bbyatv February 18, 2014 Author February 18, 2014 I finally made the switch from Phoenix 14Ks to Radium 20Ks. Here is the new fixture with new reflectors. My PAR went from around 350 to 475 at the same spot in the tank. The combination of reflector and bulb sure seems to put out the PAR. Bruce
camelcruiser February 18, 2014 February 18, 2014 I'm glad they are getting put to good use man!! I'm sure those acros are gonna love life.
matt February 18, 2014 February 18, 2014 Throw up an fts...would love to see how things look. Dig your tank
bbyatv February 19, 2014 Author February 19, 2014 Ya, I love my Regal. I scored him from PetSolutions.com for $80.99. He is large, has great color, and eats very well. All of the fish I got from this site have survived and done great. I have seen Regals at some LFS that do not look nearly so nice. At some point I will take pics of just the fish so you can get a good look at him. Bruce
sachabballi reef February 19, 2014 February 19, 2014 I miss my radiums...I run the phoenix because I have the DE bulbs...I wish upon all the stars in the sky they would put out a DE for the 250 radiums...they do a 150 but not 250 go figure.
bbyatv February 24, 2014 Author February 24, 2014 love your Regal angel!!!.. looks very healthy!! Here are some pics of him: Bruce
YHSublime February 25, 2014 February 25, 2014 Bruce, any problems with it nipping at your zoas or SPS? Everything I try that's "with caution" ends up being "not reef safe" for me, I should have learned my lesson by now.
bbyatv April 7, 2014 Author April 7, 2014 Kind of neat video of my clown fish fanning their eggs. Seems like they work so hard. http://youtu.be/jXtwR0QXWs0 Bruce
bbyatv May 31, 2014 Author May 31, 2014 I changed out my old Coralife 500 calcium reactor with a Grey Seas Aquatics calcium reactor yesterday. Man what a difference. The effluent is not at 50+ dkh where before I struggled to get 20 dkh. Lots more alk and calc for the same amount of CO2 going into the tank. Much better efficiency. Here is a pic of the unit in place. Bruce
Origami May 31, 2014 May 31, 2014 Sweet looking reactor. The two stages are stock? (It looks like there's a second reactor to the right sharing the same baseplate in the first picture.) Does it vent excess gas prices try to recirculate it? What's the large gray boxy-looking thing under the media plate? Sent from my LG G-Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition
bbyatv May 31, 2014 Author May 31, 2014 Thanks. I added a second stage to try to reduce CO2 into the tank. The second stage is a Coralife 250 calcium reactor (no CO2 line connected). I am trying to burn up the excess CO2 from the M4 in there. This model GSA M4 does not have a recirc design for the CO2. I think the large large grey box is just the return tube from the recirc pump that stick through the media plate. Take care. Bruce Sweet looking reactor. The two stages are stock? bbyatv June 24, 2014 Author June 24, 2014 Any updated photo's? Here are a bunch from 6/23/2014 Thanks for looking, Bruce
bbyatv June 25, 2014 Author June 25, 2014 Thanks. I am running 2 x 250w Radium halides with Lumen Bright 3 Reflectors driven by Reeflex Cube Magnetic Ballasts. For supplement lighting I have 2 x 54w ATI AB+ T5 bulbs driven by a 660 Icecap ballast Bruce Very very nice....I forget, do you have 400w or 250w
YHSublime June 25, 2014 June 25, 2014 That's a lot of light! How long do you run each daily? Tank looks awesome, as usual.
bbyatv June 25, 2014 Author June 25, 2014 Your not kidding about the light. My par at 14" deep is running about 680. I run the halides from 12 to 8 and the T5s 2 hours before and after the halides come on. Bruce That's a lot of light! How long do you run each daily? Tank looks awesome, as usual.
