+1 on ATO statement.

Well, the Fiance agreed to another tank, which I never thought would happen, so now I'm back to 2 tanks 1 room. I've put it right by the desk, so it's now kind of like being at an aquarium, and the obsession is becoming quite real. It's a Biocube HQI, included with a Biocube Skimmer (which I presume is garbage) as well as a UV Sterilizer, which I presume might be garbage as well. The handles on the door were non existent, so I've added two my pops picked up from Afghanistan (weird thing to get, right?! But they look great on it!) The light is the standard 150MH that comes with it, which I think I'll stick with for now, although I'm already considering a d120 based off the performance of the it2080 over the 57. I've started rock work, but mostly filled it up with 10 gallons of water from the Deep Blue. I'm making up 15 gallons sw mix right now which should top me off. I put a piece of LR in there to seed, and I've got pretty much brand new rock which I'm starting to scape with. I really want to keep my options open, and I've decided I'm going bare bottom on this one. There is a decent size fuge which I might get a light for and see about growing cheeto in there.

I'm thinking about a dedicated SPS, but at this stage anything can happen! If I do happen to go that route, there will certainly be an MP10 down the line.

I'll have pics to follow as I get it cleaned up.

embrace the addiction. after changing water on my 75, boy do i wish the movers didnt break the 2 24s.

Well, filled up and rocking and rolling. The rock isn't structured the way I'd like it, but I wanted to get it wet and moving before I started messing around with it. Addiction embraced:

Some pics of the 57 today, things are looking good. I messed around with my sump this weekend. I was going to replace the eshopps one with a 20g H. Well, turns out it's just about a quarter of an inch to big. There was lots of swearing, and shoving, and then denial. And then I just worked with what I had. I eggcrated off a part in my return, keep the cheeto from the return pump. I put a filter bag (empty) on my drain, hope to catch a lot of the detrius that was coming down from my overflow. Time will tell.

Can you see where my wandering GBTA nestled? I figure let it be, seems happy there. I guess it wanted to balance out the BTAs. The Piet Mondrian of BTA's I suppose it is.

Tank looks AWESOME!

Thanks so much! I'm really content with how everything is working out! I'm really glad I redid the rock work after all. I think the LED's really helped with the tank as well.

This is how bizarre my clowns are, btw. I've noticed that they've hosted just about everything in my tank, from all my nems, to frogspawn and golden torches, and now their most recent favorite.... the open brain. I don't get them, I really don't.

Looking good!

And good start with the new tank...just getting the rock wet to see how it looks before setting it really helps see the life on it...

Thanks! Yeah, I'm just kind of letting it do it's thing. I was really excited about it, and now my fiance and I are looking to buy a place, and work got busy, you know, life happened in several days. It will be an awesome little side project, It certainly wont be rushed, and I think that will yield the best results :)

looks great!

Thanks! Always getting better, I hope!

Took a few shots tonight messing around with the camera, completely untouched. I plan on using the FTS for par readings:

Couple additions:

Huge green birdsnest

Green slimer

the rest I don't remember the names, they're cool, they are doing well. My water parameters are great. I haven't checked them in months. I just checked them Monday. I have switched my water changes to 10 gallons a week instead of 5. Everything seems to be doing 100%. Up to 31% on the lights.

I don't have a picture, but I was worried about my Orange Spot Tang not getting enough veggies from Jans. So I bought a clip and some Julian Springs seaweed. Tang is out of control nibbling at it all the time with a crazy mouth. I also am feeding some red algae given to me by a forum member that I'm growing in my sump. She loves that as well. My Turbo algae grazers are also crazy for the seaweed, and will try and pull it off the clip onto the glass.

Just did a test on the 29BC

PH is 8.0

Ammonia 1.0

Nitrates 40ppm

Just waiting for ammonia to drop and nitrates to either say the same or go up, and a water change. Looking like it's not far off.

Picked up this bad boy for the 29BC as well:

IMO the LED's are the way to go. Maybe if I had a big place (or an open room with my tank) I would do MH, but LED's are comparable from what I have seen. They also don't make your apartment feel like Laguna Beach in the middle of winter.

Lookin good!!

Thank you!

sounds great, isaac! tank is on auto-pilot and you got things growing nicely. great work!

Thanks Marco! I wouldn't exactly call it auto pilot, but there is a great system in place. I'm glad to see things growing, and I've been able to frag things out for fellow members, so I enjoy that!

Stopped at Quantum Reefs this morning and checked out the new digs. Vince and Steve did a great job! Picked up 2 sexy shrimp, a cleaner shrimp, an ORA Mandarin that I had ordered before they even opened up their new storefront, and a bright red flame scallop. I will see how it does, and if it's requiring extra food or attention, I may move it into the 29.

(edited)

Well,

I thought I had a lot to update, but I don't think I do... really. Like I said above, I picked up my ORA mandarin from Quantum, 2 sexy shrimp, a flame scallop, and a skunk shrimp. My tang LOVES the skunk shrimp, and frequently pits by for a "cleaning." Jason told me he had his cleaning his hand, so I tried it out today, sure enough, little dude crawled all over, so that was pretty cool. I saw one of my sexy shrimp today, and I'm fairly sure the two are both in there... I just see them at different times. There are a lot of hiding spots in my tank, I don't even know if I still have a watchman goby in there, and come to think of it, I've not seen my algae blenny for some time.

I picked up an aussie elegance from Exotic Reef Creations, and my rock nem that I won in an auction. The rock nem is alright, but the aussie is... well, elegant. It opened up during drip acclimation, and bombarded open in the tank once I put it in. I placed it on the rock against most peoples better judgement, so far so good. If it has trouble or doesn't do well, I'll move it.

the 29 is doing well. I threw in some hermits and snails, who are all still alive a couple days later. Still working on the aquascape and plans for it. I just found a juvie B&W clown pair, so they will be my family for the little tank.

It is cool when they clean your hand huh? Just be sure you don't have any scabs because they will rip them right off, and in salt water... you get the idea.

Cannot wait to see the B&W clowns. I want to get a pair of those eventually, but with my current setup I fear they would be killed my my current clowns. When I build my next system they will be there for sure!

Picked up my Apex tonight. Decided to go with Avast for a skimmer with the PSK1000. Don't expect to see me anytime soon

All skimmers are not created equal. Have the skimmate locker, and need to get a breakout box so I can connect it to the apex, but that requires 1. More room in my sump 2. Knowledge of my apex. Super happy with the avast recirc mod, and the performance is already speaking for itself once the psk1000 and mj1200 fired up!
