  1. My citron goby does the same thing. I am passed fustrated. I read info that it eats the mucos on SPS coral polyps. i can't catch him. David
  2. Yes, Starbucks coffee is good.
  3. I have the pinpoint calibration solution packets in PH7 and PH10 but those are used for PH probe calibration. I don't understand why you would use PH calibrating solution for an ORP probe. David
  4. I agree. mine went in the trash. David
  5. When sanding there will be fine particulate dust every where. Wait until the floors are finished before you set up the new tank. My $.02 David
  6. If you calibrate the LM3 every 2 months you will be presice dosing to the .01 litre per day. Also it does not dose all channels at the same time. which is good for 2 part because you are not to dose both parts at once. It will dose channel A, then B, Then C over a 24 hour period. if you want to dose 80 ml per day it will spread out the 80 ml slowly over the 24 hour period. Keeps the corals happier because parameters stay very steady. However there is a minimum it can dose when programmed. I believe its 40 ml to 60 I don't have the manual in front of me. David
  7. If you have the cash the litremeter III is excellent. You can calibrate the pumps. I use a main pump and a slave pump. Storage of both parts are brosilicate glass containers from the container store. The programable main unit makes precise dosing easy. Heres a pick of my setup.
  8. Please e-mail your contact info to me at: davjbeas@msn.com Thanks David
  9. Can I get the mag 7, mag 12, Rio 2500, mag drive 5? I can be there saturday evening or sunday works also. Thanks, David
  10. Can you put a cotton ball in the hole to muffle the sound? David
  11. I found this on reef central. Order the 25 gallon size Order 30 of these and get free shipping(orders over $175 get free shipping.) I don't think they will charge extra shipping because this item is not tagged for extra shipping. If you order the 160 gallon size you will definately pay extra shipping. http://www.marinedepot.com/Instant_Ocean_R...35-FISM-vi.html David
  12. I use the spectrapure liter meter III with a second unit. It is the most reliable pump system. I've tried the aquamedic dosing pumps and I don't think they are made as well as the spectrapure unit. This system doses a selected amount gradually over 24 hours. This keeps parameters steady. Also b-ionic recommends not addind both parts at the same time anyway. Main pump doses 1 part and the slave pump doses the other. Here is a picture. I use airline tubing to deliver the 2 part to the pumps and RO line to deliver to the the sump. I have 1 part going to one side of the sump and the other part going to the other side of the sump. I still have to dose MG 1 day a week. David
  13. 1.026 Specific gravity 78-80 degrees temp David
  14. I always shut off the power to the heater during water changes. If the heater is on and not submersed It will get hot and when the water level goes back the glass will shatter. I keep mine in the sump. It just is laying on the sump bottom. Never had a problem. I think I will raise it up an inch though, for safety when I get home. David
  15. Definately Aptasia - X from red sea. Will kill aptasia, majanos, shrooms also. Has 2 different style of syringe attachment. David
  16. No gloves. I wash to make sure no handlotion or soap residue is on my hands. I only worry about not contaminating the tank water. David
  17. I would come if I don't have to work. Depends on day and time. David
  18. THats the same fixture I have. When you take it down to change bulbs pull one end out just slightly then the other back and forth till its out. You should use just a tiny amount of white lithium grease on the new bulbs connection(the copper part) and the new bulb will slide right in. I would like to buy a frag from you so I could help whenever I am there if you need it. I had to change out the ceramic fitting where the bulb goes into twice and have ordered parts direct from aquamedic. Once it was corroded and green(cupric oxide?) The wiring on these fixtures are rated for a higher celsius then I could find for sale anywhere. David
  19. Jan, If you like using the kent marine phosban I have a container of it you can have for free. just send me a Pm David
  20. Jan, Granular ferric oxide (GFO) will bring the phosphate levels down. If you have a media reactor you can run it in that, however depending on your tank size you will need to decide how much to use. You should start with a smaller amount in the beginning. This is because GFO strips the water and there will be more light penetration which can cause SPS to turn white and die from shock. I started with 1/2 cup when I started using GFO on my 75 gallon tank. Then after about a month up to 1 cup. I find the kent marine model of phos reactor is my choice. I used a MJ400 to feed the reactor but with a ball valve to adjust the flow so the media gently tumbles from the flow. After starting the prodibio system I no longer need to use the phosban reactor. You don't need to change the GFO often. about once a month is good. Rinse the GFO well. I rinsed mine and then ran the reactor in a bowl in the sink with RO water until it was clear then put it on the sump. One of our sponsers sells the pellet grade or bulk reef supply has it also. Get the lager pellet size as the smaller grade can pass through the sponges in the reactor. David
  21. Any chance you can extend the sale to wednesday? I have to work today and yesterday? David
  22. Topping off for replacing evaporated H2O is a good thing. I don't thing the fish will notice. However topping off with pure water will keep specific gravity more constant. Stability of the tank parameters are very important when keeping corals. If you are only keeping fish then you can draw a line on your sump where you want the water level to be. Then top off the tank every few days manually to get the water level back to where the line is drawn. There are several ways to automate the top off process if you would like to go that route. I keep SPS corals and use an auto top off system so that as evaporation occurs the water is instantly replaced. You wouldn't be able to see any change in my tank waters specific gravity on a day to day basis. Happy Reefing David
  23. Cancel the order and let them call you when they have what you want in stock. David
