believe this is because of me feeding so much food. I am trying to feed less 2x a day instead of broadcast feeding 2x a day. It's tough, but my phosphates are getting up there, and this will be a nice slow/gradual change I can make.

I played around with a macro lens and the top down:

Nice! I especially like the photo of the clown in the nem.

Looking very good isaac. Your growth rate is crazy. Do you sing to your tank or something?

Thanks! The clowns are anything but picture shy.

Every night I rub my fingers along the edge of the tank and hum an old tune my my Spanish fiances gypsy 2nd cousin taught me. I'm glad to see it is finally paying off.

Lol

Well. One of my flames was bullied to death. The other one was found swimming around upside down this morning and getting blown around by the power head. Alive and breathing, but not in good shape if I've ever seen in. Ziplocked it up and threw it in the freezer for a hopefully painless death. One remains in observation, doing just fine. Always discouraging, but enjoying my reef from the couch, and have to take the losses with the gains.

Thanks all. I'm 3 for 3. Yikes.

Lost all three flames?

Yup. No ammonia or nitrates/trites. Salinity 1.025, they were all eating and healthy up until this weekend. Temp hasn't fluxed, and I've been removing extra waste and food daily.

Did you pretreat them with anything? Cupramine and/or prazipro?

Nada, I was simply observing them.

Rupert molted!

Must have wanted to get ready for his new house

Not sure what I'm looking at. However, I do see carpet fibers...Where's the molt? Is it the red thing on the left side?

Yeah, you nailed it. Sorry, just had my iPhone with me at the time. The molt is all over. The right hand side is Rupert sticking out. The left hand side is part of the molt, all though it is all over the sump in parts. I hear the Peacock Mantis will eat parts of their molt, and will take about 10 days to get back to full speed. Rupert is very curious, but will not strike...yet.

it looks like he blew up

I will wait two weeks before moving him, it looked like he tore up the coral banded that found its way into his sump chamber. I suspected by behavior it was coming. Cool to see it actually go through!
