Well, I finally have most things settled after the move a few weeks ago, but now all my SPS are showing symptoms of RTN! Everything looked great for the first two weeks, then just last week i lost a huge stag colony overnight and now almost ALL my SPS are slowly wasting away. Checked parameters twice and everything is great and on par. Seems like this is a reoccurring problem with me when i move, as my last move during snow-mageddon i lost several very large colonies. The only problem this time is that it looks like 95% of SPS are on their way out :( I also just lost one of my 6" clams, very bazaar. Everything else looks amazing, from the blue gigantea nem, all LPS, rose nems, etc... SPS just isn't feeling it i guess. I'm hoping everything slows down so i can salvage some frags, guess its just luck of the draw. Oh well, thought i would give an update on the move, hopefully all the clowns will at least start laying again as they're nice a fat :)

check your bulbs in case some of the uv glass has cracked and is frying things (i know ive seen it happen to others) otherwise sorry to hear man, ill do what i can to help rebuild the stony garden when things settle out as long as my daughter can tap on the glass of your billion clown swarm tank all her heart desires (oh and she may stick her hands in)

Your not by chance on well water now?

I know two people up here who are on private wells up here and have slowly been loosing sps after we had all that rain. One of them has even had his water sent in, and tested perfect.

Hey man you got the new tank setup already? You have to post some pictures. Sorry to hear about your SPS. That really blows.

Everything is just in the 300gal rubbermaid that Dave Lin lent me. I had some serious flooding just 2hrs after closing so i haven't even had time to get things moving on the new tank. It's setup as if permanent though, so nothing is left out; hence why all my parameters are in check. I did just increase the flow and raised the lights about a foot, as i went from 1 400w to 2 400w, due to the surface area; which are hanging about 2.5 ft off the water, maybe more. I am on city water and everything is RO/DI, as i filled the tub and mixed salt before i even moved so there is no unfiltered water. So the only difference right now is that i added a light (due to spread of tub), bigger skimmer (planned for upgrade), and did not reuse or add new sand (as its temporary and will do new sand when the real tank is actually setup). We'll see what happens. Thanks for the insight

Sorry to hear about the bad news! I would do a large water change and add a poly-filter and carbon.

ditto, did that yesterday. read my mind :)

Sorry to hear about your troubles Anthony. Let me know if you need anything or want to try fragging anything - I'll be a temporary donor site for you.

Hi Anthony,

Sorry to hear about the losses. Same happened to us in the first two moves. The third move we sold everything or went to a friends house.

I will PM you my number please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I have some carbon, extra media reactor and spare equipment.

Oh no! I hope it all heals up! I would be glad to keep a piece for you, to make sure you have something left for when it calms down. Keep us posted, it looks like you've got all of wamas ready to help you! Just let us know how!

I keep thinking about moving out of the area, wondering how I will move my creatures that far without them dying on me, and worrying that I'll be too far from my fellow WAMASers to employ their assistance.

Thanks for all the support everyone! I will keep everyone posted and will take a look at the corals today and see if any are left. If so, i may need to pass whats left along. Thanks!

Corals do not handle change very well. Because the environment where they evolved is so stable, corals do not have a mechanism to deal with the changes we subject them to.

I would be happy to hold on to some of the SPS for you. I'm holding Travis' corals right now and everything is doing very well. The Leishman's Tabling Acro frag I got from Eric is already starting to incrust over the 2 part epoxy after 1 week.

Im not to far from you either so let me know if i can help out at all, i can fit some more pieces in if needs be.

sorry, hope you recover over the loss soon~~

Try fragging and put glue on the end that you cut. I've had success with this. I've also put glue on the parts that RTN and have saved corals this way too. Good luck!

Well everyone,

Thanks again for all the support. I did try fragging and gluing etc. but it was too late. Looks like at this time i will be starting with a whole new collection of SPS whenever i start up a new display tank (now on hold, due to this). I also lost 3 of my 6 clams; but all my LPS, softies and nems are doing just great, very odd. Well, i'm glad i at least have the vidoes and pictures of my previous tank to have something to strive for in the future. It's just a matter of time and patience :)
