  1. That's great news. Please post plenty of pics.
  2. Awesome build. Did you get your hands on the elites? How bout a FTS?
  3. Bumped for an update
  4. Coming along nicely.
  5. Regarding plumbing cement, I've always had luck with both Oatey PVC All-Purpose Cement (Red Can) and PVC Rain-R-Shine® Blue Cement (Light Blue Can). No need to worry about poisoning your livestock since both cements are recommended for potable water use. Just give the cement time (several hours) to cure prior to use. Nice looking tank, btw!
  6. 3 Thumbs Up and Happy Holidays to you!!!

  10. Darn, missed out again!!! I was on call this weekend. Really looking forward to next year's meeting
  11. and here's what my fingers found unexpectedly: Bristleworms (standard Pencil length and diameter) I had a heck of a time pulling out the bristles. Initially, I tried the fingers and tweezers technique without too much luck because I ended up breaking the bristles and leaving some very short pieces still left in my fingers. Finally, I tried melting some candlewax and dipping my finger in. I let the wax dry a bit before attempting to peel off. Success!!! All of the visible bristles were removed. My fingers were itchy and swollen for a few days; feeling a bit like a very bad case of mosquito bites but a few doses of Benedryl and some topical Antibiotics helped.
  12. A speedy recovery Bob. Hope to see you back soon.

  19. AC-III here!
  20. @dave w- Thank you. I can attribute the water clarity to my AVAST O3 reactor and GAC. Regarding the rock work, i used a "live framing" / rock skewering technique. The frames were purchased pre-made from a WAMAS board member (trockafella). I drilled a few rocks, stacked and re-stacked them several times, and used a combination of epoxy and cable ties to secure the unruly pieces. I did sketch something up as a guide for myself: http://www.wamas.org...liveframing-v3/ Also, Sanjay has some examples of his live framing: http://reefcentral.c...5&pagenumber=28
  21. @Coral Hind- Overall, LPS are doing great. So is the large green polyped toadstool I have at the back center of tank. In regards to SPS, the Leishman table, validas, ORA Hawkins, and tenuis seem to be doing pretty good.
  22. @Alieu07 - Thank you. I have a couple pieces that are growing at a modest rate and others that seem to be doing nothing at the moment.
  23. @Coral Hind & surf&turf - Thank you.
  24. #FTS 8-28-2011 (Added a couple of powerheads, a few acros, and purchased a Sunrise Dottyback <= Currently in quarantine)
