gmerek2 June 4, 2014 Share June 4, 2014 Yea that's a tough situation because the anemones are so fun to watch especially with clowns.. Buy small and in 3 months they are the size of a darn 12" poisonous pancake stinging the day lights out of everything. Then they split into 6" monsters and walk everywhere during the night. Plus they are by no means easy to remove. I'm attempting at taking all mine out and making a nem tank. What is that giant sps on the right? Awesome tank. YHSublime June 4, 2014 Share June 4, 2014 Just in case how do you get a nem off the rock So I've always used a credit card, however, sometimes they can really get their foot jammed up inside the rock! I've gone as far as to take the rock out, and crack out the area it's foot is on to get it out. If you can get a good angle on the foot, just slowly peel it up, careful not to damage it. This is always easier if you can take out the rock it is on. That's a rainbow granulosa. Mine is growing wicked fast, so fast the zooxanthellae is almost 3" behind. The bottom is super colorful, and all the new growth is still filling in.
pizzaguy June 4, 2014 Author Share June 4, 2014 And you know both nems are under the ledge on the back near the overflow. I can't get to them with even 1 finger at this point. Imagine that, right. We will see. I'm sure there gonna move
gmerek2 June 4, 2014 Share June 4, 2014 If you see them moving at night, get to their foot and slowly peel at it. It will come off because they aren't attached as well as when stationary. This was the only way I was able to remove my extra nem. All the other rumors and myths I researched didn't work. That's cool that you are seeing clearer water and better results. monkiboy June 23, 2014 Share June 23, 2014 eric, looks great sir. everything looks swell and thriving in your photos. what's your assessment of your system and the tank as of today?
pizzaguy June 23, 2014 Author Share June 23, 2014 Thank you.my assessment is my tank is a weird one. By the growth and color explosion clearly my tank was starving for po4 so looks like I'll be dosing for a while maybe even ppermanently. Still battling nitrates but hopefully once the po4 comes up where it needs to be hopefully my chaeto will kick start and get the balance correct. Po4 dosing is nerve wrecking not to go overboard so I'm going very slow trying to find the happy medium. Right now I'm a 3 ml a day watching it closely. Changed 200 gallons in 8 days to get nitrates back down. Will keep a very close eye on everything. But I'm extremely happy with sps growth and color all a sudden and zoa paly growth has exploded across the board. Even my finicky designer zoas are taking off. pizzaguy June 23, 2014 Author Share June 23, 2014 One weird note.my nitrates created up to about 70 to 80 for a few days before I did the water changes and thus time there were no ill effects. Last time my sps browned immediately. Kinda weird
YHSublime June 23, 2014 Share June 23, 2014 I am having the opposite problem in my tank, almost no nitrates, and high phosphates.
