treesprite January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 We joke sometimes about people stealing corals, but I never imagined someone would actually do it. Crazy. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/team-of-coral-thieves-recorded-on-video
zygote2k January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 there have been similar incidents here at 2 of the LFS's that are on our forums.
trockafella January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 there have been similar incidents here at 2 of the LFS's that are on our forums. Yep. I was talking to one of the vendors about it. If Im not mistaken one of them was a club member. No matter how nice people seem, even club members you should always be cautious.
smallreef January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 Wow...the morals of our country...if you cant afford you still deserve it? So much of that thought going on in the penal system
Sharkey18 January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 Nothing surprises me. I run a small business. You can't believe what people will steal.
smallreef January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 Im not sure people are stealing corals to resale...not so much of a black market..unless they do alot of listing on CL or other boards...
matt January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 Whatever the reason, that's just sad. Do LFSs have a black-list like Vegas casinos? Maybe they should
Incredible Corals January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 Whatever the reason, that's just sad. Do LFSs have a black-list like Vegas casinos? Maybe they should LOL, we have a back room with a single light that sways back and forth (always swaying not, sure why). Under the light there's a single chair, table with a ball peen hammer.

Incredible Corals January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 A a 250W HQI ballast.... We just give them really bad sun burn as their punishment.
STEVE January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 A a 250W HQI ballast.... Tom, The light I saw over the chair was a 400 watter and it was only about 8" above the chair, so I'm thinking it would be a bit warm. I asked Steve V what was with all the water, the 6 car batteries hooked in series and the jumper cables for by that chair and he just winked and said " I hope you never find out" , smiled and walked away........to this day, I dont go back in that room.
Oprah Wrangler January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 You guys are awesome. I am sitting here at my desk LMAO and all my coworkers are looking at me like I am strange. On a serious note, it is very unfortunate that these things happen. I hope justice is served.

He told me that the batteries were just a backup. I'm sure that I saw a couple of posts hooked up to that ballast with the jumper cables connected. He says they really glow when hooked up. Kinda on the yellowish side, though. 4300K.
Amuze January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 I heard if you sit under that light long enough, you will get great polyp extension.
Jan January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 I witnessed this at one of our LFS's and brought it to one of the workers attention as it was happening. I could not believe it. Two guys. One had his hand in the frag tanks in the back while the other was in the front looking at the fish tanks. The worker yelled at the guy "Yo man you can't be putting your hands in our tanks". He kept watching them. The guy didn't have time to take anything. I hate thieves. They're the worst!!! I'll rat them out in a heartbeat.
STEVE January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 Jan, I was just testing the water temp in that tank, and I knocked over a frag so I was just putting it back where it was......jeeez !
Omair January 24, 2013 January 24, 2013 Jan, I was just testing the water temp in that tank, and I knocked over a frag so I was just putting it back where it was......jeeez ! LOL
